Chapter 5
After Selina showed up at his office, Bruce decided to take her back to his mansion so they could talk without worrying about being overheard. Well except for Alred, who'd no doubt be spying on them in order to report back to Helena about how her plan went.
Anyways, the two of them were now sitting in the parlor of Wayne Manor, sipping their usual brandy, since whenever Selina came into town, no matter the reason, they always had a drink from the same brandy before they either worked together or tried to beat the shit out of each other. Either way, it usually ended with them sleeping together.
"So, are you gonna tell me why you're here or is it gonna be a case where I find out right before I beat you up and act like I'm gonna send you Arkham." Bruce asked and Selina chuckled.
"Neither. I'm here because your daughter is way too obsessed with whatever it is that's going on between us." Selina said and Bruce chuckled.
"Tell me something I don't know. Helena's become obsessed with making sure I don't die alone." Bruce said, rolling his eyes at his daughter's actions.
"Still, she happened to mention that you're getting out of the game." Selina said.
"She talks too much, but she's not wrong." Bruce said.
"What's wrong, you can't pay to have your looks cover up your age anymore?" Selina asked mockingly and Bruce rolled his eyes at her.
"Careful Selina. I seem to recall paying for a few of those operations that weren't for me. Don't start something that you can't finish. But do I need to warn Kate that you're gonna be causing her the same problems you caused me?" Bruce asked and Selina rolled her eyes.
"First off, I don't swing that way, so no, since I have no plans of directing our relationship to Kate. Especially since honestly, half the reason I was Catwoman was to get your attention." Selina said.
"What?" Bruce asked.
"Oh don't get me wrong, I loved all the shiny, expensive things I stole, but after we started our little dance, the whole Catwoman thing kind of went from me taking what I want when I want it to me wanting your attention. Since let's face it, if I'd just approached you as Selina Kyle, you would've slept with me once and then moved on. I didn't want that. I wanted you to actually take the time to get to know me, or at least I did after we figured out each other's identities. I kept being Catwoman because it was the only way to make sure you'd actually pay attention to me." Selina admitted.
"I'd be pissed if that wasn't true." Bruce said.
"So, I guess with Batman hanging up his mask, so is Catwoman, since it won't be fun anymore. I'll even turn over my whip." Selina said.
"You mean the whip you made out of tech you stole from me?" Bruce asked.
"Please, we both know that if you didn't want me to have that tech, I wouldn't have gotten it." Selina said with a chuckle.
"It's better for my image if I let people think that you stole it, so just play along." Bruce said.
"Fair enough. But I'm keeping the costume." Selina said.
"Fine. But anyways, I'm guessing we're finally getting to what actually brought you back to Gotham?" Bruce asked.
"Yeah, I wanted to know if you've given any thought to what comes next now that you're no longer Batman." Selina said.
"Well, I'm still figuring that out, since I'm also making Kate CEO of Wayne Enterprises, since both jobs are kind of necessary. After she's settled in, I think I'm gonna leave Gotham for awhile, just because as long as I'm here, there will always be a temptation to put the suit back on." Bruce said.
"I get it. But maybe when you leave, you don't have to leave alone." Selina said.
"Wait what?" Bruce asked.
"Since you're not Batman anymore, maybe you're finally free enough to see where whatever it is that's between us goes?" Selina asked and Bruce chuckled.
"Yeah, that sounds nice. Especially since one of the main reasons I'm giving up Batman is so that I can figure out who Bruce Wayne is without him." Bruce said and Selina smiled.
"I'm more than happy to help you find out." Selina said as she kissed him, which Bruce happily returned, while outside the parlor, Alfred just rolled his eyes at this, since he'd already locked the parlor doors to make sure they were not interrupted.
