Chapter 43- Kieran's Predicament

Someone help me.
I'm very bored right now.
Is there any way for me to get out of here?

Kieran was in a very hazardous life or death situation at the moment.

He was sitting on a cubed box in the middle of Spider Mania 2, this had been happening for two minutes and the test hadn't even really started yet.

Agent Tyrese had tied his hands and feet to the floor, so Kieran couldn't move or go to the toilet, even if he really wanted to.

And in all honesty, he did.

Why would Dr Kozak do this to him? Kieran knew he was a villain all along.

Or was he?

He was such an enigmatic doctor.

Did Dr Kozak even know he was here?

And was this even the right test?

It was too late to find out.

Kieran wanted to scream for help, and when he did that, all of a sudden, a timer came up on the board.

One minute, thirty seconds.

No wait.

One hour, thirty minutes.

There was no way Kieran was going to stay trapped here for one and a half hours.

He tried to escape, although when he did, some other message came up on the wall right in front of him.

Try and leave or escape before the time limit Kieran, and you die.

-Agent Tyrese.

"You've got to be kidding me!" Kieran screamed. Plus he didn't see why this was called spider mania two anyway.

Before Kieran realised it, the timer started counting down. One hour thirty minutes soon became one hour twenty nine, then twenty eight, then twenty seven...

Kieran just didn't understand why.

Moments later, Kieran heard a buzzing sound.

He didn't know where it was coming from, but it certainly wasn't his phone, he didn't have that on him at the moment.

He wasn't even allowed to anyway.

The buzzing sound progressively intensified, and went through Kieran's ear.

"Oh my god!"

It was a wasp.

Kieran tried swatting the wasp, but it just kept on buzzing around him.

Then came a second one.

And a third...

Then a fourth...

The whole place was practically infested with wasps very soon, and the worst part about this?

Kieran couldn't freaking move!

The wasps were all now stinging his face.

Why the hell was this called spider mania when there were no spiders around whatsoever?

It just didn't make any sense.

Bees were next, followed by tarantulas and spiders.

Kieran physically couldn't feel his face. All around him, no matter where he had looked, his whole body was stung.

Worst of all. The spiders had eaten his glasses. Kieran couldn't see anything right now.

He squinted to check the timer.

Seventy five minutes left?

Oh brother, kill me, Kieran thought to himself.

This was too surreal to be true.

Kieran had to go through this (as in, getting stung, getting bitten, looking like a resurrected zombie) for sixty more minutes until another screen came up on the wall again.

And when Kieran saw who it was, he screamed.

"Dr Kozak?" He cried. "You were behind all this?"

Dr Kozak just cackled at him.

He was crazy all right. Maybe he was under some drugs because he certainly wasn't acting Dr Kozak like.

"Prepare to die, Kieran."

You're a villain?

Kieran wanted to screech out loud, as the bees surrounded his face. Dr Kozak just looked back at him, not saying anything.

"Don't worry, it's not like you would have made it out alive anyway."

Kieran hated him now. Dr Kozak was evil all along and he didn't tell him.

He checked the timer, fifteen minutes left now.

Yes. Time went that quickly.

For some reason, as soon as Dr Kozak had left, the Angry Birds theme tune came up.

Kieran was confused as he kept on staring upwards wondering where the heck it was coming from.

What?

Then just after Kieran had thought that, there came, real...

...Truly real...

...Angry birds.

The angry birds came up to him, pecking at his face continuously.

By now, Kieran was nearly kind of dead.

When the whole thing was over, Kieran screamed in pain as the ropes from his hands and legs were removed casually.

An air horn noisily blared in Kieran's ears when the whole thing was over, so as a result of that, all the tarantulas, spiders, wasps, bees and real angry birds went away.

The door opened, where Dr Kozak was just standing there, looking at him.

"Kid, are you alright?"

Kieran screamed at him.

Did he look aright?

No he didn't, shut up Dr Kozak.

"I can't believe you would do this to me, Dr Kozak!" Kieran cried at him, making Dr Kozak just look at him in surprise.

"What are you talking about?"

