Timeline of Events [2005]
Riddhi's POV:
Alas, nothing lasts forever.
The world of Yahoo Messenger had become a wild west of the internet. The place that was once respectful and enjoyable was now filled with hatred, bullying and all sorts of crimes.
I stayed in my corner of Yahoo Messenger, sticking to the same chatrooms and groups I had frequented for years. The familiar faces and conversations were like a comforting blanket in the chaos of the rest of the platform. But even in my secluded haven, I couldn't escape the changes that were sweeping through the internet.
One day, while scanning through the usual list of chatrooms, a new one at the very bottom caught my eye: The Haven. Intrigued, I clicked on it.
The chatroom was filled with soft colors and gentle music played in the background. The people chatting there were kind and considerate, a stark contrast to the rest of the platform.
As I lingered in The Haven, I felt a sense of peace wash over me. It was as if this little corner of Yahoo Messenger had been untouched by the darkness that pervaded the rest of the internet.
However, the peace didn't last too long.
Maya's POV:
However, the peace didn't last too long.
QuanDatum had crumbled under mysterious circumstances, leaving us all reeling. Despite my best efforts to uncover the truth through conversations with former colleagues and seniors, no one could offer a solid reason for the sudden shutdown.
Rumors began to swirl around the office, whispers of financial mismanagement, corporate espionage, and even sabotage. As the days passed, tension grew among the remaining employees at QuanDatum, each wondering if they would be the next to receive a pink slip.
I couldn't shake the feeling that there was something darker at play, something lurking beneath the surface that none of us could see.
Determined to uncover the truth, I delved into the company's archives once again, sifting through old documents and emails for any clue that could shed light on QuanDatum's sudden downfall.
Little did I know that my investigation would lead me down a dangerous path, one that would challenge everything I thought I knew about the company and ultimately put my own life in jeopardy.
I stumbled upon a series of encrypted files buried deep within the archives, each more cryptic and puzzling than the last. It was clear that someone had gone to great lengths to conceal whatever information they held. As I worked tirelessly to crack the codes, I couldn't shake the feeling of being watched, as if unseen eyes were monitoring my every move.
A chilling realization washed over me - QuanDatum's downfall was not just a result of mismanagement or espionage. There was a malevolent force at play, pulling strings from the shadows to ensure the company's demise.
I knew I was getting closer to the truth when strange things started happening. My computer was hacked, my phone tapped, and someone began following me on my way home from work. But I refused to be intimidated.
I had come too far to turn back now.
❛His vesture was dabbled in blood—and his broad brow, with all
the features of the face, was besprinkled with the scarlet horror.❜
— Edgar Allan Poe
a/n: a VERY short chapter that shadows the lives of two women caught on the opposite sides of a trap they found too enticing to escape.
Lemme know your thoughts and opinions on the chapter!
Cheers,
