Chapter 14

That night at Kara's apartment, her friends were throwing her a party to celebrate both her promotion and her return as Supergirl.

Currently at her apartment besides herself were Alex, Kelly, J'onn, Brainy, Lena and Eliza, who J'onn had restored the memories of so that Eliza wouldn't try to kill J'onn when she saw him wearing Hank Henshaw's face.

"I'm so proud of you Kara." Eliza said with a smile as she hugged her younger daughter.

"Thank you Eliza. I was surprised when Cat told me she even wanted to start up this section of the magazine, but I'm glad she did. I think that my work can actually prevent the rise of the Children of Liberty, since hopefully I can help create a much more tolerant environment towards aliens." Kara said.

"Let's hope. Though it would be even better if you can keep Lex in prison so he can't frame you for attacking the White House." Alex said.

"On my to do list, though that might need to take a bit of a back seat until I get my new responsibilities under control, since I'm gonna be a boss now." Kara said.

"How are you going to balance being the head of the department with being Supergirl?" Eliza asked.

"Well, it helps that I have my own office and Cat is kind of giving me free reign, but still, it will take some adjusting." Kara said.

"Have you told Clark and Lois about your promotion?" Alex asked.

"I did and they both sent their congratulations." Kara said, since she'd gotten congratulations texts from both Clark and Lois after she'd told them about her promotion.

"I bet Lois is probably jealous, since she never became the head of a department at the Daily Planet." Alex said.

"No, but she does have two pulitzers based on her work on her husband." Kara said.

"I still find that hypocritical." Eliza said and Kara shrugged.

"It's not like Clark or I ever won pulitzers for reporting about our own adventures." Kara said.

"Fair enough." Eliza said, right as there was a knock on the door.

"Are we expecting anyone else?" Alex asked.

"No, I don't think so." Kara said as she went to answer the door and smiled when she found Nia Nal waiting on the other side.

"Nia." Kara said as she hugged the last missing member of the Legion.

"Sorry I'm late." Nia said as Kara showed her in.

"How do you remember any of us? I could never find you to restore your memories?" J'onn asked.

"Actually, I was one of the few people who survived Crisis since I was pulled into the dream realm." Nia said.

"Wait, what?" Kara asked, shocked.

"The dream realm is another place that exists outside of space and time. My powers somehow pulled me in right before the antimatter wave hit." Nia said.

"It is possible, but how did you get out?" Brainy asked.

"I spent the past month in the Dream realm and I spent it training." Nia said.

"Training?" Alex asked.

"There are a lot of parts about my powers that I was still having trouble mastering, especially dream interpretation." Nia said.

"Who taught you?" J'onn asked.

"The first Naltorian to ever be given dream powers. The first Dreamer." Nia said.

"How is that possible?" Eliza asked.

"When dreamers die, their spirits become a part of the Dream Realm, kind of like spirit guides or the force ghosts from Star Wars." Nia said and Kara chuckled.

"So the Original Dreamer taught you how to use your powers?" Kara asked, impressed.

"Yeah, and I mean, she is my ancestor." Nia said.

"So, did it work?" Kara asked, proud of Nia.

"Oh yeah. She helped me level up with my powers and showed me ways to use them that I never imagined. And importantly, she showed me that the only limit to my powers are whatever limits I come up with. She showed me that the sky is truly the limit for my powers." Nia said and Kara looked proud.

"Looks like Dreamer is gonna be even more powerful than before. I can't wait to see some of the new tricks you have up your sleeve." Kara said.

"I can't wait to show you. But anyways, I'm clearly crashing a party, so what's going on?" Nia asked as Kara explained her promotion to her.

"Congrats Kara. You deserve this." Nia said, since Kara had always been one of Catco's best reporters, it was nice that she was finally getting the recognition she deserved in the company.

"Thank you and you know that you're my first recruit for this division right?" Kara said and Nia smiled.

"I'd be offended if I wasn't boss." Nia said as Kara showed her in and handed her a drink before Nia made her way over to Brainy, who wasted no time in placing his arm around her waist, which Nia had no complaints about that and the party got back on track.

Later on that night, while the party was still going on, Alex decided to pull Lena aside under the guise of getting more drinks.

"What's going on?" Lena asked.

"I think that right now, Kara is in a good enough mood that if you come clean to her about your feelings for her, you might be pleasantly surprised." Alex said, knowing that J'onn, Brainy and Kelly had been tasked with keeping Kara distracted so she wouldn't be listening in to this conversation.

"I don't know Alex. I mean yes, Kara's in a good mood, but she and I just got back on good terms. I don't want to ruin that." Lena said.

"And Lena I'm telling you from experience, if you don't tell her, you'll just end up pushing her away again." Alex said.

"I don't know Alex." Lena said.

"Lena, take it from someone who spent years denying her feelings for girls. If you keep this bottled up, you're going to make yourself miserable." Alex said.

"Why are you trying to fix me up with your sister?" Lena asked.

"Because I can tell that every time Kara walks up to you, you feel the same way about her that I do about Kelly." Alex said.

"And how is that?" Lena asked.

"Spending time with Kara makes you feel more whole than you've ever felt in your life. She brings a light and warmth into your life that you never thought you'd feel and she makes you want to be the best version of yourself." Alex said and Lena couldn't deny that Alex had just perfectly defined how she felt about Kara.

"If Kelly makes you feel like that, then why haven't you proposed to Kelly yet?" Lena asked her.

"Because Kelly is already super stressed out about her campaign and I don't want to add the stress of wedding planning to that. Besides, I can't help but think that it would make her victory even more special if I topped it by proposing to her on the same night she wins the election." Alex said and Lena smiled.

"I have to admit, I can see that being romantic and I think that Kelly will love it. But back to me, do you really think that if I told Kara how I felt, it would go well?" Lena asked.

"I think that you're gonna drive yourself crazy wondering about it, so do yourself a favor and just tell her so that either way, you'll know. And if things are weird between you two for a little, so be it, but you'll get past it." Alex said, though she knew exactly how it would go and honestly, she felt like this conversation was long overdue.

"Fine, but only if you can guarantee complete privacy. I don't want there to be an audience when I talk to her." Lena said.

"Done." Alex said, since that was more than understandable.
