Just Like We Are

Now everyday, ever since she met him, Sakura found herself stopping at his shop every morning for the same cup of coffee. He would get her order and get another one before sitting down at their usual table.

Along the way, they had exchanged numbers and emails after Kioshi had asked. Sakura felt light and happy, it was as if Soryu and her had never been together.

Her phone rang, "Hello?" she greeted as she picked up. "Hey, Sakura! Listen, my friend from my old college called for a party tonight. I was wondering if you wanted to come, he said I could bring a plus one." Sakura could hear the boy's excited grin in his voice.

"I have nothing to do tonight... Sure! What time do I meet you at your place?"

"I'll come pick you up. His house is the same direction." Kioshi says. "Can you be ready by 7:30?"

"Definitely. See you then... Oh wait, what kind of clothes do I wear?" she muttered quietly.

"Something casual if you like, it's just a get together." Kioshi replies, shuffling heard from his side.

"Okay, thanks, Kio," Sakura smiles, "See you tonight." She hangs up after saying goodbye to her friend and a knock sounds on her door.

"Come on in, Beatrice." Sakura calls as she clicks her phone locked. The slim brunette walks in with a small smile, sitting on the edge of the hacker's bed.

"So, you have a date tonight?" Beatrice teases, grinning at the hacker. "Who is he? Is he the one who got you this?" The woman takes the bear on Sakura's bed, holding it up.

"First of all," Sakura laughs, taking the bear back. "His name is Kioshi. And second, it's not a date, I'm going with him to party!"

"That's what they say first, girl." Beatrice chuckles, "Just watch, my best bet is you get together with him."

"Whatever. Now, out! I have to choose an outfit for tonight!" "It's only 4:00!" "So?"

Sakura, after thirty minutes, finally settled on a dress she had bought the day she went shopping with Kioshi. It was a simple dress, a cute casual dress with a black skirt along with a cream colored top, tied together with a simple black ribbon belt. After a shower and making a quick hairstyle with waves, Sakura changed into the dress and painted a light coat of makeup on her face. Along with the outfit, she wore a black charm necklace, black stud earrings and two beaded bracelets.

Spraying a small amount of sweet smelling perfume, Sakura pulled on a pair of cream ballet flats. Exhaling a pent up breath, Sakura stepped out the room, feeling a bit uncomfortable in a dress, especially since she hasn't wore one in some times.

Patting down her skirt, she walked downstairs where Beatrice was changed in a salmon pink skirt, pulling a denim jacket over her white tank top. "Ready to go already, huh? It's only 7:15." The girl laughs.

"Hey, don't start that with me. Your date with Luke is supposed to be at 7:45." Sakura sticks her tongue out as she sits on the sofa. "Fair enough."

Waiting a few more minutes, Kioshi soon arrives, knocking on the door. Sakura rushes to open it. "Hey, Kio!" she hugs the boy, who staggers a bit at the unexpected tackle. "Hey. You ready to go?" he asks, lifting his car keys in the air to gesture.

"Yeah. I'll catch you later, Bea," Sakura waved to the girl. "Have a good time with Luke~" "Yah!" Sakura winked at her friend and closed the door, hearing the embarrassed yelp of her friend.

"Such a tease." Kioshi shakes his head, laughing slightly as they walked to his car. "I know. But I had to." Sakura grins, "Thanks." she says after, climbing into the car after Kioshi had opened the door and escorted her in.

The brown haired boy gets into the driver's side. "You look really cute tonight by the way." He blushes as he compliments his friend.

"Huh...? A-Arigato..." she mutters, embarrassed as she looked down. "You look nice tonight, too..."

"Whoa... This place is awesome, what's the friend's name, anyway?" "Rihito Hatsune. Apparently, he studied in Japan. I met him when his girlfriend broke up with him and he needed a drink."

"Rihito Hatsune? That sounds familiar... It's Japanese, too..." Sakura pondered for a bit. "Maybe I just thought of someone else." she shrugged.

"Well, I might as well introduce you, though." Kioshi nods, wrapping an arm around her shoulder. Being friends for about a month now, the two had grown very accustomed to each other, and little things like this with Kioshi didn't bother Sakura as much.

He leads her outside where a pool was, a boy standing and looking at his reflection in the water. He was handsome, but familiar. Then it struck Sakura.

"R-Rihito...?" the name left her mouth, making the boy turn around and widen his eyes when he saw the ever familiar face of his childhood best friend. The boy hadn't changed much from what Sakura could remember.

His light blonde hair was almost the same, his light toffee eyes still sparkling with happiness just as she remembered. "Sakura?" He took a step forward, almost unsure about his actions.

"Oh my god!" She squeals, jumping up to hug her old time friend. They hadn't been in contact for some time and it was surprising they still remembered each other. "How've you been?!"

"Same Sakura, never keeping up with outside world celebs." Rihito chuckled, placing her back down after spinning her for a bit. "I'm a professional piano player now. Ichy's a famous baker and Haru became a lawyer. Takeshi became a professional trainer for runners and Ryu became a... teacher."

"A teacher?! Our Ryu?! As in the one who was flunking the math and science tests all the time...?" Sakura was shocked.

"Yup, that's the one. But the boys still haven't forgotten you, they're here right now actually." Rihito laughs, waving to Kioshi, who was smiling at the friends.

"Wow! I want to see them again! Where are they?!" Sakura asked excitedly, grabbing Rihito and Kioshi's hands. "Calm down, Sakura... I never expected you to be so hyper this early in a party." The blonde laughed, walking her and Kioshi inside.

"Just get them!" "Fine!"

Kioshi watched the two with a smile on his face, but as he stuffed his hand in his pocket, he clutched the small box inside, a sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach slightly weighing him down.

'They're just friends... Just like we are.'
