~Previously on 'Second Place' in Chapter 23~

Well after a pretty eventful day of watching Professor Bitch try and kill Mr. Karasuma for a bet, Y/n is ready to walk home for the day. Before she goes home she realizes Karma and Nagisa want to ask Koro Sensei if they could see a movie with him. So before she leaves them she asks them to tell her how the movie was. Later that night Y/n get's an unexpected call from Nagisa, and he tells her all about the movie and he tells her he got her a gift. Y/n tried to confess, buuut chickened out pretty much...She promises herself she'll confess to him the next day. 

||Y/n's P.o.v||

I quickly ran to the school up the stairs,  I ran so fast that I tripped on the top step and fell into a puddle. I got up and sprinted the whole way to class with my umbrella. I almost forgot to take off my outdoor shoes when I got in the building. I ran all the way to my classroom door, and slammed it open. Everyone looked at me,

"Sorry for being late..." I tell Koro Sensei.

"Oh...it's just Y/n..." One student said.

I eyed the class confused,

"What does that even mean-" I got cut off

"Hey, what the heck was the point of you having an umbrella if you weren't even going to use it?!?!" Hiroto shouted at me.

I recoiled on the verge of tears,

"I slipped in fell in the rain!" I exclaimed about to cry, "Umbrellas's don't protect you from puddles!" I huffed.

"So when is the new student coming?" Hara asked.

I looked at back at Koro Sensei before closing my umbrella and walking over to my seat,

"New student?" I wondered, "I thought I heard something about that, before I came in. Did I miss another email?" I asked as I sat in my seat.

"Nope, this was last minute." Koro Sensei told me

"Oh okay." I replied.

"Hey Ritsu, have you heard anything?" Hara asked her, "You know, as a fellow transfer assassin?"

"Yes, a little. Originally he and I were to be introduced together. I would handle long range attacks, and he close range combat. Together we'd drive Koro Sensei into a corner. But those orders were canceled for two reasons."

"Huh? What were they?"

I nodded as I raked my hands through my wet hair,

"Yea tell us, I wanna hear the rest." I commented.

"Well, for one, his adjustment took longer than expected. And two...I lack the capacity to provide him support. As an assassin, I am overwhelmingly inferior to him."

I got chills as I was fixing my hair,

"That's scary...It saying something if a super computer ai is saying something like that about some kid assassin" I commented to myself.

Then I sneezed, 'Damn I hope I didn't catch a cold...' I sniffed.

"Now to introduce him: Hey Itona!" The new kid's guardian called out "Come on out!"

The whole class, including myself looked at the door in anticipation. That's when suddenly there was an explosion that came from the back wall. I literally shrieked in fear and surprise. But who wouldn't? Someone just exploded the fucking wall!!! Right by me none the less!!! That's when out came Itona, from the hole. I assumed he made the hole in the wall, and he just walked in and sat down like everything was fucking normal!!! I stared at him in disbelief as he was now seated in between Terasaka and Karma.

"I won..." He said in his seat.

That's when I noticed it, he was completely fucking dry during a rainstorm with no umbrella. Hell I had one and I got soaking wet! Karma eyed me,

"Oh so you finally caught on...I'm surprised, it took you a while this time."

I sneezed making sure to cover my nose and then I huffed at him,

"Shut up I couldn't see!"I defended.

"I proved that I'm stronger than that classroom wall." Creepy Itona said.

I eyed him confused as I blew my nose into the rag I now suddenly had.

"Use the damn door!" Practically the whole class shouted.

I nodded,

"Yea dude, so not cool..." I added wiping my nose.

"That's all that matters...that's all." He said, hands folded on his desk.

I rolled my eyes and huffed a bit as I put my head in my hand,

"Not this again... When are we going to get a normal assassin student?" I asked aloud,

"Itona Horibe. Please call him Itona." Guy in white said.

"Say, Itona, somethings been bugging me and Y/n...You came in from outside, right? Empty handed? It's raining buckets out there, yet there's not a drop of rain on you. I mean- look at Y/n...She had and umbrella and still got wet..."

"Hey shut up! I told you I fell you dumb red head!" I protested.

The whole class looked at Itona, waiting for his response. That's when Itona stood up from his seat and looked at Karma and I,

"You might be the strongest one in the class..." He told Karma before turning his attention to me.

I jumped a bit when his gaze reached me,

"And you might be the smartest-"

(The class: The smartest?!?!)

"-but don't fret." He said putting his hands on our heads, "You're both weaker than me, so I won't kill you." He told us.

He started rubbing my head and Karma's, and I couldn't help but blush immensely. I slapped his hand away from me,

"Hey sir! You can't just go around touching young innocent girls!!" I shout.

He ignored me,

"I only want to kill those who could be stronger than me." Itona said walked up to Koro Sensei who was eating a chocolate bar, "That's you..."

He was pointing at Koro Sensei.

"Who's strong and who's weak? That's how you pick your fights, Itona?" Koro Sensei asked, "If it's a trial of strength you and I aren't even in the same dimension."

