Chapter 11- Tornado, Tornado

"Initiating countdown starts now. Twenty..."
A lot of people were frantically screaming now, as they all grabbed their bags like their lives had depended on it and tried to escape.
"Nineteen."
"Kieran! Why are you just standing there? Do something!"
Kieran turned around. The words were coming from his father.
He couldn't take this anymore.
"Eighteen..."
Kieran had to run, so he did. This time he went off with his family, and this was mainly because he had absolutely no idea on where Vanessa had mysteriously disappeared to.
Everyone was running for their lives at the moment, Kieran's family included. Although as soon as Kieran was running, he must have tripped or something because the next moment, he had unexpectedly found himself lying down on the floor.
His stepfather looked back at him.
"What the? No! Kieran!!"
Kieran didn't get up. He seriously wanted to die there, but his father thought otherwise.
"Why are you still down there? You've got to get up, Kieran."
Kieran's father helped him up, but when Kieran's father wasn't looking, Kieran went the opposite way to find Vanessa.
No such luck though.
For some reason, the suicide bomb seemed to have remained on number eighteen for a long time.
By the time it hit seventeen, something even worse happened.
It wasn't that the suicide bomb lied about having seventeen seconds left to live and get out and it blew off early, it was probably even worse than that.
Unprecedentedly, Kieran heard a shaking sound, and soon after, the other people in the chapel that were still in the building had heard it as well.
The shaking sound became even more vigorous twenty seconds after.
What was going on?
"Sixteen...fifteen...fourteen..."
The suicide bomb started counting in threes now, and not ones, and this was to tell people that they really didn't have that much time to live and get out.
The shaking sound was way too strong now. The chapel soon started vibrating along with the shaking sound as well.
Once Kieran realised what it was, he screamed at the top of his lungs.
It was a tornado.
It wasn't an earthquake because things were moving around in circles and the wind was blowing through the closed windows that were now somehow open and everything was disorientated as well as out of place.
"A terrorist attack and a tornado on the same day?" Kieran muttered to himself lividly. "Can the world become even more insane?"
It wasn't Anthony's fault though, the weather said sunny all day throughout. In no way did the weather said that were there any chances of rain or tornadoes today.
If he could have changed things he would have, but that would have been too stressful and time consuming.
Kieran soon found himself heading outside of the church chapel, where he shortly came across Vanessa who looked worse than usual, funnily enough for him.
"Vanessa!" Kieran shrieked. "Thank god you're still alive! You would not believe how much I-"
But Kieran was stopped halfway via the suicide bomb, where it kept on counting down intermittently.
"You have ten seconds. I repeat, ten seconds left to live. Starting now. Ten."
"Kieran!" Vanessa screeched.
"Nine."
Kieran didn't just stay there, he tried moving, albeit the tornado was too powerful that walking or running was physically impossible.
By the time the suicide bomb had hit five, Kieran and Vanessa had tried to escape the chapel.
They did, however everyone was beckoning them to cross the road so that they didn't die, but there was no traffic light in sight at all.
"Kieran. You okay?"
Hyperventilating and stressed out after everything that had happened, Kieran wheezed before sighing heavily, placing his hands on his knees and panting.
Three seconds left before the chapel blew up, if Vanessa and Kieran were close to it when it did, then they would die instantaneously.
"Two..."
"Kieran! Vanessa! Cross the road!"
That was also physically impossible, although by the time the suicide bomb had hit one, Kieran and Vanessa crossed the road.
They were holding hands as the suicide bomb blew up, setting the chapel on fire.
Unfortunately, Vanessa tripped in the middle of the road. Kieran hadn't realised or noticed that until he found out that he wasn't holding anyone's hand anymore.
He looked back.
"Vanessa!"
She was in the middle of the road, tripping on the sidewalk. She wasn't badly hurt but she wasn't not hurt at the same time.
A car was about to hit her, but it stopped suddenly as the middle aged Indian man inside helped Vanessa up and walked her across the road.
"She's okay!" They bellowed, walking over. "She's perfectly fine guys! Don't worry about anything."
Kieran was relieved, and so was the rest of his family, as the people in the chapel that had survived were making their way home.
The tornado had abruptly stopped now, but despite all of that, an awful lot of damage had been recklessly done.
Kieran's family, him and Vanessa were now resting in the hospital as they were waiting for their limousine to come. Vanessa had sprained her ankle so she needed a cast but she was okay.
"Is everyone okay?" Kieran's stepmother asked them, checking each and everyone of them to see if they were alright.
What she got back were a bunch of nods from all of them, however something was missing....
Someone was missing, actually.
"Hang on. If everything is okay, then where's..."
Kieran looked around for his siblings. Everyone was there.
Everyone that had escaped, was there.
Kieran had three siblings, but he could only count and see two. Cameron was there, Jessica was there, but...
"Where's Susannah?" Kieran wanted to know, desperately looking for her but not finding her anywhere.
"I can't find Susannah, guys," Kieran told them, checking the hospital once again, before he went outside of it to find her.
"Who's Susannah?"
That was coming from Vanessa after she was placed in her cast and was now in crutches, with Katherine helping her.
Kieran explained to her how Susannah was his sister, and he was physically crying as well because Susannah was the sibling that he liked the most.
After a few tears from Kieran, as well as frequently asking where Susannah was, his stepfather placed a hand on Kieran's shoulder, wanting to cry with Kieran too.
"Kieran, I'm afraid to say this but..." He trailed off frantically, tears coming down from his eyes as well.
"Susannah died. The suicide bomb blew up before she had a chance to escape. I'm really sorry."
Everyone was in tears now, except Vanessa, she had to leave.
The funeral for Susannah, including everyone else that had died on the day of the wedding as well, lasted on the 10th of March, and Kieran had to miss half a month of school due to the event.
When Kieran had arrived back into the hallway after eighteen days, people kept on shooting him dirty looks, and to really infuriate Kieran, someone yelled "Ice Hockey Jerk" for the whole of the school to hear.
Frustratingly going to his locker, Kieran annoyingly took his books out, only to find out that he had packed for the wrong day.
Crud.
Kieran had been feeling a bit under the weather lately. If he could have missed a few more days off of school, then he would have, although it was by force that Kieran had to go to school, ignoring the fact that he was totally sick at the moment.
When he had eventually finished sorting out his locker, which felt like a millennium or so but was really only a couple of minutes, Kieran turned around.
There, looking at him, was his ex best friend Clyde, who Kieran had sworn to himself never to talk to unless he desperately needed something from him.
"Whoa, dude, where've you been for like, half a month?"
Kieran didn't reply, he was still mad at him and was therefore not in the mood to talk to him.
Tears nearly filled Kieran's eyes of thinking about his sister and her death at the chapel, and there was absolutely no way that talking to an egotistical, pretentious person named Clyde was going to make Kieran feel any better.
Even if Clyde was practically the only person he had, that didn't hate him anyway.
"Please, Clyde, go away. I've had a rough couple of weeks, my sister just died, and I honestly can't be bothered with anyone right now. Just go."
But Clyde wouldn't listen to him, only making Kieran to feel even more resentful than before.
"A bit rude don't you think? Plus what do you mean, you had a rough couple of weeks? You went to a wedding didn't you?"
Kieran wanted to strangle and yell at Clyde, and so he did.
He didn't care who was watching, what people thought of him, he yelled at Clyde as loud as he possibly could, and he didn't feel remorse at all when he did that.
"My sister just died, Clyde," Kieran rhymed, making everyone stare at him in horror.
Once Kieran had had enough of Clyde, he walked out of the hallway, people still spitefully looking at him, but he didn't care, not at all.
Not one bit.
