The woman stares at the man standing in front of her with her brows furrowed together. It took him a moment to snap out of his daze with the shake of his head. He smiles awkwardly at her even though she didn't quite return it.
He was the one who bumped into her like some dweeb. "I'm so sorry," He quickly apologizes. "Are you alright?"
He offers a hand down to her. She takes a glance at it and notices his hand had tattoos on them but she looks away and gets up on her own. Frowning, Jungkook retracts his hand and watches her stand up while brushing the non-existent dust off her shoulders.
He got a better look at her, she was indeed small. Her head probably reached his neck.
"You should've watched where you were going," she grumbles to him irritated.
"Yes, you're right and I'm truly sorry." He bows down apologetically.
She stares at him for a moment with a thin line across her lips. She was never accustomed to someone bowing to her like this. Especially a man who may be older than her. She wasn't sure, he looked young.
Letting out a sigh she waves a hand in dismissal. "It's fine. Not like anyone was killed," She says, cooly.
Jungkook raises his head and nods to her with a strained smile. She notices the box he dropped was still on the floor and bends down to pick it up.
"Ah, you don't have to do that," Jungkook says and swiftly bends down as well.
"It's fine," she states while picking up the scattered books.
Jungkook picked up a few off the ground and stands up. He felt his cheeks heat up for he was embarrassed that a stranger had to clean up after him even though the accident was his fault.
She stands up with him while holding the box, she stares at his eyes and notices they were the color of coffee. She notices that he cocked his head in question and she quickly glances to the open apartment door to see boxes littered there as well.
"So, you're moving in?" She inquires.
Jungkook follows her gaze and chuckles sheepishly. "Yeah. Do you live in the building?" He changes the subject hastily desperate to get rid of this awkward tension. He could feel his hands start to sweat.
She shakes her head in denial, "No but my friend's brother does." She gestures her chin to the hallway behind him.
"He lives down there."
Jungkook nods and flicks his hair to the side to push away his long black locks out of his eyes.
"Well, I must get back to putting the boxes into the apartment." He gestures for the box still in the woman's hands and she hands it over.
"Sorry for bumping into you again," He apologizes once more.
"No worries," She smiles. "I'm tough."
He chuckles with a smile and makes his way to his apartment. "See you around then."
She watches him walk into the apartment while closing the door behind. With a shrug, she hops over the boxes that were still scattered in the hallway and walk down the hall.
She didn't fail to notice the awkwardness in his eyes or the desperation to get out of the situation. He just bumped into her, it wasn't a big of a deal. It wasn't like they'll meet again in the future.
Jungkook sighs heavily though his nose before entering the living room. "Took you that long to get a box of books?" Yoongi questions sarcastically.
Jungkook places it on the couch and shrugs. "I ran into someone."
"Oh? Who was it?" Jin asks as he takes a sip from a soda can.
"Just some woman," Jungkook answers. "I hit her with a box."
Everyone now has their attention upon him. They blinked twice trying to process his words. Jungkook looks at all of them wondering what was the problem.
"Were you mad or something?" Hoseok asks with wide eyes.
Jungkook looks at him with a brow raised. "No. . . Why would I be?"
"Because you hit an innocent woman!" Taehyung declares in shock. "What, was she rude or something?"
Jungkook quickly shakes his head in defiance. "What? No, it was an accident, that's all!" Jungkook clarifies while waving his hands in front of him.
"I ran into her."
A loud oh was made in unison by all the guys. Now that made more sense. Jungkook rolls his eyes at them, why would they think he would do such a thing?
"Well, you were out there for a long time," Yoongi points out dismissing the situation.
Jungkook gives him a simple shrug and situates himself on the floor next to Mi-Hi. She notices and crawls on to his lap with a smile. He gives her a goofy face making her laugh, he laughs along and kisses the top of her head.
"So, when are you starting your new job?" Namjoon asks.
"Tomorrow," Jungkook answers.
"Are you serious?" Jimin gapes.
Jungkook looks up at him and raises a brow. "What?"
"You don't have time to unpack and get situated!" He exclaims.
"It's no big deal," Jungkook shrugs. "I'll just unpack when I get home."
"But still," Jimin crosses his arms and grumbles to himself. He couldn't see why the company would give him a few days to get situated before starting work.
They're either busy or they care about making the dough. Either way, it was ridiculous. Jungkook notices how annoyed Jimin was and sighs.
"Look, it's okay, really," he affirms. "It's normal in the business world. Right, Taehyung?"
He glances at the said man for backup. Taehyung blinks out of his daze and blankly stares at him.
"What?"
Jungkook groans, good-for-nothing.
"Okay, if it is normal," Jimin does air quotes above his head. "Then what's going to happen to Mi-Hi? I can take a few days off and watch her."
"Yeah!" Mi-Hi agrees excitedly and looks up at her dad. "Can Uncle Jimin play with me tomorrow?" She asks hopefully.
Jungkook sighs with a frown and shakes his head. "I'm sorry, sweetie, but you're going to daycare tomorrow."
"Daycare?!" Jimin screeches. "She's better off with me!"
"Aww, please, daddy?" Mi-Hi whines. "I don't want to go!"
"Yeah, she doesn't want to--"
Jungkook shoots him a dark glare making him quickly shut his mouth. He was done having Jimin influence Mi-Hi in a negative way. He was still upset that he taught her the word no when she was eleven months.
He looks down at Mi-Hi who glares up at him with a pout and arms crossed. He sighs calmly, "Mi-Hi, you're going to daycare tomorrow."
"But--"
"No, buts." He interrupts. "If I say no then that means no."
