As one like Yuna, it is common to be rushing through the streets of the city. No one found it odd to see a woman wearing a mini-skirt and white long-sleeve crop top, run like a madman was right behind them. Oh, how she forgot the time it was.
She should've told her boss to shorten the photo shooting but, seeing how there were many clothes to model in, she couldn't resist the temptation to wear them all. Now she's paying the consequences.
"I hope they're not out yet," she mutters to herself when she turns the corner.
Up in the distance was an average size house. It was on the outskirts of the downtown district of Seoul, leaving the area around it flat and full of trees. However, the main road was just in front of the building and Yuna has to figure out how to quickly cross.
She sees many children either piling into small baby blue vans or waiting outside the building with the caretakers watching them. She curses under her breath for coming here quite late. With a hasty gaze, she scans the main road before crossing. When Yuna is close to the daycare she slows into a walk and releases a deep sigh.
"Stupid, Jake," she grumbles. "If I didn't know this last second I wouldn't have arrived here as a sweaty mess."
She knew her hair was now a wild mess due to her feverish running with sweat coated her forehead. Her outfit wasn't made for running and she was surprised when the skirt didn't rip. Once she reaches the group of kids she starts to look for that familiar set of twins.
But, the more she looked and the more she walked through the crowd, the kid started to look the same. Yuna crosses her arms when comes to a stop and pouts. Maybe she could go ask a caretaker. . .
"Auntie Yun Yun!"
Yuna blinks at the familiar name and whirls around. She sees two small children hand-in-hand, runs towards her with bright smiles. She crouches down with a wide grin upon her lips.
They jump into her arms, almost tackling her to the ground. Yuna releases a laugh while holding them tightly.
"What are you doing here?" The little girl asks when she pulls away.
"Surprise!" Yuna exclaims while doing the jazz hands. "I came to pick you up today!"
The little boy stares at her with wide eyes before smiling like a goof.
"Yay!" He cheers before tackling Yuna into another hug. "I missed you, Auntie!"
Yuna chuckles before petting his head. "It's only been two weeks, sweetie."
"Yeah! And that's forever, Auntie!" Kim pouts while crossing her arms. Asong pulls away gives her a big nod.
"Auntie, we were bored at home! We wanted to play those games again!"
Yuna's smile widens, her heart fluttering at the adorable little boy. She admits, she missed the twins, it seemed her days went by longer without them.
"Well, you won't be bored anymore! Today, you get to stay with me!"
The kids cheered loudly and jumped up and down like they scored a goal. Yuna couldn't help but laugh at the sight before standing.
"C'mon, let's surprise, Aunt Sejunie, at home." She says as she offers her hands to them. They reach out to take them but quickly stop midway.
"Oh no!" Kim shouts with her eyes wide. "I forgot something!"
Yuna cocks her head. "Forget what, honey?"
Kim shakes her head, "I'll be right back!" She twists her heel and runs back into the building. Asong dramatically places his hands on his hips before tutting like his mother.
"I'll go with her. She'll get into trouble without me there."
Yuna chuckles at his silliness and gestures her hand. "Go on then, but hurry, okay?"
"Yes, Auntie Yun Yun!" Asong gives her a smile before racing after his sister. Yuna was now left alone and gazes around her. The crowd of children had decreased immensely leaving only just a few around their caretakers.
However, her eyes landed on one child. A little girl was crouched on the concrete with her bag over her back. Her mid-length hair was up in a ponytail but, her face seemed to be covered with her small fists.
Curious, Yuna makes her way to the young one. As she came closer her ears were greeted with the soft sounds of sniffles and whimpers. Her heart aches at the sound and silently she crouches in front of her.
"Are you okay?" She asks softly with a small frown.
Hesitantly, the girl lowers her fists. She locks eyes with the woman, noticing how stunning her green eyes were. Her sniffles stop for a moment, she was in awe at the woman's beauty. It was like she was facing a princess.
