Chapter 28- Leave And You Die, Lauriel

Lauriel had changed her mind from hating where she was to loving it in under five seconds.

"This place is amazing!" She echoed, still having the time of her life on the vibrating massage chair.

"It's nice to hear that." The doctor replied sharply. "Marcel and Tyrese will be here shortly with your tub of ice cream."

Just then the two agents came back in, with one of the most enormous tub of ice creams that Lauriel had ever seen in her life.

They dropped the enormous tub of bubblegum ice cream in front of Lauriel, telling her to enjoy it while it lasted.

Then Agent Marcel gave her a spoon, before standing next to the doctor again.

Agent Marcel and Tyrese were wearing exactly the same thing that the doctor was wearing, including the sunglasses as well.

It was also stated that agent Marcel was the doctor's son whilst agent Tyrese was Agent Marcel's twin brother.

Lauriel was about to open the tub of ice cream but dropped it, mainly because it was too massive and she couldn't eat all of this alone.

Plus she kept on staring at all three of them whilst they talked to each other about something.

Wow. These agents are so handsome, I might have to break up with Justin. Lauriel thought to herself. The doctor as well.

Doctor K looked at Lauriel blankly, then confusingly.

"What you just thought there was really weird," he told her.

Lauriel dropped her spoon, as well as the tub of ice cream , glaring at him confusingly.

Plus she hadn't even started eating it yet.

"What do you mean?" She wanted to know, raising an eyebrow at him and twirling her ice cream spoon around.

"I can read your mind, kid," the doctor answered. "Don't ask me how. It's just a gift. I realised this like two years ago anyway. That I've got telepathy."

Pfft. Yeah right, he can read my mind. That's stupid. He's stupid. This whole thing is stupid. Who does he think I am? A two year old kid? Please. Unless this is the future and aliens exist, I'm not convinced that this dim witted doctor can read my mind.

"Okay what you just thought there was kind of really rude!" The doctor shouted at her, accidentally on purpose throwing something in the process at agent Marcel.

Oh. He can read my mind, Lauriel thought to herself, playing mind games with Doctor K.

"Yes I can, kid," the doctor asserted. "Now. Hurry up. Eat your ice cream. I kinda have to ask you something."

"Is the ice cream poisonous?" Lauriel asked, double checking before she ate it.

The doctor just shot her a dirty look in return.

"Not poisonous then..." She trailed off, looking away from him and opening her tub of ice cream once and for all.

Technically screaming at them, Doctor K commanded agent Marcel and Tyrese to leave the room whilst he went to go and talk to Lauriel in private about something.

He malevolently locked the door on her.

"So Lauriel," he said melodramatically. "Remember me? I'm pretty sure you know me."

Lauriel stopped eating her tub of ice cream then switched off the massage chair, looking at him in absolute perplexity.

"How do you know my name?" She hollered really loudly for the whole world to hear.

The doctor didn't reply, he just chuckled mischievously at her.

"Because I know you, silly. You just need to go into retrospect because I'm pretty sure you know who I am, you just can't seem to remember."

Lauriel shook her head, shamefully admitting that she had no idea who the doctor was.

The doctor fixed his eyes on her in surprise, coming even closer to her than last time.

"Really. Look up," he ordered.

So Lauriel did.

She looked up, where there was a fluorescent luminous neon sign which she hadn't even noticed was there before.

And on it were two words.
Two somewhat long words.

Which simply said:

KOZAHKISTAN HEADQUARTERS.

And in all caps lock, just like that.

Lauriel looked back down again, still shaking her head in disbelief.

"I'm really sorry, sir. But your name doesn't seem to be ringing a bell."

"Look up again," Doctor K insisted, impishly smiling at her.

And so Lauriel did.
This time she looked up for even longer than last time.

About fifty seconds longer.

Kozahkistan.
Kozahkistan.
Kozahkistan.

Lauriel had heard that name before, but where exactly?

