"Oh." Kieran realised, cringing at his mistake.

"Exactly," Katherine answered, looking down at him, then down at the cucumbers she was forcefully cutting. "Just because I have a knife doesn't mean that I'm going to do anything bad with it, Kieran."

Kieran rolled his eyes in disbelief, although couldn't help but think: I find that hard to believe.

Like. Really hard to believe.

When finishing with the cucumbers, Kieran felt like it would have been a good idea to bring up the subject on why Katherine thought it would be a good idea to murder Kieran's brother and his sister.

"I'm still kind of ticked off though," Kieran remembered. "On why you'd even think of killing my two remaining living siblings?"

"Oh," Katherine trailed off, putting the cucumbers away and turning to look at Kieran face to face. "They were annoying me."

Kieran reached out his hand to get an apple before standing up and walking angrily to his room.

"So? You annoy me." He said to her, about halfway up the stairs. "It doesn't mean that I suddenly have to kill you, does it?"

Katherine didn't reply, just threw all of the cucumbers on the floor when she realised that there were two dead bees in them.

Somehow.

"You have a point." Was all she replied. She was too busy going to the bin, her second home, to notice anything Kieran was doing or saying.

Don't I always, Kieran thought, smiling to himself.

"Plus, you're next on my hit list," she continued.

About to go up the stairs, Kieran stopped to look at her blankly, then raising an eyebrow at Katherine, he turned to look at her again.

"What do you mean...."

"You're the next person I have to kill." She brought out a gun from goodness knew where and pointed it at a rather frightened looking Kieran.

Kieran screamed again and was about to run away, but skidded to a halt when they both heard a key sound and Katherine put the gun away.

His father was home, at long last. Kieran had to tell him that Katherine's insanity levels were way beyond extreme.

Looking half tired, Kieran's stepfather came into the scene, where Katherine came up to him in a hug and kissed him lightly on the cheek.

"Hey, loves. How are you? How was work?" She asked, perfectly normally.

The flip! Kieran wanted to yell out loud.

Katherine shot a very deceitful grin at Kieran.

"Work was horrible, thanks for asking. I got fired for over shouting at my boss." Before anyone could say anything, Kieran's father continued. "Where's Cameron and Jessica? They'd usually be here right now."

"Oh. Cameron and Jessica? They went to the park." Katherine lied, still half grinning a grin of death at Kieran.

Kieran must have sounded pretty loud because what he had said next made the whole house vibrate.

"No! That's not true, dad. They never went to the park. Katherine killllllll-"

Katherine shot him an I'm going to kill you if you don't shut up look whilst Kieran was still elongating the word kill.

"Lllllssseed them. She kissed them."

Kieran's stepfather and Katherine looked back at Kieran blankly.

"She kissed them... To the park. To wish them good luck... On coming back home..."

What Kieran was saying was barely making any sense, so as a result of that, his father literally had to ask Katherine on whether Kieran was speaking gibberish or not.

"Is he feeling okay?" Kieran's stepfather whispered to her.

"I have absolutely no idea what he's talking about," Katherine lied, both of them still looking at Kieran, before Kieran's father cleared his throat.

"I'm still a bit ticked off though," he announced. "Cameron and Jessica are too young to go to the park. You could have supervised them at least. Who knows. They may never come back."

Boy. We've taken a trip down that road a long time ago, Kieran thought. It also sounded like they were going to have an argument. Kieran couldn't help but smile.

"Eh. Beats me. Oh. And by the way, I made dinner. Tomato soup."

She brought it out of the microwave to give it to Anthony but Kieran dived right in from of him, knocking the soup over and making everything land on the floor.

"Dad! You seriously can't accept it! Who knows. It might not have been made of tomatoes. It could have been made of real, human blood."

"I swear to god, Kieran!" His stepfather hollered, knocking Kieran out of the way.

"It was made of perfectly normal tomatoes, Kieran," Katherine corrected him, still helplessly although dementedly grinning at him.

"Yeah, 'Perfectly normal'," Kieran whispered sarcastically, getting up. "The opposite of you."

Katherine did something crazy next- she got out a knife. Kieran tried to warn his father to look backwards at her so he did. And he was annoyed.

"Dad! She's got a knife! She has got a knife! Who knows? She could have beheaded someone!"

"I was just returning it!" Katherine whined, still looking at Kieran evilly.

"Okay! Kieran! That's it. One more ridiculous statement from you and you're grounded mister. Grounded until July."

"I know! He's so crazy. Isn't he?" Katherine agreed, placing her hand on Anthony's shoulder and looking down at Kieran angrily.

