Dr Kozak was watching Kieran and Esperanza silently, not really saying anything until he kind of shut down his computer without warning them whatsoever.
Just then, his daughter came back into the room, with a rather massive smile on her face, goodness knew why, and she looked like she was on Cloud Nine at the moment.
"Hey Dad!" She screamed. "Did I miss anything?"
Dr Kozak shook his head then sighed in absolute stress as he thought about how the hell Diana Valentine might have known he sent Esperanza and Kieran out to get his trophy back.
"Not really," Dr Kozak answered after a while, frowning. "You kinda only missed the fact that Diana Valentine knows what I'm doing, much to my freaking irritation...."
Dr Kozak was tired but he didn't sleep. He couldn't sleep. He was also feeling annoyed, resentful, jealous, kind of hopeless and a bit under the weather but didn't let any of that show either.
"How does she know that?"
"Gosh, Arista, I wish I knew but I don't, of course...." Dr Kozak trailed off, getting a cup of water for himself, dropping it and cursing in Arabic, not picking it up before he sat back down again.
"Wait. I think I know. She's using a CCTV camera on you. Her daughter Cynthia Rose texted me just now."
Dr Kozak screamed.
"Why would she do that? God, she is ticking me off so much right now.."
Dr Kozak switched on his computer and was about to video chat Diana mainly to scream at her but changed his mind halfway, leaving his computer still on though.
"Before I do anything else though," he told his daughter, standing up. "Arista, come with me, I have a present for you..."
Arista was shocked as soon as she had heard that. It was unlike Dr Kozak to give her a present. He didn't even buy her any for her birthday, coming up with the same irritating excuse on August the 12th every year.
Oh. It's your birthday? I'm sorry... I've been busy and I kinda thought it was next month...
At least that was when Dr Kozak still hated her of course. Now he kind of appreciated her as a person and daughter, and he wasn't lying or kidding around when he told her he had a present for her either.
Dr Kozak took his daughter to the very back of the laboratory , bending down and giving her a present he so happened to hide in the tiny wooden cupboard under where his Bunsen Burner was.
The box itself was light pink whist the bow tie used to wrap it was silver with a lot of glitter on it.
"Oh my gosh, Dr Kozak, you wrapped this amazingly!" She told him, where Dr Kozak just turned red and stared into space.
"Except I didn't wrap it," he corrected her, where Arista just kind of dropped the present and looked at Dr Kozak blankly.
"If you didn't wrap it, then who did?"
Dr Kozak sighed as he said his next sentence.
"Maria Grace," he told her.
But Agent Arista was still confused.
"Who's Maria Grace?"
Dr Kozak gasped in horror at what his daughter had just asked him.
"You don't know who Maria Grace is? I'm ashamed, Arista. She's like the nicest person in the world! Even nicer than Esperanza, and Esperanza is not that nice anymore."
Agent Arista shook her head.
"Okay but who is she? You still haven't answered my question."
"I'll tell you later," Dr Kozak told her, picking her present up on the floor and handing it to her. "Right now you kinda need to open this."
Although Arista didn't listen to him. She shook it first, and once she heard what it was, she knew that it was alive.
"Oh my gosh, I think my present is a living thing!" She hollered at her father. "I think I just heard it make a noise."
"That's because it is a living thing, Arista," Dr Kozak replied, even more frustrated than before. "Go on then. Open it.... I dare you...."
And so she did. Arista opened it and after she had done that, she gasped and tears were totally filling her eyes.
"You got me a kitten?!" Agent Arista asked him, staring intently at the cute mysterious black creature with green eyes looking back at her.
Dr Kozak smiled and nodded, but didn't say anything because he was just feeling too tired at the moment.
"Well, yeah. I didn't know what else to get you, so I thought of getting you a kitten. Crud. Do you not like it? Should I return it for you?"
Dr Kozak reached out to touch the kitten until his daughter slapped his hand, and backed him away from her.
"No! It's beautiful."
Dr Kozak was pretty sure that Agent Arista loved the kitten more than she loved him, as a father.
"But why would you get me one? I've had like 82 of them in the past, 77 of them are dead."
Dr Kozak didn't know what to say.
There was obviously more than one reason on why he decided to get her a kitten of course, and soon after without even realising it, Dr Kozak gave her a long speech on why he bought her a kitten as a present.