"Sure we are." Itons said rummaging for something in his pocket, "After all, we're brothers by blood." He told Koro Sensei, revealing that he had the same candy bar in his hand as Koro Sensei.

"Brothers?!?!" The whole class exclaimed in unison.

"The loser dies, big brother." Itona said holding out his chocolate bar, "Siblingas have no need for cheap tricks. I will kill you and prove my strength. We face off after school--here, in this classroom."

Itona then left the classroom with Guy in white. He closed the door behind him. The class was silent for a second before everyone erupted with noise. We all had tons of questions.

During lunch I huffed as I ate my lunch. I couldn't help but stare at Koro Sensei's-- wait no, it was Itona's lunch that I was staring at. I was so jealous that he had so many sweets for lunch, while I only had a sandwich and a riceball. I wondered if Itona would let me have some...Then my stomach growled, causing me to tear my eyes away and look back at my own food, I grimaced as I looked at my no sweets packed lunch. That's when someone stuck their hand into my lunch box leaving half an anpan. It was Nagisa,I beamed and blushed,

"T-thank you so much Nagisa!" I gushed.

He chuckled a bit, before turning his attention to Okajima behind him who was raving a boobs or something. Then Okajima spun around, holding up a risque magazine, saying,

"We boob men are all brothers!"

I looked at him in unamusement and rolled my eyes,

"Yea, you got that right...The one thing you all have in common is that you're all perverts." I commented biting into the anpan.

Then I sneezed into my arm,

"Godamn it..." I muttered.

I started blowing my nose when Nagisa turned back to me,

"Hey, are you okay? You've been sneezing all day. Did you catch a cold?" He asked.

"Huh, me?" I asked with the tissue still pressed against my nose, "I don't think I caught a cold...I think I have allergies are something..." I told him.

"It's not even the spring though..." He said wearily.

I waved my hands before I sneezed again,

"Yea, well whatever. Same thing..." I dismiss him.

"It's really not though...I think your sick..." He advised.

I went into a sneezing fit before I could respond back to him comment. He looked at me wearliy once more, 

"B-bless you..." He told me as I was still sneezing.

"Hey, if Itona and Koro Sensei really are brothers...then why wouldn't he know?" Kayano spoke up.

"Hmmm." Fuwa said putting her index finger to her face, "I bet it went like this..."

Then she proceeded to give a detailed description on how there was a war going on in a kingdom and royalty and fake death and blah blah blah...It didn't really make any sense, so I got kinda lost.

"Hey Y/n, what do you think?" Nagisa asked me suddenly.

"Huh, what do I think?" I repeated.

"Yea, you do have the best intuition at this table." Kayano added.

I shrugged my shoulders and felt heat creep onto my face,

"Nothing interesting..." I tell them, "They probably just share the same dna or something. You know? Like they were both made in the same lab or something..." I say.

"That's...not a bad prediction..." Kayano spoke up.

I bit my anpan blushing, "I don't know it's just a guess..." I tell her. Then Kayano and Fuwa got to talking, so I took a glance at Nagisa. He was looking back at Itona. They made brief eye contact, and then Itona's eyes glossed over to mine. I quickly looked down at my food bushing, 'stupid stupid STUPID! Why were even you looking at him!!! It's not like you have any interest in anyone other than Nagisa!!! But what if Nagisa likes- no no NO shut SHUT UP!!! Just Eat Your Lunch and Be a Good Side Character!!!!' I exclaimed in my head.

Once school was over, I decided to stay and watch the showdown along with the rest of the class. Even though my head was kind of hurting and I couldn't really breath out of my nose I still wanted to see the fight. The class and I set up the desks into a square arena in which Itona and Koro Sensei resided in. The rules of the match were simple, don't step foot out of the ring or you loose/die and don't hurt spectators or you loose. As the match was beginning, I found myself gripping onto Nagisa's armin in anticipation. I wasn't sure who I wanted to win...

Once the match began, however. Immediately, Itona had the upper hand. He instantly cut off one of Koro Sensei's arms. Not with just any weapon though, no, he had tentacles of his own...right on top of his head.

"Itona's hair...it's tentacles!" Nagisa pointed out,

I looked at him and started blushing, as I realized I was grabbing onto him. I quickly let go of him and distanced myself from him. He looked at me kind of confused,

"S-sorry!" I exclaimed.

I quickly composed myself and cleared my throat a bit,

"Anyways...yes, it appears my prediction was spot on..." I said cooly.

I could feel Nagia's eyes on me and it made me so nervous,

"Stop staring at me like that Nagisa!" I shouted on accident.

"S-sorry..." He said looking away from me.

I blushed more in embarrassment,

"N-no it's fine!" I exclaimed like a dumbass. 

||Nagisa's P.o.v||

 I think I finally understand why Itona called Y/n that smartest in the class...she may not be a wiz at math, or good with words, but alll of her Ideas and intuitions have been spot on...her unconventional way of thinking his far superior than anyone in this classes...it's like...her mind is engineered for assassination...

