Chapter 22- Vanessa On Kieran's Nerves
Inspirational quote: You will never realise how strong you are, until being strong is the only option you have.

Vanessa was seriously winding Kieran up at the moment.
"Why shouldn't I ignore you?" He bellowed. "After everything you've done to me? I thought you hated me."
"I never said that. Can you please stop putting words into my mouth that I never said?" Vanessa argued.
"Well. Yeah, I thought you were mad at me," Kieran pointed out, wanting to go away until Vanessa abruptly pulled him back.
"Yeah. You said it yourself. I was mad at you. It's past tense now. But I'm not anymore."
Kieran honestly didn't want to talk to her. Despite him used to having a massive crush on her, and still kind of having one today, Kieran genuinely hated Vanessa.
Kieran rolled his eyes, as Vanessa pulled him back again once he tried to escape.
"What do you want, Vanessa?" Kieran barked, frightening the life out of everyone.
"Kieran, please. Just listen. I'd like to get back together."
After twenty minutes? Well then... Kieran didn't know he was someone worth getting back together with, let alone that quickly.
Kieran didn't reply for a while.
After a minute or two, he finally knew what to say.
The reason on why Kieran took so long to respond was because he went into retrospect and kept on thinking about past times.
Past times as in, when he was deeply in love with Vanessa, before they talked properly, before he found out her name.
Kieran remembered everything, two years ago. That was right, he had been liking Vanessa for two years, but hadn't talked to her until now.
He had only found out her name two weeks ago as well, despite fancying her for about, over 700 days.
He was hanging out near the lockers with Clyde, at least when they were friends anyway.
•flashback•
Clyde was putting his maths books away, as they were talking about a recent test they had just done, when suddenly, mainly by accident, Kieran saw a beautiful girl walking down the hallway.
"Cute girl alert," Kieran whispered to Clyde, frantically tapping him. This was two years ago, and Kieran's voice was still high pitched compared to now where it was the complete opposite.
He didn't wear glasses either, but obviously, throughout the years Kieran's vision grew worse every day due to him always having his eyes really close to some sort of screen, if not then mainly TV screen.
"Clyde. I repeat. Cute girl alert."
Annoyingly, Clyde looked up, as she walked across the hallway, Kieran still watching her, but then he dropped his books.
"She's really pretty," Kieran added dreamily, still looking at Vanessa. "I'm going to ask her if I can marry her."
Kieran took one pace forward before Clyde pulled him backwards, play slapping him.
"Dude. Are you crazy? Do you want to make a bad impression in front of her?"
Kieran didn't reply.
"Plus, she's not that great," Clyde told him, looking into Kieran's eyes.
"Are you kidding me, Clyde? She's perfect. She is adorable. She's the cutest girl I've ever seen in year eight."
Clyde slapped him before continuing, then became annoyed because Kieran still wouldn't listen to him.
"No. Kieran, listen to me, she's not beautiful. She is annoying. Trust me."
Kieran wasn't convinced. He kept on looking at her, until she had to leave, not noticing Kieran once.
"Pffft. And how would you know? Is she your sister or something? You wish! You're probably just jealous because she's not as beautiful as you are."
Clyde turned red, indicating that he was blushing. He didn't say anything.
"I'm going to ask her out-"
"Kieran!" Clyde yelled, bringing him back and Chinese burning him. "You're barely even thirteen. Year eight is really not the right time to start dating you know... So do not ask her out. She isn't even worth it to be honest."
Clyde and Kieran were arguing about the new girl Kieran seemed to like for about forty seconds or so, before Clyde gave up as Kieran walked away to her, making Clyde bang his head on the lockers near him.
Clyde watched Kieran angrily as he went over to the new girl.
I tried to warn him, he thought to himself, walking away. That girl just isn't as wonderful as Kieran thinks she is.
Kieran must have been thinking about when he first saw Vanessa in the school for way too long because he was staring at her, his body looking half frozen.
He was brought back to the present day again when Vanessa clicked her fingers right in front of Kieran's face, making him snap out of his retrospect immediately.
"Kieran!" She shouted. "You okay?"
Kieran nearly fainted, but was mainly alerted.
"Huh. I'm sorry what? Where were we? I seemed to have gone back to two years ago."
Vanessa glared at him confusingly, raising an eyebrow at him then looking away.
"Right..." She trailed off, rolling her eyes. "I asked you if we could get back together again."