Although, after about twenty seconds of starting intently at the word Kozahkistan, the doctor's name was sluggishly starting to ring a bell.

Then Lauriel realised.

"Doctor Demetrius Kozahkistan!"

The doctor grinned at her, wanting to fist bump her for finally remembering his name, because he was so happy, but he didn't.

"At long last. Do you remember who I am now? Although call me Dr Kozak. Demetrius Kozahkistan was so seven years ago."

Lauriel nodded vigorously, smiling jubilantly all the way.

"Yes, I do remember you. You were my mother's first husband before she divorced you. I don't know why though, because you seemed pretty legit. I never got to meet you either. I wish I did."

Doctor Kozak grimaced complacently to himself, but said nothing else.

"Your mother still talks about me?" He enquired Lauriel in surprise.

"She used to. She doesn't anymore because she's remarried now."

Dr Kozak's smile became a frown within ten seconds after he had heard that.

"You look jealous, Dr Kozak." Lauriel noticed, slowly eating her ice cream.
She practically had a brain freeze by now.

Snapping out of his daydream about Lauriel's mother, Doctor Kozak stopped then turned to her.

"Oh. No no no, I'm not 'jealous'," he added quickly, turning red and frantically shaking his head. "I've got a brand new wife of my own. Thank you very much."

Lauriel wasn't convinced still.

"You sound and look jealous," she pointed out.

Dr Kozak lost it then. Literally. He turned red even more than before, before screaming at the top of his lungs at Lauriel, his hair practically spiking up as well because he wast that infuriated.

"I'm not jealous!" He howled, jumping up and down. "Your mother left me. And that's fine. Really, I've moved on and have another wife. Jesus."

He's crazy jealous, Lauriel thought to herself, smirking at him.

Doctor Kozak looked at her, giving her an 'I heard that!' look, before lifting her up of the massage chair and placing her somewhere else.

"Anyway. All jokes apart, Lauriel. How would you like to do me a little favour?" Doctor Kozak asked her.

He kept on staring at her, as if to force her to say yes, although Lauriel was petrified, as in petrified on what the doctor was going to ask her.

"What's... What's the favour?"

"It's nothing dangerous or illegal, don't worry," Doctor Kozak muttered back soothingly. "I was going to ask you if you'd like to become a spy."

Lauriel looked at him blankly, before blinking continuously about a million times.

"A spy?" She repeated, still looking half astonished.

Doctor Kozak didn't say anything major. He just nodded and smiled at her.

"Yes, a spy. That is what I said right? Keep up, kid."

"So let me get this straight," Lauriel ranted. "You got agent Marcel and Tyrese to kidnap me just because you wanted me to become a spy? Seriously? You could have just texted my mother or something, you know."

"I know. But there was no other way to get to you. I didn't want to contact your mother in case she blocked me on her phone or something. Plus, I wanted to ask you this in person. Seems more, I don't know, mainstream. And meaningful. Conversations are more meaningful in person than through text."

Lauriel didn't reply.

Though he was right. He did have a point.

"This is ridiculous. I'm leaving."

She had barely even taken one step out of her seat before Doctor Kozak smacked her hand really really painfully, so painful that Lauriel half cried, coercing her to sit back down again.

"Leave and you die, Lauriel," he assured her.

Lauriel didn't reply.
At least, physically, anyway.

You're playing hard to get, Lauriel thought to herself, angrily.

"Yes, I am playing hard to get," the doctor agreed. "And you will sign this contract, agreeing that you will become a spy."

Doctor Kozak magically brought out a light pink piece of paper from his tuxedo jacket pocket and handed it to Lauriel.

She gazed at it longingly, her face looking completely disorientated at first, before looking back up at Dr Kozak, who was looking down at her, literally.

"And what happens if I don't want to sign it?" Lauriel wanted to know, making Dr Kozak exasperated as he couldn't take this much longer.

"Don't sign the contract... And you get beheaded Lauriel..."

Lauriel signed the contract immediately.