He holds her glare for a moment longer before she gives in with a humph and turns away. He shakes his head before glaring at Jimin who stiffens under his stare.
"Quit influencing her," He says firmly.
Jimin crosses his arms with a pout and humphs as well. He was just trying to be a cool uncle. He looks away from Jungkook while sticking his chin in the air.
"Fine."

"C'mon, Mi-Hi!" Jungkook shouts from the bathroom. "We're running late!"
Jungkook only had an hour to take Mi-Hi to daycare and arrive at work at a decent time. He couldn't afford to be late on the first day.
He buttons the last button of his black shirt when Mi-Hi enters the bathroom wearing her favorite pink dress.
"Daddy, can you do my hair?" She asks while showing him a brush.
With a sigh, Jungkook nods and places her atop the counter. He gently brushes through her brown locks while Mi-Hi smiles happily.
"Pigtails!" She declares making Jungkook chuckle lightly.
"As you wish."
He grabs two hair ties placing one between his lips while he ties the other one into her hair. When he places the last one in her hair Mi-Hi beams in the mirror in delight.
"Thank you!" She hops off the counter and stands in front of Jungkook. "I'm ready."
Jungkook smiles, she was surprisingly excited to go despite her refusal yesterday. But Jungkook pushes that thought to the side and takes her by the hand before grabbing her bag.
They walk out of the apartment and the building where Jungkook's car awaited them. Quickly he straps Mi-Hi into her seat before getting into the driver's seat.
When he begins to drive he glances in the rearview mirror. Mi-Hi's expression became a complete opposite than it was a few minutes ago.
Her small lips were formed into a frown while her perfectly shaped eyebrows became knitted together. Her eyes were trained on the passing buildings but seemed unfocused.
Jungkook knew she wasn't excited to go to daycare, this was going to be her first time. He could understand her uneasiness because he felt the same.
He was worried that she wouldn't fit in or no one would want to talk to her or she'll be scared to death for being somewhere new. But what he was most worried about was the fact that he wasn't going to be with her.
He felt horrible for leaving her all alone but he had to. He focuses back on the road and takes a right.
"Sweetie, I know this will your be the first time you'll be in daycare but I promise, it will be fun," He assures.
"But I'm scared," She mumbles. "There's going to be new people."
"I know but you'll make new friends. I'm sure they'll be excited to meet you." He glances back at the rearview mirror and catches his daughter's gaze.
He gives her a goofy smile, "You're my daughter after all." A faint smile appears on Mi-Hi's lips, her eyes becoming lighter.
"You're not the one going, daddy." She reminds.
Jungkook shrugs, "Yeah but once they see you're amazingly handsome, cool dad drop you off they'll immediately want to be your friend."
He was able to bring out a small laugh from her causing him to smile in relief, at least she was at ease now.
They finally arrived at the daycare and Jungkook parks the car in front of the building. He could feel the air being caught in his throat, he sucks in a sharp breath.
"We're here," he announces loudly with a half-smile. Mi-Hi nods silently with her small heart beating rapidly in her chest.
She didn't want this, going to daycare seemed like a nightmare. Being with new kids at an unknown place without her dad scared her. She wished he would take her to his new job. She sees a woman approach the car and she holds in her breath.
The door suddenly opens allowing Mi-Hi to hear the faint laughs and shouts of the kids being escorted inside.
"Hello, I'm Ms. Yu and I am one of the workers here." She grins kindly.
She was an old lady who wore a long jean skirt and white blouse. Her greying hair was down past her shoulders with a sweet smile upon her wrinkled face. She stood by with her hands clasped together in front of her in a formal manner.
"Hello," Jungkook greets. "I'm Jeon Jungkook, Mi-Hi's father."
"Oh, you're the one who called us yesterday." Ms. Yu realizes. "Well, nice to meet you! I promise we'll take care of her the best we can."
Jungkook nods gratefully but grips the steering wheel. "Thank you."
She smiles back before turning back to Mi-Hi who looks away nervously. "Hello, Mi-Hi." She greets. "Are you ready to come inside?"
Immediately she answers with a shake of her head. "No."
"But, I have a cubby with your name on it," Ms. Yu insists. "I also have toys and dresses you can dress up in. What do you say?"
Now, that did sound intriguing to Mi-Hi. She did want to see her cubby and maybe play with the toys Ms. Yu claimed she has. Warily she glances up at Jungkook who gave her a nod with an encouraging smile.
"You'll have fun," he promises and at that moment Mi-Hi believed him. When has her dad lied to her before?
"Okay," she mumbles hesitantly. Ms. Yu brightens in glee and unstraps Mi-Hi from her booster seat. Before Mi-Hi hopped out the car she leans to the front and pecks her father's cheek.
"I love you."
Jungkook smiles lightly but it quickly disappears when the car door was shut. He watches with worried eyes as his daughter placed her small hand in Ms. Yu's, her bag on her back. He stayed parked until he watched Mi-Hi walk into the building safely.
Jungkook wanted nothing more than spending the day with Mi-Hi in the daycare. He wanted to make sure she would truly be okay, he didn't want to just trust Ms. Yu's words. He wants to be with her, leaving her with strangers made him worry sick.
Sure, he could've taken up on Jimin's offer but that man had a job as a police officer. He knew how busy he got.
With a heavy sigh, Jungkook starts up his car. Deep down he knows this was a good thing, now Mi-Hi can hang out with other kids instead of her aging father. She needs to make friends and this was the way to do it.
He glances one last time at the daycare with a small frown forming on his lips.
"Love you too," He whispers to himself.
He presses lightly on the accelerator and drives away without looking back.
