Chapter 44- Wrong Test Room, Kieran...

Dr Kozak tried not to explode with tears as the devastating news of Kieran's death filled his mind.
"I'm really sorry, Demetrius." Elizabeth told him, where Dr Kozak smacked her hand away, telling her to 'never call him by his first name despite the fact that they were related'.
Once again, there was silence, at least until Dr Kozak was pretty sure that he had heard a coughing sound coming from Kieran's direction.
And it was coming from Kieran's direction. When Kieran had coughed just now all three of them were looking at him very confusingly.
"You're alive?" Dr Kozak whispered, then came closer to Kieran to see if it was really true. "You're alive!"
Although what Dr Kozak didn't understand was the fact that there was a straight line on Kieran's heart monitor.
"Oh yeah, I forgot. It's not working properly. I need to go and fix it. Sylvester, come with me."
They both left the room, claiming that it was only because they felt that it was important for Dr Kozak to talk to Kieran in private, until Dr Kozak called Elizabeth's name again.
"Oh and Elizabeth!" He echoed, where she popped her head around the door.
"Get that heart monitor fixed ASAP. Or else."
She nodded, indicating that she understood, then she eventually left.
Kieran in the meantime was utterly confused on where the hell he was right now.
"You okay kid?"
This was coming from Dr Kozak, obviously. After all he was the only one that was currently in the room with Kieran.
Kieran was having some paranormal hallucinations at the moment.
"God... Is that you? Am I in heaven?"
Dr Kozak frowned.
"No, Kieran, you're in hospital. Hate to break it to you but it's true..."
"What?"
The hospital room had practically vibrated once Kieran had said that.
"Why am I in the hospital?"
Dr Kozak sighed and played with the yoyo on Kieran's hospital and nearly death bed.
"Kid. You fainted. I don't know why, or how, you just fainted. I tried getting you to wake up again but it backfired. So we took you to the hospital. I'm guessing you must have fallen into a ten minute coma or something because you physically wouldn't wake up for ten minutes. And your heart monitor said a straight line, known as asystole apparently, meaning that you were dead. But it actually turns out that it's broken."
Kieran's eyes widened immediately. Then he remembered why he had fainted and yelled at Dr Kozak.
"I can't believe you would give me a test like that!" He ranted at him. "Dr Kozak, I nearly died for real, and it's all your fault. Why would you even think about locking me up in a room for ninety minutes, with wasps and spiders and angry birds? And why would you name your test Spider Mania 2 if there were more than just spiders involved?"
Dr Kozak froze once Kieran had said that, then stared at him in bewilderment once he realised something.
"Hang on. Spider Mania 2?" He repeated. "What test room did you go to?"
"Three hundred and thirty," Kieran replied instantaneously, where Dr Kozak just did a face-palm and hollered back at him.
"No, I didn't say test room three hundred and thirty, I said test room three hundred and thirteen! One three, not three zero! Were those instructions so hard to understand?"
He then did another face palm, in indignation this time not frustration like last time or earlier.
"What? So I took the wrong test?"
"Well, yes. Basically," Kozak replied, a lot more annoyed than last time. "I told you to go to the perilous obstacle course test reversed, not Spider Mania 2. Never did I mention the words 'go to Spider Mania 2'!"
"So do I have to do the right test now because I did the wrong one?"
Dr Kozak was really considering it. He took what felt like ten minutes but was really only forty eight seconds, before shaking his head and staring longingly at Kieran again.
"Nah. I'm not like that. I'd hate to see you suffer again, kid."
Kieran smiled.
"And it's good to see you're smiling, but I'm just about to ruin it now by telling you it's time for your curfew."
Kieran was about to check his watch, but remembering that one of the spiders had eaten it during Spider Mania 2, he briefly checked Dr Kozak's watch instead.
"What? But it's..." He squinted to see the digital numbers on Dr Kozak's watch- it was really difficult seeing without his glasses.
"Barely even seven o'clock!"
Dr Kozak nodded in agreement once again.
"I know. Your curfew is early. The early bird catches the worm, Kieran. Plus, your test, your written test, is tomorrow, and it's really long."
Kieran felt queasy and nauseous all of a sudden as Dr Kozak escorted Kieran out of KOZAHKISTAN HOSPITAL then into the main hallway where all of the rooms were.
Fifteen minutes later (because it felt like it), Dr Kozak had teleported Kieran into his room, on room 17,383 out of the possible 50,000.
"This is going to be your room, for now," Dr Kozak whispered to him as he walked inside. "Very extra terrestrial."
Kieran was amazed, honestly. Despite his room being extra terrestrial, it was fully yellow. Fluorescent colours were filling the background everywhere, and for once, the carpet didn't look diseased.
