To say that Shuichi felt his pulse rate accelerate when the trial doors opened be an understatement. He could feel his heart thumping in his chest much, much quicker than it should of been.

He knew that he needed to get a hold of himself. He knew that he needed to find Himiko's murderer and he knew that everyone would be relaying on his talent as the Ultimate Detective.

Everyone else started to vacate the lift, filling into the trial grounds. Kokichi walked forward, their hands coming apart, leaving Shuichi with a rush of emptiness rushing through his body. But this, this is what finally made him step forward.

He had a murder to solve after all.

......................................................................................................................

Just saying, please make your guesses of who the murderer is going to be here. I really want to see what you put. Haha.. also, I'm sorry for if this trial is crap.. I tried my best so I hope it's alright.

......................................................................................................................

Shuichi made his way towards his podium then stepped behind it, gripping the the wooden top with both hands. He buried his doubts and switched his detective persona on, completely getting rid of the emotional side of things. Even if it was Kaito, Kirumi or even Maki, he had to solve it.

He glanced around the room, making eye contact and scanning the faces of each and every student. In this moment, they were not his friends. They were suspects.

"Welcome! You've all hopefully arrived once again!" The mascot bear guzzled, breaking the silence.

But Shuichi didn't give the bear any attention, he just kept scanning faces, looking for any type of fear or stress. So far, no one had cracked.. but the trial hadn't even started.

The trial room fell silent, no one wanting to start.

But after a few minutes of painful silence, it was Kokichi who started talking. "Aww, this trial isn't going to go anywhere if we don't accuse anyone! Well then, I think that it was Kiiboy over there."

The robot played right into Kokichi's hands and rebuked his argument, "No, as Himiko was murdered in the pool area, I couldn't of committed the act as I would of short-circuited. Water in my system would cause it to automatically shut down."

"Kekekeke, who said that she wasn't dead before she was placed into the pool? That is entirely possible so your excuse does not clear you of anything." Kiyo spoke, hissing through his mask.

Shuichi traced through his memories, he knew that something wasn't right with what Korekiyo had just stated. "Korekiyo, you've got that wrong, there was water on a specific place on the poolside, specificity on the left hand side of it."

"Water? The hell does that prove?" Ryoma questioned, a little bit more defensively than he should have.

"It shows that the culprit and Himiko may of fought or that she may of struggled, causing water to splash onto the poolside. Whatever it was, the culprit had to of been in the pool." Shuichi explained, Korekiyo letting out another creepy laugh.

"Oh, kekeke, that is my fault then, my dearest apologies.."

Based on what Shuichi already knew about Korekiyo, about the lengths he would go to to satisfy his sister, he was the prime suspect in the case so far.

"Wait a fuckin minute. That guy is so fucking creepy, what stopped him from killin her?" Miu interrupted, using her usual profanities.

"Yes! Only a degenerate male like him could of done this to poor little Himiko! Only he could of done an act this vile!" Tenko shouted across the room, making violent gestures.

"I did see Korekiyo heading towards the dorm rooms around half past eight in the evening. I was cleaning outside the dorm rooms at the time and I continued to clean around the lower level of the area and I did not see anyone exit." Kirumi insisted.

"So you see, I am not the one to blame for this beautifully tragic disgrace." Korekiyo hissed, probably smiling underneath his mask.

Shuichi ruled out Korekiyo then picked out another clue. "Gonta? You said that you took Himiko to her room, Correct?"

Gonta smiled largely before replying happily, "Yes! Gonta put her in her room then left."

Shuichi crossed his arms tightly across his chest. "Himiko was drugged using a drug called Suvorexant, this is normally given in the form of one single pill and is used to help people who are unable to get sleep in the evenings. This drug normally takes a few hours to activate but in my lab, when the bottle was found, it was near to entirely empty. Monokuma refills the cabinet  each day, meaning that that's the drug the victim used."

A few inaudible murmurs were heard until one loud voice broke the silence. "Annnnnnddd?"

"What?" Shuichi turned his attention to Kokichi who had just spoken. The smaller boy had a hand to cover his mouth as to stop himself from yawning. "Maaaaan this trial is boring, yeah, she was drugged, so what? The culprit isn't just going to confess based on that."

It took Shuichi a few moments to comprehend what Kokichi was attempting to do. Then he remembered. "If you want to expose a liar, you have to corner them psychologically."

Shuichi took a moment to consider how he should act in reply. If he wanted to catch the culprit out, he had to catch them in a lie.. he had to either make them feel secure that they would get away with it or to question them until they slipped up or made a mistake. They were both difficult scenarios as Shuichi had only narrowed down the suspects by three people. Korekiyo because he had Kirumi as a witness, Keebo because he would of shut down if he came into contact with the water and Kokichi because he wouldn't of had time to set up the murder because Shuichi could back up his alibi entirely.

He couldn't stall for much longer. "What is your aim with disrupting this trial Kokichi? You need to stop your attempts to make it 'more fun', unlike you, I actually want to live."

DanganMemesMeme drew this amazing trial scene, I really like the features on Kokichi's face, they really show the different personalities. Aww, they both look adorable! I can't choose a favourite! Soo, please follow them on Instagram (username is the same) and look at their stories and their art book which is on wattpad!

............................................................................................................................

Kokichi wasn't expecting this. He let his mask slip, just for a second, showing Shuichi how deep his words had cut before quickly reapplying it. "Awww.. did I make the Ultimate Detective angry? Well, that was not my intention my beloved, I just wanted to have a little fun!"

