Chapter 20

"So, this is where you and Laurel are raising your daughter?" Tommy asked Oliver as they arrived at the Queen family ranch.

"It's a place that's far from the city, so the paparazzi won't be able to surround her the way they did us when we were younger. Plus, it pays to have a friend who's married to the director of Argus, since she did us a favor and installed an Argus grade forcefield around the entire property and while yes, it's to protect the base from intruders, more importantly, it's to keep Jasmine from sneaking boys in and out of the property when she gets to that age." Oliver said and Tommy chuckled.

"Think you can get me one of those if I ever have a wife and daughter?" Tommy asked.

"You mean when?" Oliver asked.

"Oliver, I haven't changed my mind. I'm going to come clean to the authorities about everything I did as Prometheus." Tommy said.

"Tommy, that wasn't you. It was your father. He forced you to become Prometheus, hell he mind controlled you. You weren't in control." Oliver said.

"That doesn't change the fact that I still did all those terrible things. And no matter what you say to me Ollie, I won't be able to move forward." Tommy said and Oliver sighed.

"Are you sure?" Oliver asked, really wishing that he could convince Tommy to change his mind.

"Yeah, I am. And whatever the punishment is, I'll take it. I'm not like you. I didn't break the law to help people, I did it to hurt them." Tommy said and Oliver sighed.

"Fine. In fact, there's someone inside you can confess to." Oliver said as they arrived at the house.

"Who?" Tommy asked as Oliver led him inside to find Laurel there, along with her father and to Tommy's surprise, her sister.

"Sara?" Tommy asked and Sara smiled at him, so happy to see Tommy alive, since she knew how much of a toll his death had taken on her sister and her oldest friend.

"Hey Tommy." Sara said as she got up and moved to hug him.

"How, we thought you were dead?" Tommy asked and Sara smiled.

"It's a long story." Sara said.

"But, are you back for good?" Tommy asked.

"No, but at least now my family doesn't think I'm dead. Well, besides mom, but that's only because she's made it very clear that family is not a very high priority for her." Sara said, since while she'd reach out to her mom eventually, it likely would not be any time soon.

"Anyways, Detective Lance, there is something I need to tell you." Tommy said, but since Quentin was pretty sure he knew what it was, he decided to for once, put the cop away and instead focus on being a father and a grandfather.

"Whatever it is Tommy, it can wait till tomorrow, since for the first time in five years, I have both of my daughters under the same roof, plus a granddaughter that even though I've only known about her for a short time, already means the world to me. I'm not going to interrupt it for anything police related." Quentin said.

"Who are you and what have you done with Quentin Lance, since the man I remember put his badge first?" Tommy asked and Quentin chuckled.

"Let's just say that over the past five years, I've had a lot of time to reevaluate my priorities. I spent too much time putting my job ahead of my family, it's part of why Dinah left me. I'm not making that mistake again." Quentin said.

"If I didn't know better, I'd say it sounds like you're thinking about retirement." Sara said to her father.

"That's because I am." Quentin said, surprising them all.

"Why don't I show Tommy to the guest room while you three talk, since Sara, I'm guessing you're not staying with us?" Oliver asked and Sara nodded.

"I've made other arrangements." Sara said, since she used a timer courier to travel to the Waverider and back.

"Good to know." Oliver said as he led Tommy upstairs.

"Dad, are you serious about retiring?" Laurel asked, since honestly, she never thought her father would do that.

"Yeah, I am. Look, I've had to live in a world that did not have either of you in it and it was worse than living with only one of you. I never even got the chance to meet the woman your sister loves in the old reality because I died before she could introduce me. Besides, I think it would be better if Jasmine had a babysitter who actually knew what her parents were doing when they were gone. I still can't believe that you're going out into the field with a kid her age." Quentin said.

"I'm doing it for her. To make sure this city is a safe place for her to live." Laurel reminded him.

"Anyways, there's a reason why I came here before Ava, who is currently keeping an eye on the rest of the Legends for the moment, since honestly, the only reason we're leaving the ship tonight is because the Legends are taking the night off, meaning they won't be on the ship." Sara said.

"Probably a smart call considering all the stories you have told me. Speaking of which, I do expect some kind of way to talk to you while you're time traveling." Quentin said.

"I told Ray he was not allowed to leave the ship until he'd built a temporal communicator, which is basically a video phone you can use to call me anywhere in the timeline." Sara said.

"I expect one of those too." Laurel said immediately.

"Done. But anyways, can we get back on topic here?" Sara asked.

"Right, so what's going on?" Laurel asked her sister.

"Well, the day none of us ever thought would come has arrived." Sara said.

"Wait, Sara, are you saying what I think you're saying?" Laurel asked and the grin on her little sister's face was answer enough.

"Yes, I've been in love with Ava for years and honestly, what I feel for her is stronger than what I felt for Nyssa and Oliver combined. So, I'm not gonna waste anymore time. To quote a famous song, I like it, so I'm going to put a ring on it." Sara said and Laurel squealed.

"I'm so glad I'm alive to see this day." Laurel said.

"So am I, since there's no one else I'd have as my maid of honor and dad, you are walking me down the aisle." Sara said.

"Considering the fact that I never thought I'd be able to do that, just because of the fact that you never really showed any signs of wanting to settle down, of course I will." Quentin said.

"Thank you. But anyways, dad, I was hoping to use your mom's ring to propose to Ava with." Sara said.

"Really, even though you have access to all the jewels and rings you could want through time travel?" Quentin asked.

"I want to give her a ring that actually means something." Sara explained and Quentin chuckled.

"Since I refused to let your mother leave town with it, yes I do and I am very happy to know that one of my daughters will be using it." Quentin said.

"Thanks dad. Speaking of which, what about you Laurel? You've already got a kid, why not put a ring on it?" Sara asked, now looking at her sister.

"Because while everyone on this earth thinks that Ollie and I have been together for the past five years, in reality, we only got back together on our way home from Lian Yu. We love each other and we love Jasmine, but we're not ready for marriage. Not yet. But someday, I will be Mrs. Laurel Queen." Laurel promised.

"That is the eventual goal." Oliver said as he rejoined them.

"Where's Tommy?" Laurel asked.

"Sleeping. I think he wanted one last good night's sleep on a real bed before he turned himself in, since I couldn't convince him not to confess." Oliver said.

"Look Oliver, I don't want him to do it either, but you of all people should understand the need for redemption. If this is what Tommy feels he has to do to redeem himself, we can't stop him." Laurel said.

"Plus, him turning himself in is the only way to expose his father so that when you kill him, the world will know he deserves it." Quentin said.

"True. But that doesn't mean I have to like it." Tommy said.

"Don't worry, since Tommy was brainwashed, he was not working with his father of his own free will, which means that he can't be charged with any crimes, plus, cooperating with the authorities can get him a deal." Laurel said.

"I hope you're right Laurel. Because I can't lose him again." Oliver said.

"Neither can I." Laurel agreed.

"Did Alena have any luck finding a new team techie, since she's no inventor." Oliver asked, changing the topic.

"Actually, she might have. I'll show you the file later." Laurel said and Oliver nodded.