On one colour of his room was a mini private toilet and bathroom, just like at home before the war and everything.
This room was amazing! You wouldn't expect a fifteen year old boy to love a rainbow coloured room but Kieran was utterly astonished by it.
"Why, 'for now'?" Kieran quoted.
"You'll see, much much later," Dr Kozak whispered back to him. "Anyway, Kieran, you need to sleep. Busy day tomorrow."
Kieran didn't reply. He just went to bed. He wasn't bothered on wearing his pyjamas. He was going to shower straight away tomorrow morning in the same clothes as today.
"Wait! Dr Kozak!" Kieran bellowed as Dr Kozak was about to walk away. Dr Kozak just turned back to him.
"Yeah? You alright?"
"I don't have an alarm," Kieran whispered truthfully, turning red.
Dr Kozak just grinned at him, walking out of the door very casually. Then he popped his head around the door as well.
"Oh. Don't worry. I will be your alarm tomorrow. Goodnight Kieran."
Then he was off for the day, despite it only being seven o'clock in the evening.
*******
Kieran practically couldn't sleep the next day. Thunder and lightning was going on outside his windows and he couldn't sleep straight through it.
He had only managed to sleep one hour before Dr Kozak came back into his room, continuously blowing an air horn towards the ceiling.
"Harper! Wake up and hear the buzz! Harper, wake up and hear the buzz."
Kieran had no idea what this meant of course. Although when he woke up, he soon figured out why Dr Kozak had said that.
Opposite him was a wasp, just like in Spider Mania 2, and it was buzzing around the front of his face.
Kieran screamed. He tried hitting the wasp with his pillow but it just went straight through Kieran's ear and back out again.
Helplessly screaming for no reason whatsoever, Kieran jumped out of his bed and landed right in front of Dr Kozak, hyperventilating, and not realising he was even there.
Dr Kozak tapped him, put on a very cheeky grin before whispering the words:
"Hello, Kieran."
Kieran screamed again once he turned around and made it back to his bed with the wasp again.
Unfortunately he sort of freaked out too much so instead of sleeping, he landed with his face smashed on the wall and his final position was him being upside down and unconcious from his bed.
Dr Kozak came closer to him, and smiled even more.
"That was your alarm. Good morning."
Kieran had completely forgotten that Dr Kozak was even there.
He screamed like a little girl again.
"Dr Kozak? That was probably one of the worst ways to wake me up!"
Dr Kozak in the meantime, couldn't help but burst out laughing as he dropped his air horn on the floor.
"Yeah. But you've got to admit. That was probably the funniest. Plus, that wasp was fake. Buzzing sound were sound effects, and the wasp itself was made of polystyrene. And my son used string to move it."
Dr Kozak tapped at the wasp, the wasp not doing anything.
Kieran didn't reply.
In all honesty, he should have seen it coming.
Harper, wake up and hear the buzz meant Kieran, wake up to see and hear a fake polystyrene wasp flying at your face!
Obviously.
Plus the wasp wasn't even three dimensional.
Dr Kozak helped Kieran up after a while, Kieran still annoyed at him, Dr Kozak still smiling.
"Why would you wake me up like that at four o'clock in the morning?"
"It's seven, Kieran," Dr Kozak corrected him, intently looking at Kieran and tapping his watch. "And the test of justice starts at seven thirty. Hope you've revised Kieran."
"What! That's not enough time. And no, not really."
Dr Kozak didn't say anything, and looked up at Kieran when he realised that Kieran still had more to say.
"I'm really scared, though. I'm scared that the test of justice is going to be really difficult."
"It's not," Kozak lied helplessly. "I wrote the test. I know what's in it."
Kieran's eyes beamed at him, Dr Kozak noticing and rolling his eyes in disbelief.
"And no. That does not mean I'm going to tell you what's in it. It's your fault for not revising, Kieran."
Dr Kozak was about to head out for the door again until Kieran held him back in indignation.
"Wait! Dr Kozak!!"
"What..." He muttered, annoyed.
"I don't have time for breakfast."
Dr Kozak grimaced impishly at Kieran, telling him that he had come prepared.
"I had a feeling that you were going to say that. I've got snails in my bag if you want some. Stole it from your birth country France."
Dr Kozak winked at Kieran whilst Kieran pretended to throw up.
Then he laughed, which Kieran didn't know was pretend or not.
"Joking. I've got a chocolate bar," he threw that at Kieran, Kieran caught it,"waffles," he also threw that at Kieran, same thing happened, "and a croissant."
He threw that at Kieran, which Kieran didn't catch because he was still traumatised on the polystyrene wasp incident just a few minutes ago.
"Snack on that for the day."
And then well, Dr Kozak was off for approximately thirty minutes.
