Chapter 3
"So, how much longer are they going to be running tests on Jasmine?" Oliver asked Laurel.
"Beats me? After all, as far as these doctors know, this is the first time Jasmine has ever been to a doctor, since it's not like I can tell them that she was delivered by an Argus doctor or that I got medical training from them to help care for her." Laurel said, since while she was still planning on getting her law license back once they returned to Star City, since in this reality, the city had always been called Star City, not Starling, but anyways, after she'd given birth to Jasmine, she'd asked Lyla, who'd been the director of Argus at the time thanks to Oliver offing Waller, something that she personally agreed with, to arrange to give her some basic medical training so she could take care of Jasmine.
"Still." Oliver said.
"Believe me, I'm not thrilled about it either, but I'd rather them be extra thorough while they're examining her than to overlook something. Especially since we never did have a chance to get her vaccinations in order, mainly because she's been too young to get any." Laurel said and Oliver nodded in agreement, since he knew she had a point, but he hated waiting.
However, the wait ended pretty much right after that as a doctor came in, holding a sleeping Jasmine in his arms.
"How was she?" Oliver asked as he took his daughter for the first time in his life from the doctor.
"Luckily, she fell asleep pretty early on during the examinations, so she didn't give us any issues. She's also in very good health considering the fact that she was born on an island with no medical system." the doctor said, thankfully in English.
"We found ways to adapt." Oliver said and the doctor nodded.
"Well everything seems to be in order, though I do recommend that you find her a good pediatrician when you get home, since she should be nearing the age where she needs to get her shots." the doctor said and Oliver and Laurel nodded.
"It was already on our list." Oliver assured him.
"Good, and now I feel I should inform you that you have visitors." the doctor said and Oliver smiled, since he was pretty sure he knew who they were.
"Send them in." Oliver said and the doctor nodded as he stepped out and a few minutes later, Moira Queen and Quentin Lance stepped through the door.
"Oliver." Moira said.
"Hi mom." Oliver said with a smile.
"Laurel." Quentin said, getting choked up at sight of one of his daughters being alive and well.
"Hi dad." Laurel said as she rushed forward and hugged her father and but Oliver could tell that his mother's eyes were on the two year old in his arms.
"Oliver, is that?" Moira asked and Oliver nodded with a smile.
"Mom, Quentin, meet your granddaughter, Jasmine Shado Queen." Oliver said.
"Granddaughter." Quentin said and Laurel nodded as she turned to see her daughter was still asleep.
"I know you probably have questions, but can they please wait for now. This is the first time she's been able to sleep where we haven't had to worry about waking her up to run." Laurel said and both of their parents nodded as Moira moved closer to take a look at her granddaughter.
"She's beautiful." Moira said with a smile.
"Thank you. I'm just glad that hopefully, she's so young she won't remember any time on that island. All she'll know is a happy life in Star City." Oliver said and Moira nodded.
"And she'll get it. And if anyone hurts her, well, they'd better hope that I was having a good day, otherwise, being a cop will come in second to being a father and now a grandfather. Which is definitely not something I thought I would say. I mean, when I found out you were still alive Laurel, I was thrilled, but I never expected this. Surprised it didn't make the news." Quentin said.
"We made sure to get her here discreetly. I don't want her living with paparazzi all the time, since I don't want her to be like I was." Oliver said.
"I approve of that. While you may have straightened out your act, you still did make a lot of mistakes, but getting my daughter and granddaughter home safely, that makes up for them all." Quentin said.
"I thought you'd blame me for the accident." Oliver said, since this was very different from the first time he'd come home, though that might be because that time, he'd been coming home alone. This time he was not.
"I did for awhile, but then I made a mistake." Quentin said.
"He tried to push the blame off on Thea. Which led to me finally getting involved and threatening to sue the department if Quentin did not receive counselling, which he did and it helped." Moira said.
"Speaking of Thea, how's she doing?" Oliver asked, worried that she was the same person she'd been the first time he'd come home. But to his surprise, Moira smiled.
"While she had it rough at first, she turned her life around much earlier than you did. She actually graduated high school with honors and is now a student at Ivy Town University." Moira said.
"Thea going to college. That just sounds weird." Oliver said and Moira chuckled.
"Well, after she got her life together, she decided that she wanted to take over the family business, showing a lot more willingness to do so than you ever did, so I began grooming her to take over the company. Of course, if you have a problem with that." Moira said.
"No, Thea can have Queen Consolidated, I never wanted it and I don't know why dad was so insistent on me taking it." Oliver said.
"I don't think we'll ever understand what went through your father's head." Moira said and Oliver nodded.
"Anyways, what about Sara?" Laurel asked, since even though she already knew the answer to this, she needed to hear her father say it.
"It seems that my family needs to stay away from boats, since a little while after the gambit went down, Sara decided to go on a cruise to try and help herself move past the death of her sister. Instead, I just lost another daughter, since apparently her ship got boarded by pirates and in the chaos, she got lost. They couldn't tell if she drowned or was taken captive or what happened to her." Quentin said as Laurel placed her hand on her father's shoulder.
"Dad, until today, you thought I was dead. If I'm alive, then there's a chance that Sara is too." Laurel said, since she knew that her sister was still alive, but she couldn't just tell him that.
"I hope so. But either way, at least I have you." Quentin said and Laurel nodded in agreement.