Kieran was seriously about to faint and kiss her until he remembered that he was mad at her then put on his resentful face.
"Let me think about it," was all he said.
Vanessa grinned.
"No," Kieran replied instantaneously.
Vanessa shot Kieran a death glare, but all Kieran did back was to flash a cheesy smile at her.
But Vanessa wasn't taking no for an answer.
"Please, Kieran."
Kieran, in the meantime, wasn't taking yes for an answer.
"No Vanessa. Now scram."
Vanessa kept on forcing Kieran to say yes until Kieran was really fed up that he just had to yell at her.
Anger was boiling up in Kieran's blood for a while, and he wanted to scream at someone.
Vanessa was going to be that person, whether she liked it or not.
"No, Vanessa. I am not getting back together with you. You annoy me. I annoy you. Get over it."
Vanessa screamed back to Kieran as well.
"I thought you loved me?"
Kieran hyperventilated continuously before continuing. He didn't shout much, only when he was annoyed.
He seriously hated Vanessa at the moment.
"Yeah. You said it yourself. I did love you. It's past tense now. I don't anymore," he mimicked, making Vanessa slap him and walk away.
"Fine. I never knew you had anger issues. It's not like I ever liked you anyway. Screw you, Kieran. Who needs you when you're as hot as me?"
Calming down, Kieran took a deep breath and called Vanessa's name again.
"Wait. Vanessa. Come back. I'm really sorry. I'm just ticked off."
Vanessa stopped, not believing what Kieran had just told her at first. Indignantly, she walked backwards, smiling at Kieran when she finally reached him again.
"Yes. We can get back together again. You just need to convince me on why."
Vanessa flashed a grimace towards Kieran's direction, telling him that she had a real song to show him online.
So he played it, and he half smiled.
Let's just get back together.
We should have never broke up.
They're telling me.
That my heart..
Won't.
Beat again.
We should have stayed together.
'Cause when you left me, it stopped...
They're telling me.
That my heart..
Won't.
Beat again.
Beat again.
It's killing me... oh.. beat again.
Best again.
It's killing me...
"Okay, okay..." Kieran laughed, handing Vanessa back her phone and grinning. "You're forgiven."
And after saying that, they kissed again, everyone around them throwing up, whilst some were taking pictures.
"Vanessa. I'm really sorry. For everything. Mainly for believing Clyde. I should have known he was lying. But I didn't. I'm so sorry. Please forgive me."
Vanessa interlocked her hand through Kieran's and placed her head on Kieran's shoulder.
"Nah it's fine. He must have sounded pretty serious if he got to convince you like that. Don't worry. I probably would have believed him as well."
Kieran grinned again as he ran a hand through Vanessa's hair.
They walked across the entire hallway together until school began.
"You know..." Kieran trailed off. "In France, women don't usually date."
Puzzled on why Kieran was talking about France all of a sudden, Vanessa looked at him, perplexed , then laughed as she kissed him lightly again.
"And how do you know about the French tradition all of a sudden?" Vanessa scoffed, looking at him. Kieran did the same back to her.
"Because. I'm from France. Duh. I was born there, raised here in the UK," Kieran told her.
Vanessa was bewildered as her face fell, not realising that Kieran was from France.
She should have known. No wonder he got like a hundred percent in every French test. It was self explanatory, really.
School for Kieran was a lot better than the day before, but also a bit crazy as well.
Why?
Because Lauriel had apologised to Kieran for being moody yesterday. It had turned out that two of her pets had died on the same da and she couldn't really cope.
Kieran probably shouldn't have planned his half term before it actually started because he arrived at home, his planned were demolished.
Completely.
He met his father inside, with a suitcase, frantically packing as though his life depended on it.
"You okay dad?" Kieran wheezed, watching him run up and down the house like his life depended on it, slightly.
When Kieran had said that, his father stopped to look at him, before squeezing him into a reluctant and unprecedented hug.
"Oh Kieran. Thank god you're here! We have to leave!"
"Why?"
Kieran's father didn't reply. He just kept looking on outside, which was where screaming was going on.
How did he explain this to his son without making Kieran freak out internally?
"Dad? I'm waiting for an answer?"
His father was brought back to earth from Jupiter again once Kieran had said that.
"Oh right. Kieran, there's a war going on. We have to evacuate. Or we both die."

Moral of chapter: Just because someone is beautiful on the outside does not necessarily mean that they are on the inside! Inner beauty matters more. Remember that before you judge someone or fell for them.
