Chapter 51- Well, Hello There, Esperanza

Hey guys! I have decided to change Anastasia''s name has been changed to Esperanza. I'm re writing the entire book. Dr Kozak said he killed Anastasia in Kozak Gone Evil Part 2. Kieran remains the same though but Anastasia's name is different.

If you notice any Anatasias then please let me know so that I can get this changed as soon as possible. Thanks in advance and hope you guys enjoy these next few upcoming chapters (as well as what you've read so far).

Kieran genuinely didn't understand why he needed a costume, after all, Demetrius wasn't wearing one, was he?

"Why do I need a costume if you're not wearing one?" Kieran demanded eagerly. "You're just wearing a lab coat, tuxedo shirt, bow tie, jeans, trainers, a watch and sunglasses. That's not a costume sir. Oh and also a scarf as well."

"I don't really need one," Dr Kozak told him, pushing him inside Costume Stimulator One (aka room 25,252). "I'm not doing any of the missions. You are, and you need to wear one in case something bad happens to you undisguised."

Kieran didn't reply, he just let Dr Kozak push him into the room, whilst Dr Kozak sat somewhere.

"Don't follow me, kid," Dr Kozak commanded, sitting down on a high chair. "Go back. Stay there."

"Why?"

"Don't ask me why. Just stay there."

And so Kieran listened to him, for some reason. In the meantime, Dr Kozak was writing something down, with his right hand, despite the fact that he was ambidextrous.

Without really noticing it, Kieran realised that he was being casually lifted up from the floor, and as soon as that had happened, Michael Jackson's song 'Bad' started playing in the background, in fast motion.

"What... What's happening to me?" Kieran wanted to know, Dr Kozak just watching him, mouthing the lyrics to Bad.

Soon after, after being lifted from the floor, Kieran realised that he was right opposite some sort of clothing.

Kieran watched it blankly, until it kind of attached to him, making him scream because it was so painful.

In the meantime, Dr Kozak was still lip syncing.

Next up were trousers, the same colour as Kieran's top, red and black. That attached to him as well, hurting him even more than the top did.

Next were sunglasses and trainers. Same thing happened, same colour. When everything had ended, Kieran landed right back on the floor, as if arriving back to earth from space.

"Aw man that really hurt.." Kieran groaned, Doctor Kozak walking up to and standing near him.

"You okay?"

Kieran shook his head, making Dr Kozak roll his eyes and help him up.

"Hey, you look really good in that disguise," he admitted truthfully, staring at Kieran.

"Really.." Kieran answered back, eyeing him.

Dr Kozak nodded vigorously.

"Yeah. See now we're partners in crime, Kieran."

"Partners in crime? I thought you said that you weren't a villain?"

Dr Kozak just smirked, escorting Kieran out of the room once and for all.

"Joking."

Kieran eyed him carefully, walking out of the room.

"Maybe."

Kieran went back to look at him for a long, long time.

"Jeez! Do you not understand what the word joke means. Of course I'm not a villain Kieran."

Dr Kozak used to be a villain.

Before he turned sweet and pleasant.

But he didn't mention that to Kieran, Dr Kozak 'never lied' apparently.

"Okay. So what's my first mission! I'm a spy now aren't I?"

Dr Kozak just shook his head, tying his multi coloured rainbow scarf around him.

"Aha. Not necessarily, kid. Just one more thing left for you and me to do."

Kieran was a bit agitated by now. Why? Because he was becoming impatient and excited for nothing.

"Seriously? You've got to be kidding me, Dr Kozak! You only said I had to do three tests, now I bet you've clandestinely added in a fourth one."

Dr Kozak had no idea what Kieran was bleating on about. He didn't say anything for a while as they were walking, Kieran having absolutely no idea on where the heck Dr Kozak was currently taking him.

"Kieran, I haven't 'clandestinely added in a fourth test', when I told you that you only had to do three tests to become a spy, I actually meant it. I meant the last thing for you to do was to choose a partner the opposite gender as you. You never do your first mission on your own. It just doesn't seem right."

Kieran was astonished, so he smiled. As soon as Dr Kozak had said the word partner, Kieran knew exactly who he was going to choose to do his first mission with him.

"Okay, fine. I choose Maria Grace to be my partner," Kieran replied smugly, walking forward, until Dr Kozak brought him back by holding unto his hand.

"Uh, you can't have Maria Grace," Dr Kozak told him.

"Why not?" Kieran queried, half exasperated.

"You don't choose your partner, Kieran." Dr Kozak whispered to him, swearing under his breath as well because he was So. Godforsaken. Sleepy.

"Plus Maria Grace is taken," Dr Kozak warned him quickly, quick enough for Kieran to become even more agitated than before.

Kieran didn't say anything as they walked a few steps upwards to room 26,101 also known as 'The Name Generator'.

"The random number generator in this room chooses your partner for you," Dr Kozak explained, escorting Kieran inside.

