Complications

((A/N: For those of you notified there was a new chapter, this is a chapter Wattpad ate up, ie it was NEVER posted. For this reason there is a huge gap in the story. This chapter has been/will be moved to where it would take place. Anyways, if you got the notification and are now like 'oh', take this moment to reflect back on how much the story has changed/hopefully improved in a year and how far Lilly and Shauna have come.))

I'm not proud of what I did next, nor am I happy about it. I ran like Red was chasing me. I could almost imagine him being behind me, but there was no one there. Just Shauna, becoming further and further off, a confused and forlorn expression on her face.

Why... it doesn't make any sense! Why would anyone fall for me? Especially another girl. Would it turn her off if I told her the truth? Is it really a good idea to give someone who probably hates me now leverage on me? I decide against it in the end, but still my heart is racing.

It's only an hour later when my Pokemon find me in the hotel. Rune is banging against the door with his stick when Pich unlocks the door with her claw, and they see me huddled up and rocking back and forth on the bed.

"Lilly..." Pich sighs.

"I didn't know what to do! She- I don't even know her!" I lament, trying not to breathe too heavily, to give my weakness away.

"Lilly, if you feel bad because you made her cry..."

"Ohhhh no. She shouldn't have come on to you! Come on, who comes up to someone who's clearly taken and-" Rune snarls, but Chrona cuts him off with a sharp Vine Whip to the side.

"Stop that! You cut it out!" she replies.

"Why? Am I bothering you? Something you want to confess, Chrona?"

She shrinks back, and Juliet pats her with one ear. "Well, there goes the plot for my next shipfic. Oh well." Uncomforted by this, Chrona continues to go over to the area near the TV, which is cold and lonely as she must be, and lies down.

Even though it's only eight, my whole team is asleep in minutes.

I spend about fifteen minutes tossing and turning before going to sleep.

Usually, there would be nightmares, but tonight is still and silent. Just the opposite of my heart, which is still pumping with adrenaline, fear, and regret.

I wake up and I see Chrona sitting under a table, looking out into the distance.

I sigh, knowing that once again we share far too much in common. Maybe that's why my connection with her has developed faster than any of my other Pokemon. I look at her necklace, which has a bright green stone through the middle.

It looks familiar somehow. Probably more crazy, life-changing conspiracy stuff, but in all honesty I don't want any more of that right now.

I ignore it, push Rune off the bed to wake him up, and then turn on the TV. "This is live at KalosCon, where thousands of people have arrived for possibly the largest congregation of nerds in six regions."

It's not particularly interesting, but then they start interviewing people. I recognize one blonde haired guy with blue eyes like the sea. He's wearing black wings and is dragging someone towards the camera.

"Uh, my name's Dillon, and this is Timothy-" He points to the guy next to him, brown-haired with dark eyes and a lot of stubble.

"We agreed on Tom." 'Tom' says, elbowing Dillon in the stomach.

"Annnnyways, I had to drag him here, but it was worth it! Shoutouts to all of us with hearts of gold out there!" He winks.

I'm not sure if I want to hug the TV or throw a shoe at it. Dill and Toxis are both here too, and obviously neither is being very subtle about their past.

The woman reporter mutters something about 'people nowadays' and 'strange references', but that's when I notice Rune is hitting my face.

"What is it?" I ask grumpily.

"Glued to the TV? We need to get going. We were going to cavort all over Route 7." He says.

"What? KalosCon happened already?! We didn't get tickets or anything! I wanted to wear a cosplay!" Juliet exclaims.

"Nerds." Shin seems unimpressed, but then Juliet slaps him with her ear.

"Ow! Ow! Okay, okay fine. It's pretty cool." He winces. "You slap way too hard."

"Well, guys, for those of you who don't know already, I'm from another dimension. Those people on the TV were two of my friends."

"They seemed a little out of it, 'mon." Geyser says, blowing bubbles with his mouth and popping them.

"That's one way to describe Dill and Toxis. My team used to just go with 'eccentric'." I say. "Then again, we all were. Man, Peckers would've loved these conventions, at least according to Shika."

"Have you heard from Shika?" asks Rune.

"Not since we left..." I tell him, shrugging.

"Oh well." He says, "Can we go cavort now?"

So we do, naturally. I decide to enjoy the sun and pick flowers while my Pokemon go on a rampage, fighting artists and Pich killing the wildlife for a nice brunch.

The many joys of living with Pokemon.

Chrona walks up to me with a tiny Drifblim at her side, floating right above her. "This is Mimsy." she explains, "Do we have room for another?"

"Not at the moment, but there's always room in the box. We'll be able to get her out in time. Is she okay with that?"

Mimsy nods slowly, and I take out a Pokeball.

"Thanks." Chrona walks away. I start to say something, and she picks up on it immediately. "Do you want to... uh... train with us?"

"I'll ask Pich. She needs something to do besides killing Magikarps. It's like bullying, but in the wild."

Chrona laughs, which is a beautiful sound, deep like a purr but melodic at the same time. I wonder why she doesn't laugh more often. She shakes one of her leaves out of her face, just for it to fall back on her right eye again, and then she runs off.

I go to Pich, who's bet Shin that she can knock a live Magikarp into his mouth. She throws another, which misses and Juliet releases it back into the river.

"We should probably be more productive." I tell them.

"What's not productive about fish?" Juliet says sarcastically.

"Yeah, what she said!" Shin agrees.

Juliet facepalms, lifting her ear to her head.

"Well, I was wondering if-" I decide I'll give something new a try. "Juliet, Pich, Shin, want to go train some?"

We walk up to a nearby artist, and I send out Juliet. He looks at me, confused, and says, "Wait, I'm just sketching. I think my daughter's into Pokemon battles."

He points to a redhead slashing at the canvas with her brush.

She obliges to the battle without hesitation, sending out a Charmander. Juliet jumps forward, and I start out. "Mud-Slap!"

She throws some mud at it, which manages to annoy it before it retaliates with Ember. Juliet uses Mud-Slap again, this time hitting it into the mouth, but the mud crusts and falls away as a purple light forms in it's throat. "Dragon Rage, Charmander!"

Juliet stands there like a deer in the headlights, and I take my chance. My eyes glow a faint gold and suddenly, I can feel her heartbeat. She acknowledges me like an old friend, gesturing for me to come in.

The unison is perfect.

We dodge, and with a single stroke launch another ball of mud right at it's tail. Charmander begins to sweat as it's fire begins to dull, but our opponent withdraws it.

I open my own eyes and Juliet smiles at me. "I was waiting."

"What?! You knew?"

"Chrona told me." she laughs, "The goldeneye thing is cool! It's like a superpower!"

Goldeneye.

Where have I heard that term before?
