~Previously on 'Second Place' in Chapter 24~

On Y/n's way to school she trips and falls into a puddle ruining her hair. She fixes it up and apparently the class gets a new student named Itona who is apparently Koro Sensei's Brother?? During lunch Nagisa share's a his sweets with Y/n, and asks is she's okay bc she's been sneezing and acting sick all day. After an epic battle between Itona and Koro Sensei on top of the whole class training with Mr. Karasuma after school it starts raining again. Y/n has a bad headache and Nagisa offers to walk to the train station together. The reminisces about how they first met, and Nagisa give's Y/n a key chain. On the train, Y/n falls asleep with her head on Nagisa's shoulder. He decides that he won't confront Y/n about her crush on him and he'll just wait and see what will happen.

"Hey are you okay? Why are you crying?"

I gasped as I woke up from my sleep. A cold rag fell off my forehead and onto my lap. I looked around and quickly realized...THIS WASN'T MY HOUSE! I wiped my head around trying to take in my surroundings. Who's house was this, and why was it so familiar and why was I sleeping on the couch?! Did Nagisa get off his stop and some random creepy old man kidnap me while I was knocked out?!? I started to imagine all the horrible things that could happen to me when all of a sudden,

    "Oh hey Y/n! You're awake!" I heard none other than Nagisa say, "Did your fever go down?"

My head quickly snapped over to him in the kitchen. I quickly clutched the blanket close to me in fear,

    "N-Nagisa?!? You're the creepy old man that kidnapped me?!?!" I exclaimed in fright.

    "What?? Creepy old man? Kidnapping? What are you talking about?" He asked me.

I looked down trying to process everything, and that's when my eyes widened,

    "Where the hell are my clothes?!?!" I shouted.

    "W-wait I can explain!" Nagisa waved his hands blushing, "It's not what you think!!!"

'What the HELL is going on??' I thought.

    "Last night...at the Train Station...you were knocked out cold. I was going to bring you home, but I didn't know where you lived, so I carried  you over to my house. My mom happened to be home and she was the one who took care of you and changed your clothes and stuff..." Nagisa explained to me.

My eyes widened in realization,

    "Ohhhh!" I realized, "That makes sense!! Sorry for accusing you of kidnapping me!" I laughed a bit.

    "Yea... it's okay, next time I'll just ask Karma where you live."

My face heated up,

    "Please don't do that!" I told him.

I bowed my head a bit,

    "I appreciate you taking care of me while I was unconscious and sick! In case there's a next time, I'll give you my address!" I announced, pointing at him.

    "R-really?" He asked

    "Mhm!" I nodded.

We both looked at eachother. Nagisa's face was slightly tinted with...red? That's when I came to the realization of what I had just said to him and my face heated up. We both looked away, 'I can't belive I just said that to him!!! That's like me asking home over or something!!' I shouted. I looked at the floor,

    "Uhhh...so where is my school uniform?" I asked timidly.

    "In the dryer..." Nagisa said pointing to where it was.

I nodded, 'How embaressing can I fucking be?!? Y/n get a grip for fucks sake!!'

    "Mhm! A class versus class ball game tournament, is it?" Koro Sensei asked the class, "Cultivating healthy minds and bodies through sports-- most excellent!"

I sighed as I stared off into space. It's been a week since my little incident with Nagisa, and now things are so freaking awkward!! I just wish things between us could go back to normal! He should have just left me on that damn train to fend for myself!!

    "Why is E class not in the tournament brackets?" Koro Sensei asked, snapping me out of my thoughts.

I was about to answer him, but Mimura beat me too it,

    "E class doesn't get entered into the tournament. Due to the splendid reason that there'd be an odd number of teams. Instead, we have to play in the exhibition game at the end." He said.

    "The exhibition game?" Koro Sensei repeated.

I nodded,

    "It's  totally lame by the way!" I announced.

    "Y/n's right. Basically, it's just a spectacle. As the entire school looks on, we get pit against the baseball club and the girls the girls basketball club."

    "I see, so it's the same oldsame old." Koro Sensei said.

    "Yep." Kataoka confirmed.

I heard the door slide open so I looked over and it was Terasaka and his two friends. Terasaka was all like,

    "We aren't sticking around to be laughing stocks."

I looked at him anumaused,

    "Well no need to worry about that, you already are..." I commented.

He ignored me,

    "You guys handle it however you want..." He continued.

    "Didn't you hear me? You're already in E-class I don't know why you think not participating will make you any more likeable in the eyes of the main campus..if anything it makes you seem like cowards..." I spoke up once more.

    "Will you shut up!" He snapped.

    "Hey! Don't get mad at me because I'm right!  I'm just telling you the facts of your situation!" I tried to tell him.

Terasaka did not care what I had to say, and he left with his friends,

    "Hey, wait! Terasaka!" Isogi in the front of the class, called out to him.

Too late though, they were gone. I huffed,

    "What's with dumbasses and skipping class?" I muttered.   

    "What'd you say Y/n? Something you'd like to share with me?" Karma asked menacingly, startling the crap out of me.

