Chapter 61- Kozak's Annoyed

Inspirational quote: Be the girl or boy who decided to go for it.

Kieran and Esperanza were watching Dr Kozak swear to himself about a million times in Swahili, which was a bit ironic because both of them could see Dr Kozak but Dr Kozak couldn't see them at all.

"Look what you've done, Kieran. I told you that Dr Kozak would kill us if he found out that his car was invisible." Esperanza said to him, looking at him very spitefully.

"I'm sorry, Esperanza, but you never told me that it was a bad idea!" Kieran retorted back, folding his arms.

"Kieran, you should have known yourself that turning the car invisible was a bad idea, you didn't need me spelling it out for you, dude."

Kieran and Esperanza were bickering for a long long time, and stopped once Dr Kozak had hit his car and fell unto the floor once again, forgetting the fact completely that his car was currently invisible.

"Ooh," Kieran said, looking at him. "That's got to hurt."

They then watched a very very very infuriated Dr Kozak open the door and slouch into his car, looking like he had just been beaten up by an invisible person.

He then closed the door behind him and annoyingly did his seatbelt, but didn't actually start the car or say anything just yet.

Kieran then thought that it would have been wise of him to actually say something to Dr Kozak to break the silence.

"Hey, Demetrius," Kieran told him, where Dr Kozak just smacked his hand making Kieran immediately look away from him.

"Don't 'hey' me," Dr Kozak snapped, seriously angry at the moment. "Or call me by my first name."

Then unexpectedly, when Kieran and Esperanza were least expecting it, Dr Kozak brought out a stick he so magically happened to find on the floor, hitting both of them with it until both their eyes were black and they were nearly crying out tears, although mainly Kieran because:

A) it was his fault that Dr Kozak's car had turned invisible in the first place.

B) As so thought by Kieran way too many times, only making Dr Kozak more livid each time, Esperanza was apparently Dr Kozak's favourite child, for some reason.

And C) It felt wrong and weird hitting a girl.

"I knew you two couldn't listen to simple instructions!" Dr Kozak ranted to both of them. "Especially Kieran. I expected more from you!"

"Why me?" Kieran proclaimed back, even more exasperated than before. "Esperanza's older!"

Dr Kozak just shot Kieran an annoyed look, which Kieran saw and actually didn't ignore this time.

"I know I'm older and everything but it was your idea to turn Dr K's car invisible!" Esperanza hollered. "I didn't even do anything!"

"Yeah, except sleep there like a lifeless guinea pig." Kieran muttered back, rolling his eyes in disbelief.

Dr Kozak was just looking at them, really angrily, but didn't say anything because he was that mad at both of them.

"Look. We're sorry Dr Kozak. You're not really going to kill us are you?"

This was coming from Esperanza. Dr Kozak didn't say anything.

"Oh look, he's giving us the silent treatment because he's that mad at us."

Once again, Dr Kozak didn't say anything.

Instead, he started the car but didn't actually start driving yet, then once he saw a mysterious shiny black object on the floor, he surreptitiously stared at it, picked it up and then finally, to finish off, pointed it at Kieran's direction, who was completely clueless on what Dr Kozak was just about to do to him.

He was about to literally kill Kieran but luckily Kieran realised this and ducked right in time so that the bullet of Dr Kozak's secret gun hit the window instead, making it smash.

"Okay! You're mad at both of us! At least talk to us, at least."

"I should have known you two couldn't be trusted," he said to them, more calmer than before but still mad on the inside.

Then, once again, when Kieran and Esperanza weren't really looking, he hit them with that same stick again.

"Dr Kozak, look. We're sorry."

"But what part of 'don't touch the buttons' don't you understand, Kieran? I thought I made it clear," Dr Kozak told Kieran who was sitting at the front, whilst he pressed a razzmatazz coloured button that made the car visible again.

He then stopped the car abruptly, looking like he was about to cry.

"Don't touch the buttons? You never told me that, sir." Kieran told him, blinking at him confusingly.

"Really, Kieran. Check your phone. Check that last text message that I sent you."

So Kieran did just that. He brought out his phone and read the message that Dr Kozak had sent him a few minutes ago, less than half an hour ago.

"Read the freaking message out loud, Kieran," Dr Kozak hissed at him.

"Okay. 'Dr Kozak - oh and don't touch any of the buttons, Kieran'."

Kieran stared at a frustrated Dr Kozak who did the same thing back to a solemn as well as melancholic looking Kieran.

"And how many minutes ago did I send that message to you, Kieran?"

Kieran checked the message again, saying twenty seven out loud then bit his lip until he could almost taste blood.

"Oh I'm sorry. I genuinely never saw this."

Dr Kozak rolled his eyes in disbelief before fully placing his head on the honk of his car.

"Are you okay, sir?"

"Not really," Dr Kozak replied, honestly stressed out at the sound of it all.

Kieran wasn't entirely sure about it but he was pretty sure he heard some tears and when he found out that Dr Kozak really was crying, turned to face Esperanza.

"Esperanza, I think we made Dr Kozak cry," he whispered, turning back to face her.

Esperanza just looked at him, before whispering back to Kieran that she didn't care anymore and that she was going to sleep until they had reached DIE ANNA INCORPORATED, putting headphones on her head and lying down staring at the top of the car.