She gave him a what seemed like it, poisonous kiss.

"I'm going to go and sweep the sitting room, and then use the bathroom. Keep an eye on Kieran. He's crazy."

You've got to be kidding me, Kieran thought to himself, watching his murderous mother leave. You've seriously got to be kidding me right now.

Then Katherine left to leave Kieran's stepfather looking at him in annoyance.

Kieran slammed the door of the sitting room, before turning to his dad, who opened it again.

He took him to hide under a table, whispering everything.

"Dad. Dad. You've got to believe me. Katherine is crazy with a capital K."

"C," Anthony corrected him, looking back at him resentfully. "Is this why we're under a table?"

"Dad. She's a serial killer. Honestly. She's out to get me, father. You're my only hope."

He couldn't help but laugh.

"What's so funny?" Kieran echoed, a bit too loudly for his stepfather's liking.

"I don't know. I just find this funny." He couldn't help but laugh, like mentioned earlier, and Kieran was almost tempted to laugh along with him as well, until his stepfather frowned.

"And not true."

"What? Dad! Believe me, she killed Cameron and Jessica! I'm not lying!"

"Still not convinced, Kieran." His stepfather looked away.

"Dad! I'm not lying. I never lie!"

Silence.
Then...

"You're lying right now." His stepfather told him, and after he said that. Kieran shot him a really dirty look.

"Moving on...." His stepfather said, looking away. "Plus how do I know you're telling me the truth, Kieran?"

"See. I came prepared in case you wouldn't believe me about this," Kieran began, showing his father his phone. "I have pictures in case you wouldn't believe me."

Swiping through the pictures on Kieran's phone, Kieran's stepfather looked at them; he was focused, very very focused actually, but what Kieran didn't get was, he still wasn't convinced.

"And how do I know that it's not jam, or ketchup? It doesn't look like blood."

"Dad. Believe me when I say this." Kieran looked into his father's eyes. "Katherine. Is. Not. Normal."

"And how do I know that you're not the one that's not normal?" He questioned, looking at Kieran back quizzically. "I'm sorry Kieran, but I honestly don't see anything that's wrong with her."

You've got to be kidding me! Kieran felt like yelling out loud.

Seriously? Was he the only normal and sane person around here?
Because it really seemed like it!

"Well, I'm sorry, but I honestly don't see anything that's not wrong with her," Kieran argued. "I mean, look at her, dad."

And after Kieran had said that, that was when him and his stepfather knelt up to see Katherine who was viciously hoovering the sitting room, dementedly singing in the process as she did so as well.

What Katherine was wearing even made her look a bit of a serial killer. She was wearing a red and black silk cobweb dress, dyed her hair red, changed her eye colour to red and was wearing black slippers that read 'death is inevitable' on it.

And here Kieran's stepfather was saying that there was "nothing" wrong with Katherine?

Please.

Even a two year old knew better than that...

"Aw, that's really nice and kinda cute. She's singing," his stepfather realised as they headed back under the table again.

"Dad. Dad, can you not hear what she's singing?" Kieran muttered to him.

"Yes. She's singing 'it's windy. Though sunny. And bright'."

Kieran cleared his throat with force.

"No. Dad. She's singing 'I'm going to kill someone tonight.' She's a murderer, dad."

The whole made up song? Here.

It's windy though sunny and bright.
I'm going to kill someone tonight!
It smells of straw-ber-rries and vanilla....

Katherine, you're a serial killer.

The last bit was added by Kieran in his head, as he heard the song, though his father didn't.

He turned to face his father again, who seemed even more love struck and hypnotised than before.

"Yes. And even if she is. She's a cute murderer."

Kieran didn't reply, just rolled his eyes casually in frustration.

"Oh yeah."

Kieran stared at him blankly.

"Except that she's not a murderer. I'm out of here, Kieran."

And with saying that, his stepfather left under the table to go and meet Katherine, giving him a poisonous kiss.

Kieran sighed. He stayed where he was, before grabbing a pen and paper, quickly scribbling something down on a piece of paper, not caring about his neat handwriting, for once in his life.

My father's too love struck, he wrote. I keep trying to warn him about Katherine's insane personality, but he wouldn't believe me. Just because I'm still fifteen and young doesn't mean that I can't have a freedom of speech, you know!

He wrote a few things down again, until the lined paper was completely filled up with his handwriting, then Kieran read what he wrote in his head twice.

He had to get his father to break up with Katherine.

He just had to, whether his father wanted that or not.

He just had to.

But there was only one problem.

How?
