Just Be There
Way back when, when I was young
There were people who'd just be there
There were guards on trains
There were keepers in parks
And bobbies on the beat.
Their job back then was
To make us feel safe
You were never alone
in a public space
There was always someone there.
But the money men
Took them all away
They call it efficiency
You'll be scared and alone
In a public space
But think what we save on the cost.