I jumped a bit in surprise, before I stared waving my hands frantically,

    "Huh?! What?! I didn't say nothing!!" I defended, "I actually think people who skip class are the smartest people in the world!!" I told him.

    "Hmm...That's what I thought...Be careful what you shay n/n-chan that mouth of yours is going to get you beat up one of these days." He told me

I rolled my eyes at him and crossed my arms,

    "Yea right-"

    "If it's baseball, the go to guy'd be Sugino." I heard Hiroto say, "Got any secrets we can use to win?"

The whole class looked at him,

    "It's impossible...Our Baseball club is pretty strong" I heard him tell everyone.

If I were drinking something I would have spit it out, I quickly stood up causing everyone's attention to go onto me, including Nagisa's...I pointed at Sugino,

    "Hey man! What the hell! I thought you were a fellow sports player??!? Since when is that spirit!! You've played with these guys for how long, and you haven't learned a single thing about either of your own teammates?!? Now that's just uncool! You're supposed to be the trump card since you played with them!!"

    "Did you play on the boy's baseball team too?" Someone asked me.

    "I- Well yes, but I can't really play with you guys that would be unfair to the other team soooo-"

    "Then you of all people should know what I'm talking about." Sugino told me, "Shindo's the current club captain His powerful fastball has even gotten the attention of the prestigious highschools. He's a star pupil and a star athlete. It's like, unfair-"

I waved my hand to dismiss him,

    "Prestigious simgous blah blah blah. All I'm hearing is excuses for you not to try. There's no reason for you  to count yourself out yet! You've probably forgotten, but  I've played catcher for both you and Mr. Team Captain before, so believe me when I say this,  you're fastballs...Really hurt my freaking hands!! Which is why I like playing third or first base!!!- Ahem...anyways, they're probably gonna cheat at some point because with your leadership the boys E class team will be awesome, so when they cheat, just cheat back." I said sitting back in my seat.

    "You know..." Sugino began, "I want to win...Not just put up a good fight. Win. I don't want to lose at baseball, which I love. After getting kicked out of the baseball club and coming to E class, my feelings have actually only grown stronger. I want to team up with the guys and win--"

    "So excited so excited!" Koro Sensei announced wearing a full baseball uniform.

    "R-right. You want to play baseball, too. I hear you loud and clear." Sugino commented.

I started balling my eyes out,

    "That's the spirit Koro Sensei and Sugino!" I cried.

    "Oh , and that reminds me, Y/n you'll be the team captain for the E class girls basketball team"

While crying I gave Koro Sensei a thumbs up,

    "Y-you got it dude! I'll make sure the girls win, don't you worry!"

Koro Sensei laughed,

    "I've always wanted to be the fiery coach in a sports drama."

'Holy cow I feel so pumped up now!' I thought.

    "Alright! And that's one win for E class!" I exclaimed twirling in the air as we left the gym, "I knew we could do it!"

    "I can't believe you're saying 'we' You're the one who was making most of the points..."

    "Yea so! It's not like I could have done it without you guys! This was a team effort and a team victory!" I exclaimed bouncing the ball

I raced to the front of the group and announced,

    "That was so fun! I haven't played a sports game in so long! And getting to exploit my former teammates weakness was so awesome!"

    "I feel like I was the one who kinda dragged us down...sorry..." Kayano pouted.

    "What? Are you kidding!! Did you forget, when I was all guarded and you were wide open and I was like I was all like 'Kayano here!' And you were all like jump! shoot! swish! score! That point got us in the lead! And don't get me started on how Rio made the girl trip and fall, but she didn't get a penalty shot because she cheated before! And when that other girl got a foul shot and Fuwa made caught her rebound! Like holy hell! I think everyone of you guys should replace that girls basketball team!" I praised.

Kataoka smiled,

    "Well we couldn't have done wit without you Team Captain..."

I felt my face heat up,

    "Team captain?! Don't call me that!! No it was all you guys! Each and everyone of us pulled ouf own weight today in such a short amount of time, and we won! This was totally a group effort! We beat those girls 32 to 30!! Fair and square! Now let's go watch the boys!!"

The girls all agreed.

    "Strike!" The Ump called out.

    "Good job Sugino! I hate that pitch so much so I know that that guy is fuming! Awesome catch Nagisa!" I exclaimed along with the other girls, "You guys are doing awesome!"

'Holy hell Nagisa looks so hot as Catcher! And to imagine we wore the same gear!!! That's so hot!!!' I beamed,

    "You're doing awesome Nagisa!" I called out, before I could even stop myself.

"Don't let them get a hit, Sugino." Suguya Called out from first base, "Im' not sure any of us can catch the ball even if it comes our way."

Sugino laughed and I cheered in agreement as well,

    "I believe in you! Sugino! Strike him out! He can't hit curve balls to save his life-"

    "Shut up Y/n!" The stupid batter yelled at me.

    "No you shut up Tatsuza! During practice you always made me throw straight on to you!" I yelled back.

And just like that he, along with two other batters were struck out, meaning it was E class' turn to bat. The announcer lady over the intercom announced,

    "Batter number eight, left fielder, Akabane."

