CHAPTER 28

Revelations

Sanya's POV:

In that moment, surrounded by the rain and the quiet of the night, I feel as if I have done a great job by finally admitting to all my feelings. The weight of unspoken words has lifted, and for a brief second, hope glimmers in the corners of my heart.

"Vansh, I...I really like you." I say, my voice barely rising above the patter of the rain. I pour out my feelings, the truth that's been tangled in my chest for so long. My heart races, and I search his eyes for any hint of reciprocation towards my words.

But then, the air shifts. Vansh's expression hardens, and my heart sinks. Somehow, I can interpret the answer. "Sanya," he says, his tone cold and detached, "I don't feel anything for you. I'm sorry, but that's just not how it is."

I can feel something breaking inside my chest. I felt the sound of my own heartbreak reverberating in my mind.

"I don't want to sound rude," He says running his hand through his damp hair. "but I can't say it in some other way. I respect your feelings."

"Then, why did you...?" she stammered, recalling the moments they had.

"Did what? Hired you? I did that because Riddhima asked me to. She said not to tell you, but now since everything has reached to this point. I have to." His gaze drifted away, revealing a depth of discomfort. The revelation hits me like a slap; Riddhima Di? She asked him to give me the job. Not because he saw my hard-work. Oh my god. "And as I said earlier, I am grateful for how to took care of me. But I thought that was just because...you wanted to."

"Oh..." was all I could manage to say, feeling utterly betrayed. If even my family could lie to me, who could I trust?

"I have a question though." He says looking at me keenly with those dark black eyes. I crossed my arms defensively, heart heavy, and nodded. "Do you know anything about my past life?"

"Your past?" I ask now feeling a strange sense of awkwardness in having this conversation with him.

"You don't then." He says in a tone of questioning but it's a statement. He is sure. But about what? We are interrupted by a polite voice.

"Boss." I turn to look at a man, blue checkered shirt and black jeans, holding a file in his left hand. Just like us even he is soaked due to rain.

"I should leave now." I say to Vansh and turn to leave, when a hand holds my arm and I turn to look at Vansh. "What?"

"Stay, he is here to tell us about the traitor of my company." I hear his words.

"I don't think I have anything to do with your companies matter now, since I am on paid leave. Right, sir." I say emphasizing the word 'sir' and throwing back his words. I leave from his sight.

Not wanting to miss the name of the man, who tried to destroy Vansh's company. I stay hidden behind his car. It could be anyone-maybe one whom I trusted all along these weeks.

"So, who is it?" I hear him ask the same man.

"Your secretary boss, Rohit." He says and passes him the file. Vansh doesn't open it, but I can see even he is shocked. Rohit, I can't believe this. Vansh trusted him all along. "He gave the information to your enemy."

"And may I have the honor in knowing, who is my said enemy?" I hear him ask as his back straightens.

"Rehaan Singh Rajput." I don't why but this information makes me take a step back.

"So he knows." I hear Vansh's calm voice as the name of my brother-in-law echoes in my ears. What does Rehaan knows? To do this?

I can hear the man ask the same question, but its a muffled voice as I run away from the place. I don't look back or even dare to glance at Vansh.

Why would Rehaan do all this? Why would Riddhima call Vansh and ask him to hire me? Why did Vansh even agree to it? Why did he looked so calm on hearing Rehaan-his best friend-betrayed him?

I have so many unanswered questions but no one to answer. With each step taken I don't look how I reach the location where my car is parked .

'I don't feel anything for you. I'm sorry, but that's just not how it is.' Vansh's voice echoes in my ears. Right now I feel like confessing my feelings to Vansh was a mistake. I should have kept all that inside my heart. Then nothing of this would have happened.

"I want answers." Getting behind the wheels, I strengthen my resolve to seek answers from Rehaan and Riddhima. But I put a hold on my questions, until, I reach my destination.

The rain and the serene calmness of the night, makes me ask myself that if by confessing did I opened the door to heartbreak and confusion?