Kieran then turned back to Dr Kozak again, whose face was fully red with tears for some unknown reason.

"We've apologised like a million times. You have every right to be mad at us, especially me, I know, and I'm truly sorry, honestly..."

Dr Kozak then lifted his head up again, removing his colour blindness glasses which he didn't really need anymore.

Okay, so, he was crying all right.

"I'm sorry. It's just I'm so mad at you guys I can't hold all of this anger inside of me, so I'm just kind of crying angry tears to let the anger all out," Dr Kozak explained.

"I understand," Kieran told him, nodding really slowly. "So me and Esperanza are the reason you're crying?"

Dr Kozak shook his head, making Kieran confused.

"Then what?"

"It's just-" Dr Kozak dried his eyes then put on his colour blindness glasses again. "This car was originally agent Mordecai's which he gave to me a few weeks before he died, and this car just makes me think about him a lot because we were really close friends until his death had to pull us apart even if he was 72 years older than me..."

Kieran didn't know what to say, at least without sounding stupid anyway. Okay, so death was Dr Kozak's weak point. But then why he was so obsessed with it?

"But I think this car is really cool because it can turn invisible and all that-"

"You may think that it's 'cool', Kieran," Dr Kozak interrupted, sobbing but no longer crying at the thought of Agent Mordecai's death.

"But it's actually illegal."

Kieran gasped.

"And before you ask me why or how it's illegal, let me tell you. Kieran, I'm a criminal. I've been hiding away from the police for 17 years now, and surprisingly they're still looking for me. My car can turn invisible. And my car is the only car in all of the U.K. that can turn invisible. The police know that, Kieran. So once they 'see' an invisible car or hear people talking in the invisible car, they'll know it's me, and I'll get arrested again. And before you ask me again, I got arrested the first time because I accidentally manslaughtered someone, as in I mistakingly killed them when I was 18. So I went into jail for a few years, because apparently 'accidentally' killing someone did not exist back in the past. It was either intentional or deliberate. No such thing as accidentally murdering someone."

And Dr Kozak began crying all over again, Kieran just watching him, not knowing what to say.

For about two seconds anyway.

To get Dr Kozak's attention, Kieran continuously tapped him, telling him that he wanted to ask him a question.

"Sure kid. Go ahead."

Kieran remained silent for a while, but once he asked Dr Kozak why he killed people so much, Dr Kozak didn't reply.

The first time, he told Kieran that Kieran really didn't need to know, the second he told Kieran that it was confidential and that it was none of Kieran's business on why Dr Kozak liked killing others that had annoyed him so much, the third, Kozak swore at Kieran twice and the fourth, Dr Kozak just told Kieran:

"I heard that you're a judgmental person, kid."

Kieran was annoyed, whoever told Dr Kozak that was a liar.

"But I'm still going to tell you anyway because it seems like you won't stop asking me that question until I reply."

Kieran just stared at him, Dr Kozak not saying anything.

"Upbringing, Kieran. My father, who is still alive, was a serial killer, who killed people that annoyed him. He got me, my brothers and my sisters to be involved in crime but we all backed down and said no. Except Agent Valentina of course, she loved that kind of stuff, and she still does. Which doesn't really come out as a surprise much because she's, uh, Valentina. Even though I said no, something, just something had me changing my mind before I even realised it, and because of this, my father just started negatively influencing me and since he was a criminal let's just say that I kind of started becoming one too even though I never wanted to be. Also, I had 5 brothers and 3 sisters at that time. And a mother. Guess what, my father killed 2 of my brothers, 1 of my sisters and my mother."

Kieran gasped, and was about to say something but stifled it once he realised that Dr Kozak hadn't actually finished speaking yet.

He couldn't believe he was thinking this but Dr Kozak's life story was actually kind of... Interesting.

"So yeah... My dad influenced me, so now I'm a serial killer and kill people that annoy me, because of my father... Also kinda why I killed Astera and Lauriel, because my father killed his wife and his long lost daughter aka my long lost sister Tiffany as well. Kinda explains why I'm obsessed with death too."

Once again, Kieran didn't reply, because just then Dr Kozak's phone had rung really loudly.

For some reason, Dr Kozak had saved the person that was currently calling him the B word, and when Dr Kozak realised that Kieran was staring at his phone abhorrently, Dr Kozak picked it up immediately.

"Do you mind? I gotta take this."

"Sure. Go ahead."

And once Kieran had said that, he had seen a side to Dr Kozak that he had never really seen before.

How the phone conversation went?
Like this.

Dr Kozak: Oh. I hate you. Shut up!

Dr Kozak: Who cares what you think? I don't care. Shut up. You don't even live here. You live in Italy.

Dr Kozak: Look who's talking.... the devil has possessed you.

Dr Kozak: What in tarnation are you talking about? Go die in a well (*insert b word here*)

Then Dr Kozak started talking very fluently in Swahili, presumably swear words, or words so sophisticated that weren't in Kieran's vocabulary in Swahili.

End of conversation.

Kieran couldn't help but stare at Dr Kozak horrifically as he ended the conversation and put his phone away.

"Jesus! So much swearing! Who was that?!"

Dr Kozak just stared at him, smiling.

"Oh, there's only one person it could have been, Kieran."

Silence.

"My grandma, of course."