Shuichi faked frustration while he was internally screaming at Kokichi for calling him 'his beloved' in front of everyone. He just had to act irritated and insist with continuing the trial. "The murderer would of have to of had an opportunity to take the Suvorexant drug before 9:00pm, I wish to go over alibis for everyone."

And one by one, they all stated their alibis. Maki, Kaito, Tenko, Tsumugi, and Gonta were all in the dining hall for the entire time and had each other as a witness. Miu and Kiibo were in The Ultimate Inventors lab, supporting each other's alibis. Kirumi was cleaning the dorm area. Korekiyo, Ryoma and Angie were in their rooms and they were all seen by Kirumi.

Everyone had an alibi. No, no, no. There had to be something that he was missing.

"Kaito. Do you know who handed the drinks to everyone last night?"

Kaito shot to life. "Oh, Uhh. Let me think.." His face was if he had never had to think as hard as this ever before. "I think it was Gonta and Kiibo.. oh and Himiko got her glass last."

"Aw! Kaito, that must of taken all of your brain muscles to work out, I thought you were dumb but now I know for sure!" Kokichi smirked, faking enjoyment in the trial.

Shuichi blushed off Kokichi's remark and focused on what Kaito had just explained, "Gonta, did you rea-" The detective froze. He had realised the contradiction. With what Kaito had just stated, Keebo's alibi no longer held up. He had the time to set up the murder and he was able to carry it out.. apart from one detail. He wouldn't of been able to get into the pool. Apart from that one detail. He could of easily killed her.

What was his motive? Shuichi's mind raced desperately, needing to remember the motive videos. "Kiibo had.. Kiibo had.. Miu's"

Why would he kill for Miu? Surely he wouldn't do that based of a motive video which wasn't even his.

Shuichi readied to start his interrogation. "Kiibo. You handed out the drinks with Gonta, is that correct?"

"Yes that is correct but.." Kiibo agreed innocently.

"And you were with Miu the entire time after that, correct?" Shuichi asked once again, this time insisting slightly more harshly.

The robot nodded.

"Three more things; Did you bring your motive video along with you or did you leave it in your room?" Shuichi questioned, his gaze sharpening on the human faced robot.

"I brought my motive video along with me but I did not show it to anyone. I left it in a secure place while Miu was making her alterations."

"Did you receive any.. specific requests for when you handed out the drinks?"

Kiibo shook his head.

Shuichi faked a smile. "Thank you Kiibo, that helps me peice things together. Oh, and one last thing, are you able to lie?" Shuichi crossed his arms tightly and looked at Kiibo, straight in the eyes, not braking eye contact.

Kiibo took a moment to respond, the rest of the students now shifting their attention onto him. "I.. I.. I cannot lie. My inventor did not see a purpose in this feature so he did not implement it and Miu, has not added it either."

Shuichi looked a relieved sigh, much to the other students confusion. This was the response that he was looking for. "You may not be able to lie but you could theoretically 'fake' gestures, couldn't you? Gestures such as shaking or nodding in response to a question, to imply the answer, without directly answering it?"

Kiibo just stared wide eyed back at the Ultimate Detective.

Angie interrupted their staring contest, "But Atua wants to know, how could Kiibo of killed poor Himiko if he can't get in water?"

"He could of deposited Himiko's body into the water using the drone that was located attached to the ceiling of the pool. It would of been easy to do with its specially added adaptations." Maki said, speaking near to emotionlessly, "So, it is entirely possible."

"But uh, how was Himiko taken from her room to the pool.. we haven't talked bout that yet." Ryoma murmured, in his usual deeper than expected voice. "Kirumi would of seen them."

"It depends, I may not of seen them take Himiko as her room is on the second floor." Kirumi explained, gesturing as she spoke.

"I can see a degenerate male doing something as disgusting as that. Carrying a sleeping girl out of her bed at night, it's classic of a degenerate!" Tenko interrupted with her usual defence.

"Who could carry Himiko's body? I imagine that it could be a challenge for people of a smaller stature." Kirumi noted, turning her head towards Gonta.

Tsumugi interjected, "No! Gonta wouldn't do something like that! He's a gentleman!"

"Who gives a fuck whether he's a fucking gentleman or not? A big guy like him could of had some really kinky shit with her before he killed her, Ha! Maybe he was being too rough with her!" Miu cackled, pushing her breasts forward, over the banister of her podium.

Shuichi glanced over to Miu and accidentally paused for a few seconds, finding himself slightly distracted. In the corner of his eye, he saw Kokichi look at him with a downhearted expression before looking back away, making the detective blush awkwardly, turning his attention back onto the trial.

harmzychuu is the artist behind this! And aw!! Their style is like a chibi one and I find it adorable, I really like in particular the first panel with Shuichi, it's so cute! Please go read their story which is on wattpad and comment if you liked it!
........................................................................................................................

He had to do this for Kokichi and he couldn't afford to get distracted by anyone or anything. "There was another way that Himiko's body could of been moved. Her body could of been moved using a drone with special alterations."

"Special alterations? Does that mean that any one of us could have taken her body from her room?" Tsumugi asked innocently, murmurs emerging from all of the students.

Shuichi crossed his arms once again. He knew that he was close to finding the truth now. He just had to keep on investigating and interrogating.

(There was too much for one chapter.. trial part two is in the next chapter)

(I hope this trial made sense.. and you may have some theories now?)
