Chapter One - Taylor Summers
"Sara you cannot be serious. No way can you wear that! It's all about the impact girl and that dress ain't gonna make one."
Let me introduce you to Jackson aka my best friend since birth. Since our birthdays were close to one another's, our mums were on the same ward at the hospital when little us first graced the world with our presence, and somehow they'd managed to keep in contact until Jackson and I were old enough to do so ourselves. And indeed I am thankful for my mum's unusual effort to maintain her friendship with my best friend's mum because well, otherwise I wouldn't have my best friend.
After a few more moments of tutting at my suggestion of an outfit - and various mumbles of insults associated with my non-existent fashion sense - my phone is swept away into Jackson's firm grasp and despite my obvious protests he clicks off the page I was on and onto the website of a much trendier brand. For you see not only is Jackson Hills my very best friend; he is the number one fashion advisor of Evergreen Academy. Worshipped by the majority of the girls in both junior and senior year, Jax (my nickname for him in case you hadn't realised) was seen as a guru sent from God as far as the latest information on styles was concerned, and what he says is almost guaranteed to go.
Unlike Jax, I was not one who loved being shoved into the limelight and that was just as well since I wasn't seen as anywhere near as important as my popular counterpart. Don't get me wrong - I'm not one of those nerds you see in every stereotypical American film including a High School (you know, the ones who have the goofy glasses and sit at the front of every class raising there hand up and down more times than a yoyo). I'm just little Sara Davidson, the quiet girl of average intelligence who never dares contribute to class for fear of being teased for the rest of my existence if my suggestions or answers weren't deemed as good enough for my judgemental peers. I tend to blend in with the crowd and that's okay; I wouldn't want it any other way.
Eventually I give up on my quest to retrieve my phone and Jackson and I calmly walk to the place where the rest of our social group congregate every lunch time. The cafeteria at school is always wildly overcrowded and so instead of battling our way through the throngs of sweaty teenagers, the rest of my friends and I sit outside near the sports field. There are various other friendship groups dotted around, but it's still quiet enough to get a break from the busy halls inside the buildings.
"Sara what about this one?"
I turn once more to look at Jax and swiftly dismiss his suggestion of a rather revealing dress that appears as if it would only look remotely decent on those skinny ass models that fill New York's fashion magazines. A body comes swooping in beside me, and with a rather loud thud my other best friend Jenna plonks down into the grass, chucking her bag into the centre of the circle that is beginning to form as more of us are steadily let out for break.
"You will never believe who's back," she gushes, drool almost visible on her chin. By her excitement I'm guessing that either the hot supply teacher we had last year had once more returned to teach Jenna's English class or she'd caught sight of some random guy who she saw as "perfect" for the fifth time this week.
Instead of answering, both Jax and I simply raise eyebrows at Jenna's flustered state, and this seems to serve as enough encouragement for her to continue.
"The god that is.....Taylor Summers!" Jenna shrieks, managing to turn the heads of more than a couple of passers by. Her cheeks quickly turn to a colour similar only to tomatoes, and I can't help but laugh at my friend's embarrassed state.
"Taylor Summers? Who...ohhhh..." The realisation of who Jenna was actually on about soon hit Jax whereas I remained just as puzzled as to why this was such big news.
Apparently my confusion was evident on my face as both Jenna and Jax turned to me with expressions of horror.
"Don't you remember Sara?" the two of ask in unison.
Taylor Summers...why do I know that name?
Then it hits me.
Taylor Summers was the guy I lost my virginity to.
