"First of all, tell me your account of what happened on the roof."

Those were the assassin's first words.

They had arranged themselves in a circle, facing opposite each other, pictures of all the original students of the killing game, those that were dead having their own distinct red crosses over their faces. Together they had made the decision to work solely in Shuichi's dorm room, that being the only place in the entire academy guaranteed not to have any cameras.

Although that resulted in leaving Shuichi alone.. something neither of them were extremely happy with.. however, Kokichi had organised a backup plan, and it was actually remarkably clever, although Maki would never admit it, she would never give Kokichi the satisfaction of her verification.

The plan went as followed:

Monomi would be the one to look after Shuichi. This was perfect, because no other students except from Shuichi himself and Kokichi could even see the rabbit, causing whoever might enter the room not to be suspicious. If something did happen, Monomi would call out for the purple haired liar and they would both run to the hospital room and interrogate whoever it was.. dealing with them appropriately.

Kokichi narrowed his eyes. Although they had a verbal agreement not to lie or hide any important details from each other.. it seemed to him that Maki was back to accusing him.

But he didn't have any time to cause another fight.

He crossed his arms and started to talk, not having realised how difficult this was really going to be. "I went up to the roof and I called out for him.. and I saw him clinging onto the metal bars, separating the roof from the.. edge. I told him to y'know, get away from the edge because he was.. he was just so close to it.. nishi.."

Maki decided not to say anything and instead, just let Kokichi finish his side of things.

"He shook his head and didn't even bother to turn around to face me, I know, rude right? Shu.. he put one of his feet onto the bars and I screamed like a kid for him not to do it. I'm not stupid, I thought I knew what he was doing, but it just seemed so outta character for him, maybe he was getting a closer look.. but he.. he.." He began to shake, starting to break down once again, having to go over it was even worse than seeing it originally.. the vivid memories that were served with every word.. "..He shouted out to me to stay where I was because I said I'd come with him.. he was shouting at me, he'd never done that before.. he looked so scared, so angry.. so terrified..I wanted to come with him, I wanted to jump with him.. W-Why wouldn't he let me?! Why would he leave me all alone?! Why.. W-WHY WOULD HE DO THAT? I CAN'T GO ON WITHOUT H.." Kokichi slapped a hand to his mouth and screamed into it, forcing himself to shut up, shut up, shut up!

The assassin just stared at him with wide eyes, having just listened to the other's meltdown. Kokichi's eyes quickly locked with hers, before he broke it off, jumping onto his feet, storming towards the door, shooting her one last look before reaching for the doorknob, "Then he fell and left me behind. You know how it went from there, work it out yourself!"

He began to open the door to storm out, when Maki gripped onto his wrist, pulling him back in, slamming the door. "I can't find the mastermind without you.. that's a fact. Go to the bathroom to get yourself together if you want."

Kokichi only stared at the floor until she let go of his arm and returned to the floor. The liar clenched his hands into fists and shifted into the bathroom, slamming the door behind him so hard that it shook on its hinges.

Evil_Tanaka did this piece of art and it is once again, absolutely fantastic. Seriously guys, I have no idea how I always get so much amazing art! So please, please follow them as well!
.........

The assassin didn't hear much from what Kokichi was doing in the bathroom; there was the occasional bundles of shouting and muffled screams.. but all she could do was drown it out and continue to mentally debate the mastermind on her own.. but after fifteen minutes, she started to feel concerned.

Kokichi was her only lead, her only help.. and if he had done something, it would completely fuck her over! At least, that's what she wanted to tell herself that she believed, realistically however, no.. she did care about him in a way. Before in the killing game, seeing someone break down was only a weakness. The people who cry and wail are always the easy targets. Yet now, her ideology had changed.

Kokichi Ouma, a liar by nature.. had managed to break down his walls and let someone in.. and love them with all his heart, only to lose them in a traumatising way; watching them fall off a building.. and then to find out that it was the mastermind and that he could have been the reason why.. no thanks to the assassin herself.

Whilst regaining a mask at all times.

With that, she could only give him her pity.. but he would never accept that. So she simply waited until the door opened.. and eventually, that moment finally came. Kokichi sat down on the floor, crossing his legs to get comfortable. His eyes were slightly red and puffy but it was completely obvious that he had attempted to conceal them.. by the way that his skin look agitated and rubbed away.

Maki decided not to comment on it, and instead simply continue to get information on the mastermind.. or start to collect the information at least. "I suppose it is only fair if I share my side with you."

Kokichi nodded, raising an eyebrow as if he was expecting her story instantly. Maki tutted, yet began to speak anyway. "As you know, I wasn't on the roof when he fell. I was standing beneath in the courtyard, just walking around waiting for the astronaut so that we could train as per our nightly agreement. I saw him standing at the bars, then I saw him stepping over. I couldn't see his face very clearly, but I'm sure that he was distressed and was also crying. When he fell, he started flailing his limbs around, like he was desperately attempting to grab onto something.. but then there was a sound of him crashing to the ground.. a few moments after a body discovery announcement rang out and.. you know it from there." She paused before speaking once again, "But.. for a body discovery announcement, three people have to see the body. That would be me, you, and someone else. My best gues-"

"The mastermind. They killed him because they found out about his plans to stop the killing, my letter said that kinda obviously, don't know about yours though." Kokichi, for one of the first times ever, spoke clearly and coldly, making sure to get his point across, "Who's the mastermind, what'd you think?"

"Someone who is liked by everyone, but stays roughly in the shadows. My gut is telling me that they are either extremely outgoing, or behind the scenes. I think that that would have to come across as someone trusting or compassionate, so they might bring up Shuichi's death.. wanting to seem like they're there for you, you understand?"

"I'm not an idiot Maki, but don't worry nishishi~ I won't do anything stupid." That was ab easy lie. He had to kill the mastermind no matter the risk, to get his sweet, bitter revenge.

*bing bong*

"A body has been discovered! Please everyone gather in the male bathroom on the first floor!"

Kokichi's heart skipped a beat before he remembered that the one for Korekiyo hadn't rung out yet. He simply turned to Maki and indicated towards the door, faking another 'nishishi' as she stood up and started to stride towards the exit.

It was time to play the role of a lying detective.