I cleared my throat,

    "Okay Karma! Make me proud!" I exclaimed.

Unfortunately, he would not get to, because all the infielders and outfielders  were super upfront.

    "Hey!" Karma announced, "Isn't this playing dirty, Mr. Principal? They're taking up defensive positions that clutter up the field and the teacher acting as umpire hasn't giving any warnings. Don't you guys think it's weird too? Oh I get it. You guys are morons." He told the crowd.

    "What did I tell you about them cheating!!" I called out.

    "Maybe they just don't understand defensive positions and stuff, don't you think Y/n?

I backed up Karma by was speaking up again,

    "Of course they don't! For a bunch on non E-classers they sure are slow!" I egged on.

This sent the crowd into a an angry fit and they all yelled at Karma saying,

    "Quit Whining about the little things, E-class! It's an exhibition game! Quit trying to dispute the defense!"

I shuddered, 'So scary...' I thought. I didn't really see the point in all that but I shrugged it off as I watched the game.

After an inning of our teams getting scraped it was time for the E boys to be on the offensive once more. The first person up to bat bunted the ball, which wasn't so good seeing as the infielders on our team had no clue what to do. Instead of guarding first base the first basement went to get the ball instead of Nagisa , who was the catcher...It was annoying, but not much I could really do about. Man what I would do to trade places with one of these guys. Bunt after bunt, the way things were going, I was getting pissed off,

    "Stop running away from your spot! The person who should be receiving the bunts is that Catcher or Pitcher, unless the  ball is closer to you!" I shouted startling the players.

I sighed out, man did it fell good to say that. When it was Team Cap, Shindo's turn to to bat I almost pissed my pants. Why the hell did he look so fucking scary holy fucking shit!! When the game started I almost passed out. Karma and Isogi where literally right up on the batter! And I mean that like, if he swung he'd knock their lights out.

    "We're clearly defending in positions that would disrupt that batter's focus, but you guys did it earlier, the umpire can't say anything..." Karma said,

'So cool!' I exclaimed. Even the principal allowed it. And just like that the tide of the game was turned. Sugino threw the ball and Shindo swung, Isogi and Karma moved out the way just in time, but Shindo got a strike. I beamed even more,

    "You're doing awesome you guys! Keep it up!"

It was very obvious that Shindo was scared shitless. He literally smacked that ball to the ground which Karma threw to Nagisa to tag home, in which her threw to third base, getting that runner out. I was so proud I almost cried,

    "Great play!" I yelled as they got a third runner out, "That was so freaking awesome!!!" I exclaimed.

I cheered as my classmates came off the field, and gave each of them double half fives, and told them they did a great job, but when the last person came up to me, I almost froze,

    "Great J-"

Nagisa looked at me confused and I stopped mid sentence. My face was heating up to it's max. I didn't want to make another one of our interactions awkward again, so I blinked and smiled at him,

    "One second!" I said spinning around on me heels.

'Listen here you dumbass brain! You're not going to ruin this for me!! Turn back around and tell Nagisa he did a good job!' I told myself. I nodded took a deep breath and spun back around and I put my hands back up,

    "Good job Nagisa! That was an awesome play you pulled there! And you knew to throw it to third without me having to shout at you! That's really awesome! You're definitely an MVP now!" I told him.

He smiled at me and gave me the double half five,

    "Thanks!" he said.

I nodded firmly and put my hands down. We started walking towards the class,

    "Hey I didn't know you played baseball Y/n..."

My face heated up,

    "Me? Baseball? I mean-- I played every sport, so it's hard to keep track!" I defended

'Ugh How could I forgot that?! Everytime I tried to ask Nagisa to come to my baseball games and I totally just chicken out mid sentence!! How lame can I get!!!' I exclaimed in my head,

"L-let's talk about  you! I really thought you were an awesome catcher! Did you know I used to play catcher too?" I said changing the subject.

    "Really?" He asked.

    "Yea! Totally! But I hated it soooo much Because every freaking guy would throw the ball super hard and it hurt my hand!! I bet you know what I'm talking about! Sugino's pitches are such a bitch! I always have to ice my hand after!!" I tell him.

Nagisa chuckled,

    "I know what you mean. Did you only play catcher?" He asked.

    "Huh? No. I only played catcher for their practices! During the games I was either 1st base or third and depending on the team we were playing against I was an outfielder in charge of catching all the pop ups..."

"How come you were put on the boys baseball team instead of the girls?" He aksed.

"Oh! About that! I played softball for the girls team at first, but I was so much better than all the girls I played with/ against, so I got transferred onto the boys team part time so I could improve their stats!"

    "Wow it sounds like you're really good at baseball. Is that your favorite sport?"

    "Yea! That, and (another sport)! Oh my gosh I love (another sport)!" I exclaimed before I started rambling on and on.

I can't believe it!! Me and Nagisa are talking like normal again and both our teams won the exhibition games!! How more awesome can things get?!? Next thing I know we could be getting married or something!!

I'd just like to say, I've very satisfied with this Chapter....