It was like the room of Take Me Out, only larger, and there was a colossal wheel of numbers one to fifty in the middle.

"I don't understand how this works," Kieran admitted truthfully, which was when Dr Kozak held his hand, taking him closer to the wheel of 50 numbers.

"Okay. Look at everything around you, Kieran. What do you see?" Kozak asked Kieran, as Kieran turned around, twice, because the room was that gargantuan.

"Girls in the dark, with numbers one to fifty on a number tag located right on top of their heads."

"And what does this wheel say?"

"Numbers one to fifty," Kieran answered, reading it. He had lost his glasses during Spider Mania 2, and on the same day, Dr Kozak bought him contact lenses, which were way more effective and convenient, because when it rained, Kieran's vision wasn't demolished by raindrops on his glasses.

"For this to work, Kieran, you need to spin the wheel, only once, no second chances, and the number it lands on, is your partner for your first mission."

"Seems easy enough!" Kieran echoed, walking closer to the wheel, or in some cases, the random number generator.

Dr Kozak stepped out of the way, mainly for Kieran to spin it. He tried with all of his might to spin it, but it didn't work, leaving Kieran perplexed as to why.

He tried again, Dr Kozak just watching him in the background, not saying or doing anything, and when he thought it was indispensable, eventually muttered something to Kieran, who was fully trying to spin the godforsaken wheel.

"Kieran, kid. Stop what you're doing. It costs real money to do this thing."

Kieran was annoyed, and showed his annoyance by lightly punching Dr Kozak in the arm.

"Why didn't you tell me? How much does it cost then?"

Dr Kozak didn't reply, as his eyebrows pointed the direction of where the slot to put money on the wheel was.

"Read that."

Kieran read it approximately three times, looking back at Dr Kozak blankly.

Damn... Kieran had never seen so many numbers in his life.

"I don't have that much money sir," Kieran muttered, turning red in the process as he muttered that as well. "And why do you have to pay so much just to spin a stupid wheel?"

"This is where me being a millionaire comes in handy," Dr Kozak told him, reaching for some money in his lab coat and giving it to Kieran straight afterwards. "And I didn't make the rules! Stop asking me questions."

After that had happened, Kieran slowly spun the random number generator, both him and Dr Kozak watching to see which number it would land on.

"Number seventeen," Kozak read out loud, turning Kieran to see which girl was going to be his partner for the next mission.

The girl at spotlight number seventeen walked up right in front of Kieran, Kieran intently looking at her.

She basically looked like Vanessa Sterling back at school, except with shorter hair and more freckles and dimples than her and Kieran combined.

She was moreover wearing the same thing as Kieran, except in purple, like all of the other girls and was smiling the whole way through.

Maybe Kieran shouldn't have judged her after all, she seemed way too nice.

"Hey!" She said, waving at him, and turning her face sideways to see Kieran. "I'm Esperanza Garcia. Nice to meet you! I'm going to be your partner for our first mission."

Kieran just looked at her, because he was right about her looking and sounding Spanish, plus he was looking at her because she looked familiar.

"Hang on. Esperanza Garcia. Somehow I've heard your name before. What school do you go to? My name is Kieran Harper."

Esperanza didn't reply, just ended up avoiding the question completely.

"I've heard your name before as well!" She told him, remembering. "Ah yes, Kieran Harper, the guy my brother accidentally got temporarily expelled for two weeks back in year eight."

Well Kieran knew Justin had a cousin named Esperanza, but Justin didn't mention Esperanza's surname or what she looked like or anything like that.

Not that it mattered. Kieran and Justin didn't even talk anyway. They were sworn enemies, and it was probably going to stay that way for the rest of their lives.

Esperanza smiled at him, making Kieran smile back but neither of them had actually said anything to each other.

"Okay, okay," he told her, still half grinning at her.
"Never mention that."

"You guys done?"

Kieran and Esperanza stopped their conversation to stare at Kozak, who was glancing at both of them emotionlessly.

He really wanted to leave the room, it was flipping hot in there, probably the hottest place in the whole of the headquarters to be honest.

"The longer you stay here, the less time we have to do what we need to do," Kozak explained, reaching for bubblegum in his pocket and putting it in his mouth.

After saying that, all three of them walked out, but Dr Kozak deliberately made it so that Esperanza walked out first so that he could whisper something privately to Kieran.

"Oh, and kid," he whispered, placing his right hand on one of Kieran's shoulders, Kieran's whole body turned back.

"Yeah?"

"You're really lucky you got Esperanza."

Kieran eyed him suspiciously, then at Esperanza, who didn't even realise how far ahead she was ahead of both of them.

"Why do you say that?"

Dr Kozak didn't reply, just looked at Kieran, then at Esperanza, then at Kieran again walking forwards.

"She's probably one of the nicest kids I've ever worked with to be honest. Everyone else is quite rude but she's different by far, in a good way."

Moral of chapter: Be nice and pretty like Esperanza. But mainly nice. Inner beauty matters more. Don't forget that :)