Vansh's POV:

Entering my new apartment, I look around at everything. Tomorrow I will be leaving for Mumbai. Leaving all this behind with my past.

Somehow, I thought Rehaan never knew about this. That Riddhima never told him about this. But she proved me wrong. But after all he is her husband someday or another he was going to know about my deeds. Moreover, Riddhima has moved on so far in this life, that even if anything happens she would never look back. She trusts him, more than she ever trusted me.

But none of this matters, since I did so bad to them. I am the culprit, but Rehaan's acts could have hampered my company and even my family.

Taking out my phone, I dial my said ex-best friend and current enemy, after a few rings, I hear a shuffle followed by a curt, "What?"

"Had you corrupted my secretary to spy on my business?" I ask even though I know the answer.

"Yes." He says nonchalantly as if its a mere act of kindness.

"Do you realize how your actions are affecting my company—" I start, but he interrupts.

"Are you aware how your actions have impacted my wife's life?" He growls and I look around as I don't know why but his words makes me feel guilty. "You are the reason of her traumas, you killed my child. Mr. Vansh Raisinghania, the thing that I did to your company was nothing. I'm still tempted to kill you, but its my wife's promise that's keeping me put. Or you would have been long dead."

I am about to reply when I hear a loud voice in the background of his call, and he suddenly disconnects the call.

He was right. I have no right to question him since I did worst to his wife. I deserved it but I am not letting it affect my family.

Moving to the kitchen, I open the refrigerator. It's completely stocked. Even when Sanya didn't knew a single thing about cooking for the past 5 days, she made sure that everything was stocked. Taking out a water bottle, I unscrew the cap and pour myself a glass of water.

'But don't go anywhere near that girl.' Riddhima's words echoes inside my head. That rudeness was important. Sanya, she likes me and now that's going to be turned into hatred when she will learn about the truth from them. Just one more person who hates me.

Sanya's POV:

Rehaan and Riddhima descends the stairs as soon as I call there name. I am aware no one is home. Rehaan's mom went to some party with Chauhan's, so its just three of us and guards outside.

"Sanya?" Riddhima comes down towards me, looking concerned. "What's wrong?"

"Di..." I say for a moment forgetting everything that I heard. Why would they do that? "I have to ask something."

"About what?" She says glancing at Rehaan.

"About Vansh." I turn to look at my brother-in-law, who clenches his jaw as soon as I say the name. "From you, Rehaan."

"I have nothing to answer." He says and goes to hold Riddhima's hands.

"Yes, you have to. Did you ask Rohit to hand over the intel of Vansh's company to you?" Of course Riddhima didn't knew about it, the shock is visible.

"Rehaan, did you?" She asks giving him full attention.

"Yes. I did." No doubt he won't lie to her.

"And di, did you ask Vansh to hire me?" I ask from my sister and then I get her complete attention. "Did you?"

No answer means yes. They both betrayed me. They both lied to me. I can't even fathom these many heartbreaks in a day.

"Why di? Didn't I say that I don't want my family's involvement in my career?" Rehaan looks at me with anger filled eyes.

"Really? So now you will blame us for thinking the best of you?" Rehaan says in a calm tone, but I can feel the anger in his voice.

"No Rehaan, No. Don't justify your actions by putting the blame on me. You betrayed your best friend." I say moving closer to him. "And di, you lied to your own sister."

"Sanya?" Riddhima's calm voice reach my ears but it's Rehaan's loud voice that gets my attention.

"She didn't lied to you." he says and looks at me.

"She did. I told her that I don't want anyone's favors." I say back to him.

"I didn't do it as a favor." Riddhima says pulling me to look at her.

"Di, you did what you did, I don't want to put your child in danger, but Rehaan you, how could you do that to Vansh?" I say and look as he turns away. "He is your best friend."

"He is not. He is not my best friend. He is a bastard. A tormentor." I can feel a drop a tear land on my hand, Why is he saying that? "Sanya, I don't get this. Why are you so concerned about him?"

