Chapter 5

The whole team Lena spent on her way to J'onn's office, she had to convince herself that she wasn't making a huge mistake, though the only reason she knew to go to J'onn's office was that as soon as she'd been sent to this world, she'd hacked into a non Luthor Corp satellite to covertly scan the city for Kara's alien bio signature, since now she knew that Kara had one to scan for and it had brought her to J'onn's office.

However, she'd been hesitant to approach Kara, simply because she wasn't sure how she could possibly face her friend or former friend, since she wasn't sure if Kara was still considering her a friend, though she knew how the rest of the Superfriends likely felt about her, but right now, Kara was the one she was the most concern about making things right with, since she knew that after everything they'd been through, even when everyone else had given up on her.

That was why she'd steeled her nerves and despite the voice in her head telling her to run before Kara locked her up like she should, Lena walked into the office to find Kara waiting for her, a look of indifference on her face.

"What brings a Luthor here?" Kara asked in a cold tone that made Lena flinch, since even as Supergirl, she'd never heard Kara use against her worst enemies. It was a voice that was void of literally all emotion, something that felt wrong coming from Kara, but Lena knew she deserved it.

"I'm here to make amends, assuming you're not going to throw me in prison." Lena said.

"Can't throw you in prison for crimes you haven't committed yet. Though you're lucky Alex isn't here." Kara said and Lena was relieved to see a small smile appear on Kara's face, which made her think that maybe, there was a chance at fixing things.

"I was wrong about everything, Kara. I was just so hurt by how I found out your secret and I built a wall and let myself suffocate behind it, since that's what I always do after people hurt me." Lena said.

"I'm just trying to figure out how you could let yourself be manipulated by Lex, since you know that he only told you the way he did to turn you against me and he succeeded. And I'm not sure how to feel about that fact that you threw away everything we've been through together over something Lex told you?" Kara asked her and Lena sighed.

"I was already in an emotional state from being betrayed by Lex and Eve at the time and he exploited that. But I have to ask, were you ever going to tell me your secret?" Lena asked.

"Lena, I wanted to tell you my secret every single day since we became friends. I didn't tell you because I thought that you had enough of a target on your back as a Luthor and I didn't want to make it bigger by telling you my secret. But I admit, I almost did tell you on the plane ride back from Kasnia." Kara said.

"Why didn't you?" Lena asked, since she was thinking that if Kara had told her then, everything could've been avoided.

"Lena, you said it yourself, you were an incredibly vulnerable state of mind after being betrayed by Lex and by Eve and I thought that if you found out then who I really was, it would've destroyed you, finding out that the one person you thought you could trust was lying to you too, I couldn't put you through that. That's why I waited until things had calmed down following our fight with Lex before I told you. I thought it might make it easier to tell you." Kara explained.

"Okay, when you put it like that, it makes sense. But how are you not mad at me? I mean, I used Kryptonite on you?" Lena asked.

"I'm willing to let it go this once as long as you promise to never do that again unless I go evil. Then I want you to take me down." Kara said.

"Kara, I thought that you hated kryptonite." Lena said, remembering the hissy fit Kara had thrown when she'd found out Lena was making Kryptonite.

"Lena, I may not like that Kryptonite exists, but after fighting Reign and Red Daughter, I can understand why it has a use. What I was mad about was the fact that you made it behind my back." Kara said.

"You felt like I betrayed you by keeping something so important a secret from you." Lena said.

"Sound familiar?" Kara asked with a smirk.

"Very funny. But Kara, I really am sorry for everything I did. I was wrong and I just want the chance to make things right with you and everyone else." Lena said.

"You're lucky I've always believed in giving second chances to people who don't necessarily deserve them. After all, how do you think I ended up with Mon-El?" Kara asked and Lena chuckled.

"Fair point." Lena said.

"Lena, how do I know that this isn't just another trick, since you fooled me once before and while I'm willing to give you another chance, it's your last one, since the rest of the team won't even want to give you one more after what you did." Kara said.

"Mar Novu metaphorically slapped some sense to me by forcing me to see my actions from a fresh point of view and make me realize that aside from what you just said, I did give you reasons not to trust me, since every time I kept a big secret, it created a huge mess that you ended up having to clean up and I'm sorry for everything." Lena said, but before Kara could respond, the door to the office opened up and Kara was surprised by who she saw walk in.

"Is now a bad time for me to speak with Catco's up and coming star reporter." Kate Kane asked with a rare smile on her face, which Kara shared.

"Kate, what are you doing here?" Kara asked as she rushed forward to hug the other woman, who actually returned the hug.

"I'll tell you later, I didn't realize you had guests?" Kate asked.

"Kate, she knows the truth, though whether or not that's a good thing is yet to be determined." Kara said and Lena could tell that she was intruding.

"Why don't you come by my office later so we can finish this conversation." Lena said and Kara nodded as Lena left.

"What was that about?" Kate asked.

"How about I tell you over drinks. Technically we did just finish a crossover and Barry told me that he and Oliver had a tradition of going out for drinks after crossovers and I have to admit, it does sound tempting." Kara said.

"Agreed. But first, where's that Brainy guy, my tech guy Luke and I want to talk to him about something." Kate said and Kara grinned as she revealed the entrance to the tower.

"I didn't know you had one of these?" Kate said.

"It's a perk of the new world. Come on." Kara said as she showed Kate in.
