Chapter 5- Theo And Leo

Inspirational quote: Hey you! Yes you. The one reading this. You are beautiful, smart, amazing, wonderful and talented. Never forget that!

"I've finished. Here ya go," Kieran ushered, giving them his sketchbook.

Theo and Leo looked down at it in absolute amazement.

Kieran had written something else on the next page as well to describe him.

He could do more than one style at a time.

Theodore smiled at having seeing what Kieran had drawn, making Kieran smile back. However when he looked at Leo, Leo shot him a dirty look, and Kieran knew why.

Kieran mouthed if Leo could forgive him but he didn't, but then after a while, Leo smiled, realising that it wasn't such a big deal after all.

"You've got an amazing talent, dude," Theo muttered, looking down at Kieran's art book. "I love your style, and the way you've written my name."

Leo was about to say something but he didn't, he was looking at his name. He wanted to cross out 'Da Vinci' and put Capris but he couldn't.

When Kieran or Theo wasn't looking, he flicked the art book to the next page, staring at what Kieran wrote in confusion.

'aka the idiot'.
But who? Leo wanted to know.

"Uh, Kieran..." Leo screamed, tapping him gently, and as he did that, Kieran then turned around.

"Who's the idiot?"
"Oh." Kieran's face fell. "I am. It's me. You'll get used to it."

But Leo wasn't convinced.

"Idiot? With this talent, dude you've got so much to live for. Hey, you should be an artist when you grow up. By the way, your handwriting is insanely neat."

Kieran grinned, but didn't say anything else.

Why they were lying, Kieran didn't know. Kieran's handwriting pretty much looked like a girl wrote it.

"You should sign up for this competition, mate. You could likely win the 70 pounds."
That was coming from Theodore.

Kieran wanted to throw up, throw up in front of them even. Why he was even here, he didn't really know.

"Uh.. Thanks but no thanks." All of a sudden Kieran felt queasy and nauseous. "Art isn't really my thing."

Just then, Leo smacked Kieran hard on his back, so hard that his spine nearly came out. It wasn't intentional but it didn't seem that way.

"Kieran! Are you kidding? You're amazing. Even though you've only done bubble writing, that's probably one of the best bubble writings I've ever seen. You should so enter this competition !"

"...and the fact that you're ambidextrous makes it even better because you could use both of your hands to draw." Leo finished off for Theo. "So if you ever get tired of using one hand, you could switch to the other one just like that!" He clicked his fingers afterwards.

"I'm not fully ambidextrous," Kieran corrected them. "I'm right handed mostly. My right hand got sprained and it really hurts whenever I try and write."

"And your left? What about your left?..." Theo asked him, staring at Kieran in disbelief.

"There's nothing wrong with it. I just prefer my right." Kieran answered, going all quiet all of a sudden.

He was slightly annoyed now. They kept on pressuring him to join the competition when Kieran didn't want to, and soon after, Kieran found himself sluggishly departing away from them.

There was no point was there? The art competition was on 25th April, and right now it was 25th February.

Kieran was almost definitely not going to spend two months practising for a competition especially if he knew he wasn't going to win it: that would have just been a downright waste of Kieran's time.

Almost forgetting that Clyde had existed, and that Clyde was at the park with them, Kieran stared at him intently.

He wanted to text something to him, though Clyde was sleeping, and he didn't want to wake him up.

Yet he still somehow did, for some reason, anyway.

Kieran brought out his phone, before rapidly texting out a text to Clyde. Worst thing was, Leo and Theo were crowding around him the whole time, so it was like they could see him text, or if not, then they could see Kieran text through his sunglasses.

The message Kieran sent Clyde was simple, just insisted that they should get out of the park before it got dark.

Clyde! Clyde wake up, I want to leave. Like, right now.

He sent it straight afterwards, and Clyde received it, making him wake up in frustration.

He read the text message that Kieran sent him, and what was proceeding that was just constant staring at each other.

Kieran's phone beeped instantaneously.

Leo and Theo annoying you? I figured as much. I'm ready to leave when you are.

Leo and Theo crowded around Kieran until he was fully claustrophobic.