"What's wrong?" The woman asks with concern layering her voice. The little girl pushes her bottom lip into a frown.
"I-I'm not supposed to talk to strangers," she murmurs before looking down at the ground. "You may hurt me."
Yuna shakes her head, "I'll never do such a thing. I only came by to see if I can cheer you up."
The little girl slowly looks up but doesn't speak. Yuna smiles patiently and nods. "I'm sad that you're crying."
"Why?"
"Because, a little princess like you should be smiling," Yuna replies.
The girl was taken aback, her eyes glistening at her words. But it slowly diminishes when she remembers why she had tears.
"I don't want to," she mutters with a pout. "I'm upset."
"Why?" Yuna asks curiously. "Did you lose something? Do you need help finding it?"
Yuna makes a dramatic action to look left and right with her hand over her forehead. The girl merely shakes her head before rubbing her nose.
"No, I'm waiting for someone."
Yuna stops moving and glances at the girl. She understands why the girl was upset. Her parents were late to pick her up. Seeing her saddened form, Yuna had no desire to leaving here until her parents came.
"You're just like me," she murmurs to the child. The girl looks at her quizzically, a little relieved to have someone feel the same.
"Really?"
Yuna nods with a small smile. "I'm waiting for some people too. Do you want to wait together?"
The girl thinks for a moment, giving a thoughtful frown as well. A strong sense of Deja vu sprang in Yuna's mind. Her frown looked oddly familiar but, she pushes that thought way when a smile finally came to the child's lips.
"Okay," she answers. Yuna smiles and wipes away a tear.
"I'm Yuna, by the way," she says. "But you can call me Yun Yun if you like."
The girl giggles softly giving Yuna a warm feeling. "That's a funny name," she smiles. "I like Yun Yun."
Her eyes brighten when she locks eyes with Yuna, her smile slowly widening.
"My name's Mihi," she informs.
"Mihi," Yuna repeats with a soft smile. "That's a pretty name."
"Thank you," Mihi beams. "My daddy gave it to me. He said it became mine when I was born."
Yuna nods in the utter curiosity of this child. It was intriguing to see how children can quickly change emotions at the snap of a finger.
"Your daddy, huh? Is he the one you're waiting for?"
Mihi's smiles lessen and she releases a dramatic sigh. "He's always late, Yun Yun! It makes me mad when he tells me he'll be here when I get out but isn't!"
Yuna sighs and pats her head softly. "I'm sure he's has a good reason."
"I don't know, but I want to go home! I want to watch my favorite movie," Mihi whines loudly.
Yuna shakes her head, she wasn't sure if she would wait with her a little longer or get one of the caretakers. Surely they have his number.
"Mihi!"
Both Yuna and Mihi's head shot up at the voice. Yuna watches Mihi look over her shoulder with a bright grin slowly coming to her face.
"Daddy!" She leaps to her feet before racing past Yuna. She stands as well and turns to watch Mihi leap into a man's arms.
Her eyes roam from the child up to the man's face. A stifled gasp escapes her lips when she sees the familiar long hair, rosy lips, and doe eyes. It couldn't be him, maybe she became delusional after the hardcore run she endured.
She must be dehydrated, that's all. He wasn't Jungkook. But when she listens to his apology to Mihi she knew it was him.
She swallows thickly while balling her hands into fists. So much for not seeing each other again.
"We'll watch two movies and eat your favorite dinner, okay? Will that cheer you up?" She listens Jungkook says with a frown. Mihi thinks for a minute before smiling hopefully.
"Can I not go to bed at bedtime?"
"Now, you're pushing it, sweetheart," Jungkook chuckles before kissing her cheek. He looks away from her and locks eyes with Yuna.
His smile became strained, his eyes revealing something Yuna couldn't understand. Mihi takes notices of the awful silence laid between them, instantly thinking it's her fault.
