"Did I do something Carla?" Kevin asked, following me to the kitchen. There was a lot of hurt in his voice. I wanted to comfort him, but I was hurt also. He liked someone else, and he wasn't even divorced from Dani yet. Why can't that be me for once?

I shook my head and went to get some cereal off the top of the fridge. I heard Kevin sigh sadly and sat down at the counter. Sneaking a look behind me, I saw just how downhearted he was. He lost his wife, a child, what next? He doesn't need to loose his best friend, too.

"You really want to know?" I asked, not able to keep my secret any longer.

He nodded. I took a deep breath. Just tell him. Just come right out and say it. Blurt it out.

"I l--" I swallowed and tried again. "I l--"

Dang it. I cant say it. Curse this tongue.

I opened my mouth again, but then the doorbell rang and in burst Joe. Great. He was wearing a short sleeve blue v-neck with a bandana tied casually around his neck. I couldnt get over how stupid he looked in just the bandana and shirt. A bandana is for your head, not your neck. Who does he think he is, Fred Jones?

Rolling my eyes, I asked Joe," What is wrong with you?"

Kevin chuckled. "1-50 or 50-100?" I smiled at him.

Joe glared at Kevin and I with annoyance. "Funny, but I'm here to take you two on a double date. With me and my new girlfriend. Tonight." I knew immediately that it was only to get me and Kevin together. Once again, I rolled my eyes.

"Joe, no way." Kevin and I said together.

Then Joe gave us that pouty face. I poured some cereal in a bowl for me then handed an empty bowl and the cereal to Kevin and got the milk out. Everyone knew that I couldn't resist a pouty face. It was my weakness. All too soon I caved. "FINE!" I shouted annoyed at myself.

Kevin was different. He was hardly phased by Joe normally, but recently he's been different. After 10 minutes, Kevin ended up caving too. Joe grabbed an orange and left, skipping. Kevin and I ate our breakfast in silence, disappointed that we hadn't been able to say no. I was a little excited about tonight.

Joy to the World, I'm going on a date with Kevin. He may not like me that way, but it's still considered a date.
