When Black Lightning met Thunder at the border between the Sange and Perdi territories, he was surprised to see that she was not alone.

"Who's this?" Black Lightning asked his daughter, even though he recognized the woman that he knew would one day be his daughter-in-law, but couldn't tell her that.

"Meet Grace Choi. She's a shapeshifter and an honorary member of the Perdi after she escaped from the ASA." Thunder said.

"And I'm here to help take down Looker." Grace said.

"Any help is welcome. But Grace, do you mind if I talk to Thunder in private for a moment?" Black Lightning asked.

"Yeah okay?" Grace asked, wondering what that was about as Black Lightning pulled his partner aside.

"Everything okay?" Thunder asked him, even though she knew what this conversation was about.

"I can see the way you're already looking at Grace, but you can't forget that this version of her doesn't know you. She doesn't know the same history that you do and you can't force that on her. You can't force her to be the Grace that you loved." Black Lightning said.

"I know that, but that doesn't mean that I can't get this Grace to love me like the old one did." Thunder said.

"You can't force those feelings onto her and it's not fair to her if you're only using her to replace your Grace. And it's not fair to you either in that regard." Black Lightning said.

"Dad, I lost her once. I can't lose her again." Thunder said.

"Except this isn't the Grace you knew. You have to let her go." Black Lightning said.

"What do you mean let me go?" Grace's voice asked, drawing their attention back to her.

"Were you listening in on us?" Black Lightning asked.

"I have enhanced senses from my leopard form, including hearing. I couldn't help it, especially after I heard my name be mentioned. But why were you two talking like you know me?" Grace asked.

"It's complicated." Thunder said, since this was not how she wanted to have this conversation.

"Then uncomplicate it. I'm not doing anything without answers and you need me to get inside Looker's compound." Grace said.

"Wait, you know where it is?" Black Lightning asked.

"Shapeshifter, remember. I've done some recon on the Sange to make sure that they weren't planning any moves against the Perdi. But I'm not telling you anything until you tell me what the hell is going on here. How do you know me, since I can from the minute Thunder saw me, she recognized me. What are you not telling me?" Grace asked as Black Lightning and Thunder exchanged looks, wondering if Thunder was gonna have to use her strength to restrain Grace while Black Lightning used his powers to wipe her memory if they had no other choice, since they'd forgotten about Grace's leopard hearing.

"Instead of telling you, allow me to show you." a new voice said and Black Lightning couldn't believe it, but he was actually thrilled to see the Monitor appear out of nowhere.

"Who the hell are you?" Grace asked.

"Someone who can make sense of what they're saying for you." Novu said as he simply tapped Grace's forehead and suddenly the look that Jefferson recognized from when Lynn, Anissa, Gambi and Henderson all had after J'onn had restored their memories and Thunder quickly moved forward to catch her before she fell.

"Not that I'm complaining, but why did you do that?" Black Lightning asked the Monitor.

"For the same reason I restored Anissa's powers." Novu said.

"Wait, you're the one who took my powers away?" Thunder asked as she held a now unconscious Grace.

"You'd lost your way. Forgotten why you became a hero in the first place. You needed to earn your powers back by relearning the lessons your father taught you. Restoring Grace's mind is your reward for passing my test. And also a way of doing my penance for the role I played in the original crisis, which never would've happened had I simply controlled my towering ambitions." Novu said.

"But you're not going to be restoring anyone else's minds will you?" Black Lightning asked.

"No. Grace Choi is the last one needed. Now, you have things to do and I have other matters to address." Novu said as he vanished.