"Because I love him. And because he doesn't, and after this action of yours, he'll hate me too." The words register to me after its already out. I said that. Oh my god, I just confessed that in front of them.

Rehaan runs his hand through his slight damp hair and Riddhima looks at me. I don't even get to register the hand coming near my cheeks, but it do feel the warmth radiating from the slap. Turning I look at my sister, who slapped me.

"Sanya?" Her voice is throaty.

"Didn't I told you Riddhima, that this will happen?" Rehaan says turning her towards him. "Didn't I told you to let me tell everyone about him?"

"I didn't because I trusted her." Riddhima is still looking at him with hopeless eyes, what are they talking about? "How could you do that?"

"Do what? And what you didn't told me about Vansh?" I say and look at Rehaan. Only he can tell me. 'Do you know anything about my past life?' I recall his words. "His past? What is his past?"

"So the bastard already told you." Rehaan pulls me towards him and away from Riddhima, who is still shocked. "So you want to know the truth. Then lets do it."

"Why are you keeping so much suspense? Just say it." I say to him.

"Did you remember that Riddhima was pregnant when she came back to the Chauhan's?" I shake my head. "Of course not, because we wanted to keep you away from the dark side of our past. Did you knew that was biologically Vansh's child?"

I can feel my already broken heart shatter into million pieces. My sister had a child with the man I love. "What? How?"

I can just hear his words as he tells me everything about Riddhima and Vansh's past. It's just his grip on my arm that's keeping me put otherwise I would have fallen deep into the pain of my heartache.

"Rehaan, stop it." I hear Riddhima's voice.

"No. Don't. I want to hear. What happened after he announced someone else as his wife?" I can hear my voice but nothing is visible except for my sister's traumatized past.

''Riddhima left them and found that she was pregnant. After a while, we found her. Do you that it was Vansh who killed his own child?" I do. I fall so hard on my knees, that I am sure it will be bruised by the morning. But nothing register.

"Sanya...Look at us. Please." On hearing Riddhima's soft voice as she cups my cheeks, I turn to look at her. "Don't worry Sanya. We won't let anything happen to you."

"How can I not? I...I fell in love with the man who is reason of your trauma, who killed your child?" My cheeks are wet from the tears.

Rehaan pulls me back on my feet and embraces me in a hug. Patting my back, he tries to soothe me. "Don't feel bad about it. The bastard manipulated you. I am going to hurt him for that."

No he didn't. I don't say it but I know Vansh never manipulated me. It was me who fell in love with me. Vansh always kept me at an arm's distance it was me who fell for him, during our first meet. May be he was my first love. The man who is nothing more than a monster is my first love. Feels like committing a sin.

I can't stop the tears, I can't. It wasn't anyone who betrayed me. They did what they did. It was me who got stuck in the middle of all these. Why did I even came back here? Just why?

I don't register when the tears lead me to weakness. But I do register Rehaan picking me up and helping me on the bed. With the broken heart and no hope of even falling in love. I fall asleep.

Riddhima's POV:

Lying on Rehaan's chest, I don't keep all those thoughts away.

"It's all because of me. If I had told her everything before, I would not have had to see this day." I say to Rehaan, who tightens his hold on my back.

"Stop blaming yourself, baby. It was all him." He says and makes me look at him. "Don't do that to yourself and to our baby. Don't make him sad too. After all he has a smart father."

I chuckle at his words and again holds him. Sanya is sleeping peacefully in her room. I didn't left until she slept. She was so heartbroken. I am not going to forgive Vansh for doing this to her. I won't ever.

"Go back to sleep and with no bad thoughts." I hear his words and feel him drop a kiss on my forehead.

"Did you file a case against him?" He just nods and holds me more closer as much is possible with the bump.

"And don't say that's bad. You said not to hurt him and I agreed. But I won't let him have a peaceful life. And after how he manipulated our Sanya, no way." He says and switches off.

Abandoning the bad thoughts and with the hope of new morning. I drift into a deep slumber.