"It's just. I've been in deep thought lately, as in I've been thinking about the past a lot, which kind of bugs me a little bit but you know..."
Except Arista didn't know, she was just blinking at him before admiring her new kitten again, still in the light pink box that Maria Grace, whoever she was, had wrapped for Dr Kozak.
"I felt bad, Arista. Okay? I feel like I've been a terrible father to you for 16 years and that I haven't really tolerated you as a person... It's just that I get really annoyed when you cause problems especially when you cause a lot of problems, which is what you've been doing quite a lot lately. So me shouting at you is me telling you that you should correct yourself. Plus if I don't discipline you, that means I don't love you, and I do love you as a daughter sometimes, so I have to discipline you, and I'm sorry if my disciplines in the past were a bit out of hand."
Agent Arista didn't say anything back, just kind of cried and hugged her father in return, her father not hesitating to do the same thing back.
The hugging bit, not the crying bit.
Then Agent Arista stopped what she was doing and looked at her father blankly.
"Hang on. You love me sometimes? What about other times?"
"I don't love you when you cause problems Arista," Dr Kozak admitted, as both of them headed back to the front of Dr Kozak's laboratory which was when Dr Kozak's computer screen beeped.
"Er, dad..." Agent Arista told him. "Someone wants to video chat you... YourWorstNightmare302?"
Dr Kozak shook his head and frowned as he came closer to her.
"No. That's Diana Valentine. Decline immediately, Arista."
But Arista didn't listen to him. Instead she tried to convince Dr Kozak to accept her request, mainly because of what had happened to Esperanza earlier.
"You know what happened to Esperanza earlier?" Arista reminded him. "Kieran nearly killed her, and I bet DiaVanille was secretly behind all of this. So if you decline DiaVanille's video chat request, she could make things even worse for Esperanza."
Dr Kozak bit his lip. His daughter had a point. Plus he obviously would have hated it if Esperanza had nearly faced death again, especially on her birthday today.
Reluctantly, Dr Kozak had accepted DiaVanille's (Diana Valentine) video chat request, rolling his eyes when he finally saw her.
"Kozak..." She began, fake smiling at him.
"Valentine," Dr Kozak hissed through gritted teeth, downright frowning at her through the whole thing.
"And why are you smiling? We know your teeth are yellow. 50 Shades Of Yellow."
Diana Valentine gasped and swore at him.
"Anyway. Before I insult you one more time, what do you want?"
"To remind you that you're not going to get that golden trophy back on time," Diana reminded Dr Kozak, where Dr Kozak just scowled at her.
"Ooh. Look at your horrible face. Is someone jealous? Is Demetrius jealous?"
Dr Kozak wasn't jealous.
He was crazy jealous.
"Don't call me by my first name, Diana," Dr Kozak told her spitefully. "And no. I'm not jealous. I've got 124- oh wait. We both have 124 trophies and need one left."
Diana Valentine just cackled at him and laughed even more in return.
"Hypocrite. You said that I shouldn't call you by your first name and here you are calling me by mine."
Dr Kozak just stared at Diana confusingly before saying anything else.
"That's because there's nothing else to call you by! Except DiaVanille, and I'm most certainly not calling you that."
Diana was about to say something until her daughter Cynthia Rose came up to the screen, yelling 'Hey, Dr Kozak!' in which Dr Kozak just unenthusiastically replied 'Hi' back until Diana Valentine pushed her to the ground with some sort of gunshot noise going on in the background.
"What. The. Flip. You just killed your daughter!"
"No I didn't. Stop jumping to conclusions, Demetrius."
Dr Kozak: But if you didn't kill your daughter just now, then how comes I literally just heard a gunshot noise going on in the background?
Diana looked at him then at her living daughter then at something at the back of her then at Dr Kozak again.
Diana: That was my oven.
What?
Was she OK?
Who the hell had an oven that made a gunshot sound? And how did she even do that?
Dr Kozak: I'm sorry but your oven makes a gunshot sound?
Diana: Yes- wait. What? Why am I being nice to you? I hate you.
Dr Kozak: Well, I'm glad we finally feel the same way about each other because I definitely hate you too.
Diana: You annoy me so much. I'm hanging up.
Dr Kozak: Same here. Don't care. Good riddance. Bye.
