Chapter 7
Sarab was very nervous, though he did his best not to show it, as he entered the throne room of his master Ra's al Ghul in Nanda Parbat.
"What is your report Sarab? Have you found my daughter?" Ra's asked.
"Yes my liege, but I bring bad news." Sarab said.
"Speak quickly." Ra's said.
"It would appear that not only did Nyssa fail her mission to eradicate Ta-er Al Safar, but she chose to follow her example and decided to abandon the League as well." Sarab said and to his surprise, Ra's simply chuckled.
"As I suspected she would. You see Sarab, I sent her after her former lover as a test of her loyalty, since after Talia abandoned me, I knew it was likely Nyssa would as well. However, I could not kill her without proof, since unfortunately, she was still my only heir. But now I have it and she will pay for her choice." Ra's said.
"What about Ta-er Al Safar?" Sarab asked.
"Leave her be. I always knew that someday she would leave us and honestly, I fear that killing her would only bring more trouble than she's worth. Let her live her lowly existence, for she never truly belonged here, her heart and soul remained divided and she is no real loss to us. Nyssa on the other hand, she will pay. Have you located her?" Ra's asked and Sarab nodded.
"Yes my liege, it would appear that she has decided to take refuge in America, in a town called Ivy Town, but there is a complication, though it is slight." Sarab said.
"What kind of complication?" Ra's asked.
"According to our scouts, apparently your daughter is a part of a small team of vigilantes that have been operating in Ivy Town over the past few weeks. Apparently they have become quite formidable and they even know our ways. The only thing of greater concern would be one of Talia's students in Star City. He could become a real problem if he chooses too." Sarab said.
"Talia's told me about him and I do not believe he'll be a problem so long as we do not provoke him. Besides, with any luck, he'll be able to keep Al Saher in line and deal with him should he overstep." Ra's said and Sarab nodded.
"How would you like to proceed?" Sarab asked.
"Well, before I make Nyssa pay for her sins, I must first learn the exact nature of what her allies are capable of. I believe it would be best for me to observe her and her allies in action in person so I can be sure I know all the details of her defenses before I kill her." Ra's said and Sarab nodded.
"Well, what do you think?" Ryan asked Thea as they, along with Nyssa and Roy, walked through the tunnels of their recently completed base.
"I think that the Labyrinth turned out even better than we'd hoped for." Thea said, since that did feel like an appropriate name for their base, an underground maze, which is essentially what the base was, plus it also had a bit of a greek touch like Thea's codename, Artemis, and they'd decided to kind of keep that trend going. While Roy had kept his codename Arsenal, Nyssa and Ryan had both chosen new codenames that also stemmed from Greek Mythology. Ryan's codename was Daedelus, after the Greek inventor and it did make sense since Daedelus was the creator of the labyrinth in the first place, so they were both from the same story. Nyssa had taken on the codename Enyo, after the Greek Goddess of War. It felt very appropriate, since while Thea was an archer, which was why she'd picked Artemis, the greek goddess of hunting, Nyssa preferred to use swords.
"You're not wrong. I swear Oliver would be so jealous if he found out that we got something like this and he's reduced to a bunker." Roy said and Thea chuckled.
"I have to admit, with all the other crazy shit that's in Star City, I'm surprised that there aren't tunnels underground there." Thea said and Roy chuckled.
"I guess they decided that Star City couldn't have all the cool things. Besides, now I get to rub it in Ollie's face that my clubhouse is cooler than his." Thea said.
"While this is highly amusing, I believe we should get back to the matter at hand." Nyssa said.
"Which matter?" Ryan asked.
"I believe that my father has discovered that I am here in Ivy Town." Nyssa said.
"You really think that Ra's has figured it out by now?" Thea asked as she looked over at Nyssa.
"Yes. My father is many things, but he is not a fool. I am sure that by now he has realized that I failed to either kill or subdue Sara and that I have gone rogue myself. We should alert Oliver to keep an eye on Sara's family, in case the League tries to get her through them." Nyssa said.
"Not that it would do much good considering wherever the hell Sara is right now, I doubt they'd be able to reach her." Thea said.
"I think you mean whenever she is now." Roy said.
"Please don't make that joke. Only person who hates it more than me is Sara." Thea said.
"Sorry boss." Roy said.
"Anyways, my father will no doubt start riling up this city's criminal element in order to better assess our capacity to fight him. Then, once he knows our strengths and weaknesses, he will come for me and because you all chose to harbor me, he will consider you just as guilty." Nyssa said.
"Sounds like him. But that means we need to step training into high gear. I still owe that bastard some payback for nearly killing me." Thea said and Nyssa nodded, since she did believe that like her brother, Thea did have the best chance of defeating her father.
"Let's get started then." Nyssa said as she and Thea headed towards the training room.