After Koro Sensei's victory against Itona and then extra training with Mr. Karasuma, Mother Nature decided to be a bitch and decided to make it rain again. It was kind of dark now, and the rain on top of it was just annoying. Luckily for me, my fever went down a bit, but my head was still hurting like a bitch. I was going to take a nice nap and not doing anything else for the rest of the day when I got home...I stood on the porch of the school as I opened my umbrella. I had just stepped into the rain when,

"Hey Y/n!" Nagisa said to him.

'Oh no...play it cool Y/n!' I turned back to Nagisa and smiled,

"Oh hey Nagisa." I say to him.

"Hey it's kind of late, wanna walk to the train station together?" He asked.

My face heated up immensly and I nodded,

"Mhm!"

"Awesome!" he said, "Also, I meant to tell you earlier, but I really like what you did with your hair, it's cute..."

My face heated up so much that I almost died. 'Nagisa called me cute!!! Quick say something back!!!'

"T-thanks!" I stuttered.

He smiled at me, and so yea, we started walking together. Nagisa kept trying to start conversations with me, but I kept on accidently not carrying the conversation on. It was so frustrating!!! I was too flustered to say anything to him, and I just wanted to round house kick myself in the face and die. My face just wouldn't calm down either, I could feel the heat radiating off my face...or maybe my fever came back I don't know! Once we got on the main campus Nagisa chuckled a bit and said,

"Hey Y/n, remember how we met?"

My face flushed red as I recalled that memory,

"Oh my gosh! Of course I do! It was one of the most embarrassing moment of my life!" I exclaimed.

"How come?" he asked.

"Because you saw me slip and fall in a puddle!! That's not cool at all!!" I reminded him.

As soon as I said that I slapped my hand over my hands over my face, causing me to drop my umbrella. When I felt the rain hit my head, I blushed even more, realizing how stupid I was being. Before I could do or say anything to embarrass myself any more, the rain stopped hitting my head. I didn't dare remove my hands as we walked, but then Nagisa grabbed one of my hands and held it. I looked over at him instantly, and my face heated up to its max again. He was looking down at our intertwined hands. That's when I noticed he was holding my umbrella over my head, and he had his umbrella tucked under his arm.

"You worry too much...about what I think about you..."

I was speechless...Nagisa was holding MY HAND!!!

"When we met, and I saw you in that puddle... I just knew that...never mind..."

Nagisa didn't elaborate...Instead he let go of my hand revealing a HELLO KITTY KEYCHAIN!!! I beamed as I looked at pastel hello kitty holding a baseball bat! There were definitely stars in my eyes,

"Nagisa!!! This is so cool! I can't belive you're giving this to me!!" I exclaimed.

I wanted to cry tears of joys. I held the keychain on my finger.

"I'm glad you like it." He told me.

I nodded,

"So awesome! I'm gonna put it on my keys right now!" I told him, pulling my keys out my pocket.

I quickly put my Key chain on my key ring,

"Wow!" I beamed, "Thanks so much!

"No problem." He said handing my umbrella.

I smiled and took it from him, then Nagisa put up his own umbrella. We walked together in a comfortable silence, but eventually started talking and laughing about random teenager things. When we got off campus Nagisa asked me,

"Hey Y/n, are you feeling any better? I noticed you haven't been sneezing."

My face heated up, but for the first time in a while, my brain was finally not making me a dumbass. I decided to actually tell him what was going on and not just deflect the situation,

"Actually...my symptoms have gotten better, but my head...it's killing me..."I trailed off.

I sighed out as I realized my face was getting heated... 'I guess I could try right now...' I thought. I stopped dead in my tracks,

"Uhm! Nagisa?" I said suddenly

"What is it?" He asked locking eyes with me.

My face heated up a lot,

"Uhh I- I-...c-could you ride the train with me to my stop..." I asked timidly.

"Of course!" He assured me.

I sighed a breath of relief.

When we got on the train Nagisa and I sat next to each other by the window. It was dark out and the movement of the train was making me drowsy. My eyelids were getting so heavy, but I didn't want to fall asleep on Nagisa and embarrass myself. I ended up leaning my head on the pole next to me, which felt cool on my hot skin. I ended up falling asleep like five minutes after we left the station.

(Nagisa's p.o.v)

I looked down when I felt Y/n's head fall onto my shoulder. I wasn't really sure what I should do...I decided to check her temperature by putting my hand to her forehead. She was hot to the touch. It was honestly amazing how much Y/n pushed herself to maintain her composure throughout the day, especially through training...she never ceases to amaze me. I brushed a strand of her hair behind her ear, and found myself rubbing her head, 'I wish we could stay like this forever' I leaned my head on top of hers slightly. She didn't stir.

I've finally made up my mind...I'm not gonna say anything to Y/n about her feelings...I don't want to ruin what we have right now...so I'll wait....

Holy shit! I could barely keep this under 3000 words. And idk what happened, I literally was supposed to have post this for Monday as a special bonus, but I kept getting busy!! Like how lame...so smh here's a regular post ig.
