Lena was smiling as she went over the latest simulations of the spinal implant Brainy had given her the schematics for that apparently her future self had created or something like that, she'd already decided not to think about the potential time paradox this was creating, since it was allowing her help Alex a lot sooner than she'd normally be able too. And luckily, it looked this was around the time the tech was developed in the first place, since while the schematics had been complex in the beginning, that was just because it was unfamiliar at the time, but she found that her future self or whatever was an excellent teacher, since she quickly learned the concepts behind the tech, since Brainy had been incredibly thorough in providing her with everything she needed to not only build the implant, but to also make sure she understood every little thing about it.

And according to her latest simulation, her current design was nearly good enough to begin human trials, since Lena wasn't giving it to Alex until it had been tested and she was sure that all of the bugs had been worked out. The next issue would be finding test subjects for this, considering how hushed up this project was and she didn't want to risk it getting leaked to a competitor. There was also the fact that she'd find a surgeon who was willing to perform the operation, since it was very risky right now. But right now, what she chose to focus on was how close her device was to completion.

However, she was pulled from her thoughts when she heard the door to her lab open and her AI Hope speak.

"Identity confirmed, Kara Danvers, access granted." Hope said as Kara walked into the lab, since Lena had given her an access card to enter the lab whenever she wanted.

"Hey, what are you doing here?" Lena asked as she looked away from her work and turned to face her girlfriend.

"If you'd checked your phone, you'd see that I've left you several phone calls and voicemails. I'm here because I was worried about you and considering you look like you haven't slept in days, I'd say I was right too." Kara said.

"I haven't. I've been too focused on this walking implant for Alex and I'm so close to cracking it." Lena said.

"And it can wait a day, because I'm taking you home right now to get some sleep, since you can't help Alex if you don't take care of yourself. And I'm staying there to make sure that you sleep. I'll tell J'onn that until you're fully rested, he and the rest of the Legion can watch the city, since right now, my priority is making sure you stay healthy and I'm not taking no for an answer.

"Kara." Lena said.

"No Lena, I can tell you're about to drop and unlike me, you can't rely on the sun to recharge you and even if you could, it's not like there's any sun access in here anyways. You need to sleep." Kara said and Lena knew she was right, since she did feel like she was gonna drop.

"Fine. But at least let me shut everything down properly to make sure that no one tries to steal this." Lena said and Kara nodded as she allowed Lena to shut down her lab before she let Kara lead her out of the room to get some rest.

After Nia had gotten Kara's text that she was spending the night at Lena's to make sure that her girlfriend actually slept, Nia decided that maybe it was time to finally talk to Brainy and work things out with him. Especially since he'd been showing up in her dreams a lot lately. And by dreams, she meant the ones associated with her powers, not the other kind of dreams.

That was why she was now standing at the door to the apartment she shared with Brainy and she took a deep breath before she knocked on it, since she still had her key, since she hadn't been staying here for a few weeks and now it felt kind of weird to just enter.

"Nia. You know you don't need to knock. This is your apartment too. Even if you haven't been living here lately." Brainy said as he showed her in.

"I know. And I've been thinking a lot about what happened and I realize how unfair I've been to you. It couldn't have been easy for you to keep that secret. In fact, I bet there's a lot of things you need to keep secret from us to preserve the timeline. It can't be easy for you." Nia said.

"It's not. But it's not my place to change history and no one should know too much about their own future, since whenever they do, they try to change it and it never ends well." Brainy said.

"I know and I get that. It's just, sometimes I forget that you have to keep secrets like this from me to preserve the timeline. I just wish you didn't." Nia said.

"So do I. The curse of being a Coluan and from the future is that I am burdened with knowledge that I cannot share." Brainy said.

"I know. And I should've known what I was getting myself into when I fell for a man from the future." Nia said.

"Yes, but like I said before, what happened to Alex is fixed point, which means that it can't be messed with. However, considering this is a new universe, I see no reason why we can't try to make a new future, since the whole reason the Legion came to this time period in the first place was to change the future for the better and it proves that it's not set for the most part. It's always changing and it hasn't been written yet." Brainy said and Nia smiled.

"Then maybe next time we have the chance to change things, we take it." Nia said and Brainy smiled.

"I like the sound of that. But it sounds like you're coming home to stay." Brainy said and Nia smiled.

"Yeah, I'm here to stay. Especially since it's my salary from Catco that covers most of the rent compared to your DEO salary." Nia said, since she made double what Brainy did.

"I've been covering the rent fine, though it will be nice to have you back." Brainy said and Nia rolled her eyes as she kissed him.