"Who you texting there, mate?" Theo wanted to know, almost snatching Kieran's yellow iPhone away from him.

"None of your business," Kieran retorted back, snapping at Theo back in a voice that he didn't even know he owned.

"Realise that we can see through your sunglasses. You're not very sly, Kieran."

"Maybe I don't wanna be sly, just leave me alone will you? Look through my sunglasses all you want. I really don't care," Kieran caterwauled back, still texting Clyde in the process as he said that.

"Speaking of sunglasses..." Theodore trailed off, coming super close to Kieran's face. "You have really nice ones. May I try them?"

Kieran didn't reply. He wasn't resentful, no, he was just a bit astonished really.

No one had really complimented him before, people just saw Kieran as a threat and tried staying away from him as much as humanly possible.

People did compliment Kieran. Mainly your freckles are so cute. As well as your handwriting is amazing. But nothing else.

"But I'm scared you might expand them, ruin them forever, and-"

"So that means yes? Great!" Theodore interrupted Kieran halfway, taking off his sunglasses and wearing them.

"Whoa. Everything is so three dimensional. Kieran, can you see anything?"

Kieran shook his head. His sunglasses were photochromic, so they immediately got darker in the sunlight, and brighter again out of it.

"No. Not now. Not anymore. May I have them back please?"

But Theodore wouldn't listen, and for some reason, Leo and him kept on playing catch with them.

Kieran physically couldn't see. He was long sighted, so he couldn't see things near him, and it was like he had literally gone blind.

"Hey, how many fingers am I holding up, Kieran?" This coming from Leo.

He held up five fingers right in front of Kieran's face. Since Kieran couldn't see, it was like Leo had polydactyl or something.

"I don't know. Seventeen?" Kieran guessed.

"Seventeen!" Theo and Leo mimicked, laughing non stop.

On the bright side, Kieran was given his glasses back, and they weren't as expanded as he thought it would be.

The next thing that Leo and Theo did was probably even worse.

"Hey, who's that kid with the massive ears over there?" Theo enquired, sniggering as he did so as well.

They made it so that they were all facing someone sleeping on a bench, and when Kieran figured out it was Clyde, he turned red immediately and wanted to run away.

"Kieran. You know that kid?"
"Uhm..." Kieran was honestly speechless, he didn't know what to say.

Making fun of him was normal, however Clyde? Usually when someone made fun of Clyde, Kieran would seek revenge on them, or wish karma on them instead.

No one ever insulted Clyde except Kieran.

"Look at him sleep as well! He's drooling everywhere! He needs to close his mouth before all the flies, wasps and bees land in!"

Kieran was fed up, but didn't say anything.
Thank God Clyde was sleeping.

Theo and Leo kept on making fun of Clyde for about two minutes, until Kieran fully lost it.

"You know what!" He shouted at both of them, dropping his water bottle and coming closer to Clyde.

"Yes. Yes I do know him. He's my best mate Clyde. And if you've got a problem with him then you might as well go away, because he's the greatest friend ever and no one can replace him. So what if he's got big ears? I like that! I mean. I don't but, you get what I mean! You guys have small ears, how would you guys feel if I made fun of you guys? You wouldn't like it would you? Exactly! So stop making him feel bad, just because he's sleeping doesn't mean he can't hear you. God made us all beautifully, and if you've got a problem with my best mate then like I said, get lost, or I'll report you."

Kieran sighed heavily, making Theo and Leo back away from him instantaneously and run away.

He repeatedly tapped Clyde on the shoulders before saying anything.

"Clyde."
No response.
"Earth to Clyde?"
Clyde didn't say anything, or move.

Kieran slapped him on the face to and fro.

"Jupiter to Clyde? Mars to Clyde?"

Clyde didn't hear Kieran, or he was pretending not to, it was hard to tell in this scenario.

Kieran had no other choice. He came up super close to Clyde's face, almost making him suffocate, before saying anything else.

"Are you dead?"

Moral of chapter: You will never realise how talented you are at something unless and/or until you try it! And if you've got someone that sticks up for you when you can't do it yourself, then they are a real one and you should never let them go.
