*knock knock*

Shuichi turned his head at the sound of someone at his door but didn't move from his bed. He didn't see a point in moving.

The person, whoever it was, would probably go away after a while of waiting and getting no reply. They had probably just turned up due to social protocol, they didn't didn't really care about him.

He heard a large sigh from the side of the door but he didn't hear any footsteps walking away, like he was expecting to hear.

After a few more moments, Shuichi buried his head back into his pillow and closed his eyes, wanting to block out all of the memories and flashbacks that were rushing through his head one after the other.

He wanted to block himself off from everyone.

It was the only way to keep everyone else safe. He had to keep his distance and prevent the murders in the background.

Another knock, this one slightly louder than the first, emerged from the other side of the door again. Shuichi took a sigh and finally sat up on his bed.

"Who is it?" His voice was slightly raspy from not speaking.

"Guess!~" The childish voice arose from the other side of the door, answering the taller boy's question almost immediately.

Shuichi raised a hand to his face and wiped his eyes, attempting to get rid of the redness that the crying had caused. "Kokichi.. just come back tomorrow.. I just want to get some sleep."

Kokichi's eyes narrowed. Something didn't seem right about that sentence, or how the other boy had said it.. so he decided that he would continue to investigate. "You left back there, are you sure that you're oka-"

"I'm fine." Shuichi stormed towards the door and opened it, cutting Kokichi off before he could even finish his sentence.

The smaller boy took a deep breath as he focused on the detective's tired and tear-stained face.

He wasn't fine.

He wasn't fine at all.

Shuichi.. are you okay?" Kokichi asked sincerely.

"..just go." Shuichi's voice was extremely weak. The other boy took a deep breath, knowing that this was a complete lie. But at least he knew that Shuichi hadn't done anything erratic or stupid yet..

"I'm not going, I'm going to stay here all night if I have to."

If Shuichi had learnt anything about the smaller boy from the last game, it was that he wasn't one to give up. The taller boy shook his head and slammed the door in the liar's face with a loud 'bang'. Kokichi let out a noise of frustration, hearing that Shuichi had walked back to his bed again.

"..just stop wasting your time and leave me alone."

Kokichi's eyes narrowed as he prepared himself to open the door and step inside the detective's room.

In the corner of his eye, Shuichi saw the handle start to bend down and realised that he had forgotten to lock the door. He ran over and slammed his back down against it, stopping the smaller boy from entering the room. He looked at his desk and he saw the room keys.

He let out another sigh of frustration, knowing that he couldn't move away from the door until one of two possible circumstances happened.

1) Kokichi left.

2) He somehow managed to get his room keys off his desk.

But taken by the distance between the door and his desk, the second option seemed unlikely.

It was going to be a long evening.

Kokichi thought about his options then slumped down against the other side of the door, crossing his arms.

The taller boy lent down further against the door, making sure that he was more comfortable than before. If he was going to stay for.. as long as Kokichi refused to leave, then he at least wanted to be slightly comfortable.

"So.. are we going to talk or are we going to remain in silence?~"

"...." Shuichi didn't say a word. He didn't really want to engage in conversation right now, he just wanted to sit and wait for Kokichi to leave.

Kokichi nodded his head. "Alright, alright, I get it. Silence it is."

A part of Kokichi did believe that Shuichi would give up after a few minutes, thinking that at most it would be an hour.. boy was he wrong.

It had been over three hours of painfully painful silence and neither one of them had moved an inch from their sides of the door.

People had passed through the dorm room area and gave the smaller boy some extremely odd and suspicious looks, some even questioning what he was doing.

The detective was actually extremely surprised that the smaller boy had stayed, in perfect silence for this long, he had the shortest attention span that Shuichi had ever seen in a person.

And ironically, the silence was killing him more than Kokichi..

"...hey?"

Kokichi let out a yawn, rubbed his eyes and replied, "Mm.. hi, so are we speaking now?~"

He heard a gentle laugh from the other side of the door coming from the detective, "...The silence was killing me."

"Yeah, I haven't been this silent in ages. Wait, I don't think I've ever been this silent in my entire life. But you're worth being quiet for, nishishi~"

"...." Shuichi regretted starting the conversation.

"Are you blushing? I bet you're blushing.." Kokichi joked, singing slightly as he spoke.

Shuichi lent his head back against the door and closed his eyes, starting to feel tears well up in them. "I.. I.. can't do this anymore."

The smaller boy froze as he heard Shuichi's defeated tone of voice.

"Do what?" A few seconds after he asked the question, he realised what Shuichi meant.

He instantly turned around and knocked on the door loudly. "No,no, no, no, d-don't say that!"

Silence. Kokichi's pulse rate was thumping so fast, he could visibly see the blood pumping through his veins. The smaller boy stood up and started to pound on the door, "S-Shuichi! Open th-"

Kokichi fell forward onto the taller boy as the door suddenly opened.

Shuichi remained looking downwards but Kokichi could hear the small mumble of, "The reason.. the reason that Miu killed Himiko... was the videos.. I.. I.. I did that.. It's all my fault."

The smaller boy wrapped his arms around the detective in a tight embrace, still managing to say the words as he cried onto the smaller boy's back.

"I.. I-I.. killed them.."
