Chapter 17

Lonnie Machin, aka, Anarky, was currently standing in the headquarters of the Yakuza clan, where his crew had taken control and he had the leader of the Yakuza tied up in his own chair behind his desk.

"What do you want?" the Yakuza leader, Yoshida Takamura, demanded as he struggled to break free from his bonds.

"To offer you the same choice that I offered the other crime bosses in this city. They all refused, which led to their deaths. I hope that you're smarter than them." Anarky said.

"What do you want?" Takamura asked as he watched Anarky play around with his prized katana.

"Your allegiance. War is coming to this city and I need soldiers and resources to fight it. Yours to be specific. I've already taken control of the other gangs by force, but I'd really prefer not to have to do it again.

"What's in it for me?" Takamura asked, thinking that right now, the Yakuza code was nothing if it meant he'd died and Anarky grinned, since it appeared that someone finally had a brain.

"How about control of this city after the war is over, since once it is, I'll have the world and you can have this city." Takamura said.

"No. I join you, you help me take over full control of the Yakuza clan, since that will help you." Takamura said.

"I see you understand the importance of bargaining and you're being smart about it, since I agree, especially since I'm sure that your bosses in Japan won't be happy that you've gone rogue." Anarky said, since he had to admit, he did respect a man who craved power.

"So, do we have a deal?" Takamura asked.

"You and your men pledge your loyalty to me and then, when the dust clears and we've won the war, I promise you will have more power and influence than you ever thought possible." Anarky said.

"Deal." Takamura said.

"Good. New girl, let him go." Anarky said to his newest gang member, a 15 year old girl named Zara Williams, nodded as she walked up to him and let Takamura go.

"Let's shake on it." Anarky said as he held out his hand to Takamura, who looked at it suspiciously.

"Okay." Takamura said as he took Anarky's hand, only to gasp in shock and fall to his knees as he felt some kind of weird energy surge into his body from Anarky's hand.

"What are you doing to me?" Takamura asked.

"I'm giving you what you wanted. Power. Real power. A gift to those who serve me. Who serve my family. Who serve my mission. Who serves war." Anarky said as his eyes glowed red before turning pitch black as he transferred a small fraction of the immense power within him to Takamura, also putting him under his control that he'd never get out of.

"Of course, the price of this power is your free will. You're now my slave. Or should I say, a slave of war." Anarky said with a chuckle as Takamura could've sworn he saw someone else in Anarky's place. A tall, strong warrior wearing some kind of black armor appeared for just a second before Anarky returned.

"What are you?" Takamura asked him.

"I am war made flesh. Now you, get him out of here. Prepare for battle." Anarky said, since he could sense another powerful presence near them. The presence of a god. One that hadn't been felt in centuries.

"Yes sir." Zara said as she took Takamura outside as Anarky kept the Katana in his hand as he infused it with some of his own energy, turning it pure black with red symbols on it and just in time to use it to slash a silver arrow that came flying through the window as a girl in silver battle armor jumped through the window.

"Hello Artemis." Anarky said as he looked at his opponent.

"You know who I am?" Artemis asked.

"I'm surprised you don't recognize one of your own. Though I will give you credit on picking your avatar. After all, your avatar has the same history with mine that you have with me." Anarky said, though Artemis realized that it was someone else speaking through Anarky's body.

"You're not just Lonnie Machin are you?" Artemis asked.

"No more than you're only Thea Queen. You know who I am, Artemis. After all, I am your big brother." Anarky said with a chuckle as Artemis realized who she was facing.

"Ares. You've returned." Artemis said as she aimed her bow at her archenemy.

"Let's do this. It's been a very long time since I've been able to kill a god. Though Hippolyta was a nice treat." Ares said and Artemis glared at him.

"I knew you had something to do with that. And something to do with what's going on now. You're the one causing all this war and death here." Artemis said.

"Very good. And with every battle I start, my power grows. Soon I will be able to shed this mortal vessel and reclaim my true godly glory." Ares said.

"And you're delusional if you think that I won't stop you, just like how Diana stopped you last time." Artemis said.

"She took me by surprise. But you, I know you all too well. But let's see if you can stop me." Ares said as he drew his sword the two godly avatars charged at each other.
