Chapter 12
This chapter is where things really start to get really interesting and not exactly how I think anyone, including myself originally thought, but then again, I do have several Percy Jackson stories posted on Fanfiction from years ago and I named Thea after the greek goddess Artemis and we know that the Greek gods existed in the arrowverse thanks to Charlie/Clotho, so here we go in a crazy new way that I like and I hope you guys like it too.
Thea Queen was currently very confused. Which was weird since she was not used to being confused while she was asleep. At least not like this, since for the first time in her life, she was actually aware that she was dreaming. Of course, like most people, she had dreams when she fell asleep, but usually she had no idea that she was dreaming or even remembered what had happened when she woke up, but this was different.
This time she was fully aware of everything that was happening in her dreams.
"Where am I?" Thea asked as she looked around to see it was some kind of island.
"You're at my home." a new voice said as Thea turned to see a woman around her age with short auburn hair and piercing silver eyes while wearing a silver greek style dress and had a quiver of silver arrows strapped to her back. She wore a silver circlet in her hair that had a crescent moon shape on it.
"Who are you?" Thea asked and the woman smiled at her.
"I am Artemis, the goddess of the moon and the one that you so rightly named yourself after." Artemis said, shocking Thea.
"How is this possible? I admit I've seen some crazy things in my life, but this, talking to a god." Thea said and Artemis chuckled at her.
"I understand your skepticism, truly, I do. But I really am the goddess Artemis." Artemis said.
"Why would a Greek goddess be talking to me, since I'm sure it's not just because I copied your name for my vigilante cover." Thea said and Artemis chuckled.
"No Thea, it's not. At least not all of it. I've been watching over you from the moment you were born." Artemis said.
"Yeah, cause that doesn't sound creepy at all." Thea said and Artemis chuckled.
"We're connected Thea, we always have been, you just never realized it." Artemis said.
"What do you mean we're connected?" Thea asked and Artemis smiled.
"There's a reason why you've always excelled at archery, even more so than your brother at times. There's a reason why you've always been more drawn to the night and the moon. It's because from the day you were born, you were destined to be my champion." Artemis said.
"Does that mean I have to swear off boys like you did, because if so, I'll pass." Thea said and Artemis chuckled.
"That's entirely your choice and while I'd approve if you did, I don't judge you for not making the same choice I did. In fact, Mr. Harper, despite being a man, has proven himself to be a decent one, mainly because he knows that you're in charge in your relationship." Artemis said.
"True, but you still haven't explained what's going? What do you mean we're connected, how? And how can I be your champion?" Thea asked as suddenly, she noticed the goddess's form fading as Artemis collapsed.
"Because I'm dying Ms. Queen." Artemis said.
"How can a goddess die?" Thea asked as she rushed to the goddess's side.
"Because my immortality was only strong as long as I had followers to feed it. My power sprung from devotion, but it has been weakening for centuries and I cannot hold on much longer." Artemis said.
"What do you mean?" Thea asked as she actually held the goddess in her arms. That was something she never thought she'd do, even in a dream.
"Over the centuries, humans have begun to solely worship your Christian God and as such, we Olympians have begun to lose our power, we are fading away. I was able to hold on longer than most since I am also the goddess of the moon and there are still people who worship it. It has allowed me to endure much longer than most of the others. But my time is running out. That is why I chose you, Thea." Artemis said.
"You chose me to do what?" Thea asked, still confused.
"When I fade, my remaining power, which stems from people's belief in the moon itself, will need a vessel to contain it and you are that vessel. That power will become yours." Artemis said.
"I'll become a goddess?" Thea asked Artemis shook her head.
"No, I do not have enough power remaining to do that. You will still be mortal, but you will possess power few other mortals can match. The power of the moon itself will be yours to command. Once you learn to control it." Artemis said and Thea was stunned by this as the goddess took her hand.
"Why me? I'm sure there are plenty of other people you could've chosen." Thea said and Artemis gave her a sad smile.
"I chose you Thea because I could tell that you have the heart to handle it. Your soul, while burdened, is still pure. And you fit all the criteria of the one who can be myself. You are a young woman who's devoted herself to protecting others and is a highly skilled archer. There are few people more worthy of this honor than you." Artemis said as Thea wiped a tear from her eye as she took the goddess's hand.
"Are you sure you want to do this?" Thea asked, since she had a feeling that once this was done, it couldn't be undone.
"I have been waiting for this day for a long time, so that my own suffering could end. I have been dying slowly for centuries. I am ready to move on, but I can't until I've ensured that my legacy is in good hands." Artemis said.
"How will I learn to use your power?" Thea asked.
"It is your power now, but whenever you need me, I will be there. Maybe not physically, but in time, you will learn to hear me, to summon my consciousness from the void for brief instances when you need me the most." Artemis assured her and Thea finally nodded.
"Okay, do it." Thea said, finally accepting what the goddess was telling her, even if it was still hard to wrap her head around.
"Very well. Prepare yourself Ms. Queen. The process will be intense." Artemis said as she finally allowed her form to melt away into silver light, which immediately merged into Thea's body and the experience was so intense that it actually woke her up.
"Well, that was crazy." Thea said, thinking that she'd need to find out if any of this was true. If she really had become some form of goddess.
Hope you guys liked this chapter and this twist. I know it seems unconventional, but I think it was a great idea. Plus, bringing greek gods in does open the door for a certain hero to possibly appear sometime in the future. After the League war is over, since I am finishing that arc before I fully explore this one.
