Chapter 1
Jefferson Pierce was currently standing on the top of the Seahorse Motel in Freeland, currently dressed in his new and improved Black Lightning suit, since even though he'd been retired from that life for nearly a decade, things changed when the main crime gang in Freeland, the 100, broke into his school, Garfield High School, and abducted both of his daughters, his college medical student Anissa and his teenage daughter Jennifer, which had led to him finally becoming Black Lightning again, if only to save his daughters and all the other people that were currently being held captive by the 100 in this motel.
But no matter how good it felt to be back out there again, he had to remind himself that this was a one time thing, since Lynn had only given him her blessing to be Black Lightning again just this once in order to save their girls and he wasn't going to risk finally putting their family back together over being Black Lightning. Not again. Though he couldn't deny that it almost seemed cruel to the people of Freeland to give him a small piece of hope in his return, only to take it away from them again, but he had to put his family first.
Or at least that's what he was thinking until he heard the sound of someone somehow landing on the rooftop and turned to see a black man in some kind of weird black and red suit with a black cape walking up to him.
"Who the hell are you?" Black Lightning asked, making sure his voice modulator was on.
"Jefferson Pierce, we need to talk." the man said, to Black Lightning's shock.
"Why would you think that's my name?" Black Lightning asked.
"Don't worry, this will all make sense in a minute.'' The man said as his eyes glowed red and before Black Lightning could blast him, the man moved at an impossible speed and placed his hand to Jefferon's temple and his eyes glowed red and suddenly Jefferson got a killer headache and a surge of new memories entered his mind, including this man's identity.
"Was the headache really necessary J'onn?" Jefferson asked as he looked around before removing his goggles.
"Sorry Jefferson, it's an unavoidable side effect of waking you up to the truth of this reality. Especially considering all the troubling things I learned when I restored your memories. Particularly about this ASA." J'onn said.
"So, you saw them in my memories?" Jefferson asked.
"I did and I'm going to use some government contacts of my own to look into this group, since it's clear that if they still exist on this earth and the fact that you have your powers is a clear sign that they do, they clearly need to be dealt with before they start a military occupation again or expand their efforts to places like Central City, since the metahuman population there is even larger than it is here and those metas are stable." J'onn said and Jefferson shuddered.
"Yeah, hopefully we can get the ASA shut down before they set their sights on other cities, since it's bad enough they sank their hooks into Freeland." Jefferson said and J'onn nodded.
"I'm assuming you want me to restore the memories of other people in this city?" J'onn asked and Jefferson nodded.
"Specifically my daughters Anissa and Jen, my best friend Bill Henderson, my ex-wife Lynn Stewart and my foster father Peter Gambi." Jefferson said.
"In other words your team and I'm assuming your daughters are on the list only because they have powers and they're gonna use them whether you like it or not." J'onn said and Jefferson nodded in agreement.
"I take it you're speaking from experience." Jefferson asked.
"I had two daughters of my own before I lost them." J'onn said, making it clear that they did not have the kind of relationship that warranted that discussion.
"Understood. And J'onn, thank you. Now that I know what's coming, I can stop it before it happens." Jefferson said and J'onn nodded as he left to restore the memories of the people that Jefferson had asked him too.