"Oh, I'm sorry, daddy!" She exclaims as she struggles out of his grip. "I know you told me not to talk to strangers but Yun Yun was nice to me."
Jungkook raises a brow at his daughter. "Yun Yun?"
Mihi nods happily. "You can call her Yuna but Yun Yun is cuter!"
She turns to the said woman and smiles brightly. "This is my daddy!" She beams. "His name is. . .well, daddy."
Yuna laughs awkwardly, cringing at the idea of calling him that in public. She looks back at Jungkook and strains a smile. God, how furious he looks now.
She watches Jungkook clear his throat.
"Mihi."
"Yes?" Said girl turns to her father.
"You remember what my car looks like, right?" She nods mutely with her smile still evident. "Well, it's right behind me and can you get in it, please? We'll leave once I finish talking to. . .Yun Yun."
Mihi nods and waves at Yuna. "Bye, Yun Yun!"
Yuna silently waves and watches her skip to the car. When they both her a clock of the door closing both smiles vanish.
"Don't call me that," Yuna spits with a look.
"Oh, please, it was dreadful just hearing it come out of my mouth." Jungkook scoffs. "What kind of nickname is that anyway? But more importantly, why are you stalking me?"
Yuna gasps, her dignity taking the hit. How could he possibly conclude? It was absurd!
"Why would you think that?" She demands.
"Oh, I don't know, you talked to my daughter and know what daycare I take her to," he replies sarcastically. "Is hard to follow up on, not seeing each other again?"
"Damn, where did that shy, nervous attitude go?" Yuna questions with a look. "I'm here for my own business if you must know."
Jungkook rolls his eyes while crossing his arms. Like he'll believe that. This woman was nothing but obsessed with him less than twenty-four hours ago!
"But now that I think about it. . ." Yuna gasps in horror, her eyes widening with the puzzle pieces in her head click together.
"You were absorbed into your phone yesterday and you were in a rush to get rid of me." Jungkook blinks with a raised brow.
"And?"
"And you have a daughter as well so that can only mean one thing. . ." Her face becomes pale while she points a finger at the man.
"You're married!"
"What?!" Jungkook exclaims in shock.
"It makes sense! You tried to cheat on your wife yesterday but, instantly regretted it!" Yuna concludes before tutting. "I never met a man who backed out on cheating though."
"I was not cheating!" Jungkook shouts defensively. His cheeks begin to flare while his eyes blaze in irritation.
"I would never!"
"Don't try hiding it, Jungkook," Yuna sighs while waving her hand. "I'm honored actually. You picked someone like me to be your mistress."
She gives him a playful wink, her anger slowly draining. Now she was intrigued by this double life Jungkook tried to live. A loud groan escapes the man's mouth as he shakes his head.
"You're not my mistress! I'm not married!!"
His sudden words drop like a bomb over the two. He curses in regret while the other stares in utter confusion.
Not married?
Those words swirl inside Yuna's head like a never-ending vortex. Her eyes widen as she stares at Jungkook. His face paling at the sight of her vibrant emerald eyes, his heart quickens its pace.
"Wait--you're not married??" Yuna questions with a confused gaze. Jungkook bites his lip before opening his mouth but, someone's shout interrupts him.
"Auntie! We're back!"
Yuna turns to see both Asong and Kim run to her before looking back at Jungkook. So many questions she has and the answers she wants. Nothing made sense, his words ringing like a bell in her head.
"Look, I need to go," he says hastily.
Without a goodbye, he turns to his car and rushes into it. Yuna couldn't ask him to stop, her speechlessness getting the best of her. She watches the car speed away, she barely notices the small tugs at her hands.
"Let's go now, Auntie!" Kim proclaims. "I have my lunchbox now."
Coming back to her senses Yuna looks at the twins before nodding mutely.
"Alright, let's go." She walks away with them as she barely listens to them speak. All she could think about was what Jungkook said.
Was he a single father?