"Dude, you know what I'm talking about. Don't act like you don't! Why would you even set this up? Are you trying to kill me at a young age? And what was up with you on that screen?"

Dr Kozak was a little bit ticked off by now.

"That wasn't me," Dr Kozak explained. "That was my son disguised as me. Honestly. I would never lie, Kieran. He just tried to trick you to get you thinking that I was behind all this. And I know I make up all of the tests in here but I didn't make up this one. My wife did."

Kieran didn't reply.

At least straight away anyway.

He should have known Agent Tyrese was behind all this.

Agent Tyrese hated him so much.

"Speaking of your son... Where's Agent Tyrese?" Kieran demanded in frustration. "I thought the same person that took you to the tests had to come and collect you as well."

Dr Kozak nodded in agreement before his face fell.

"Oh. He died." Dr Kozak said really nonchalantly, as if he didn't care at all that his son had just somehow melancholically died.

"Died?" Kieran repeated.

Dr Kozak just stared blankly at him before nodding his head really sluggishly.

"Yep."

"How?" Kieran asked.

"Accidentally fell off the rooftop just now."

"And you didn't do anything about it?" Kieran queried in disbelief.

"I couldn't have. Truth be told I only found out about this like thirty seconds ago anyway because my sister Agent Valentina told me. And before you asked how he killed himself, he jumped off the highest floor of this building, a truck hitting him. He did this before anybody could stop him. Goodness knew why."

Dr Kozak didn't mention the fact that he himself was a suicide addict.

Kieran couldn't respond without sounding stupid or insane.

"Anyway." Dr Kozak tried diverting the subject a little bit. "How was your test?"

Kieran just shot him a 'don't even ask me that question' look, which Dr Kozak understood immediately and so therefore tried saying something else.

"Well, at least you made it out alive," Dr Kozak told him, smiling at him.

"I know right? I mean I really could have dieeddd-"

Kieran fainted just then and there, after elongating the word 'died'. Dr Kozak unexpectedly caught him, still a bit puzzled on what had just happened.

People around him just saw him, not doing anything, and looking away. Dr Kozak did the same thing back, turned back to Kieran, and slapped his face continuously to and fro.

"Kieran."

He smacked him. No response.

"Kierannnnnnn."

There was absolutely no way that Dr Kozak was going to perform CPR on Kieran in front of everybody here.

"Crud. I think Kieran's dead."

He thought this to himself for a while, trying all he could to wake Kieran up again, at least, if he wasn't actually dead.

Many other agents were walking past Dr Kozak until Dr Kozak saw someone who he thought could seriously help him out here.

"Agent Sylvester!"

Agent Sylvester was Dr Kozak's cousin, and almost 70% of the people in KOZAHKISTAN HEADQUARTERS were related to Dr Kozak in one way or the other.

He basically looked like Dr Kozak, just shorter, 35% less handsome and well, Sylvester.

"What?" He snapped.

"We have a teenager down. I repeat, we have a teenager down!"

Agent Sylvester believed Dr Kozak immediately, at least once Dr Kozak had proved to him that Kieran probably wasn't alive anymore.

Soon after, both of them were desperately rushing to KOZAHKISTAN HOSPITAL, placing Kieran on a bed next to Dr Kozak's other sister, Nurse Elizabeth.

Beep beep...

That was the sound of Kieran's heart monitor going around the room quietly. It seemed to be the only thing that was making noise at the moment.

And it remained like that for a while, until suddenly, not inevitably, there was a straight line.

Beeeeeeeeeep.....

Dr Kozak gasped, whilst the others just remained quiet.

He was a doctor, although he forgot what a straight line had meant because he had been working at KOZAHKISTAN HEADQUARTERS for so long, not being a doctor.

"What does a straight line mean..." He trailed off.

Nurse Elizabeth placed a hand on Dr Kozak's shoulder, sighing.

"It means that Kieran's heart has stopped beating. It's known as asystole when there's a straight line."

"So does that mean..."

"Yep," Agent Sylvester interrupted, also placing a hand on Dr Kozak's shoulder. "There's no simple way to break it to you but..."

Dramatic pause.

"...Kieran's dead."
