Shuichi opened his eyes, flinching at the familiar loud sound of the morning announcement. He lifted one of his arms up and rubbed his eyes so that they adjusted to the bright light of the room.
He let out a loud yawn and started to complete his usual routine, starting with getting up. Shuichi shifted over to the side of his bed but froze as he felt an unnatural weight on his chest.
The detective thought of his next steps and after a few minutes of debating with himself, he lifted up the covers.
Shuichi initially froze, staring with wide eyes at Kokichi, who was clinging tightly onto him.. laying across the detective's chest.
This person has asked not to be credited for this art! Soooo yeah, I can't give them the shoutout they deserve because this really is adorable and perfect in every way. So please comment at how amazing this is. I'm sure the person who did this will be reading this chapter and they'll see the love they deserve!

The night before.. it all went by in a flash. One minute they were fully clothed and arguing.. and in the next, they were half naked and passionately making out on his bed.
Logically, it was a massive mistake. Nothing good could come from this.. and there were only bad consequences.. but last night, logic went completely out of the window and it was replaced by pure lust and desire.
Shuichi felt himself blush as he lent down and planted a kiss on Kokichi's forehead.
He looked so vulnerable. He was fast asleep, meaning that he wasn't able to joke or to lie.. or make those creepy faces. If anything, he looked peaceful.
He was Shuichi's responsibility now, until the day he died.
*knock knock*
The detective lifted his head up towards the door, taking a sigh of relief as he remembered Kokichi locking the door earlier. He didn't want anyone to walk in on this. If someone saw them in this situation, they might attempt to use it as some sort of a bargaining chip.
The taller boy slowly moved Kokichi's arm off him and climbed out of the bed, not wanting to disturb the liar from his sleep. He put his jacket on along with his uniform trousers and walked quietly over to the door and opening it.
XxJarrakxX drew this one and the two below it and I have to say that I really like the style! I mean, especially in the first panel, because Shuichi looks so cute and innocent, y'know? So please go follow them, comment and check out their art books!

There was no one there, not even the monokubs or Monokuma himself. Shuichi poked his head out further and looked around, making sure that there was definitely no one there, when something caught his attention.
'Mister Detective'
Shuichi knelt down and picked up what appeared to be a letter and started to read it, his face falling into a state of shock and fear as he looked at the message inside.
'I expected more from you Mister Detective.
Now, let's play a game, me and you.
A true game of death.
A real killing game.
I'm already one step ahead of you.'
The taller boy's eyes narrowed as he re-read the note over and over again.
He started to fold up the letter to put it in his pocket when he saw another sentence on the back of it.
'It is a fact that an assassin's reflexes are exceptional! They can eliminate targets across very large distances. I've always admired people like that. Have you ever wondered whether it was possible to catch an assassin off guard? (*^3^) '
His eyes widened. This note was about Maki.. There were two other people who possibly knew about Maki's true talent.. Ryoma, because of the motives, and Tsumugi.. this was definitely her work.
He had to make a choice and he had to make his decision quickly. There was a chance that Tsumugi was lying or just acting, to get a reaction out of him but the other possibility was that Tsumugi had done something to Maki, that she could be dying or already be dead.
Tsumugi had proven herself to be a killer by murdering Rantaro in cold blood and framing someone else for the murder.. so the detective had no doubt that she was capable of doing it again.
He tucked the note into his pocket and headed briefly back into his room to get the keys to his dorm. He took one last look at the sleeping Kokichi before closing the door, locking the smaller boy inside to keep him safe in case this was a setup.
...
The taller boy knocked on the door one single time before attempting to break the lock. He knew that he wouldn't be able to break down the door but he was too blinded by fear and panic to think rationally. After a few more unsuccessful attempts, he got himself together and started to think.
He couldn't break open the lock.
He couldn't break down the door.
He had to get inside that room..
Two hair pins.. Kokichi had taught him how to pick open locks but there was no way that he had them in his pocket.. he put his hand in his pocket just to check and was more than surprised when he found a couple of pins. He had no idea when Kokichi had had a chance to put them in his pocket but he couldn't think about that now.
*click*
Shuichi ran inside, panicking as he couldn't see the assassin anywhere.
"M-Maki.. MAKI?!" He started to shout, beginning to search the room when he heard a muffled voice.
"M-MAKI?!"
"...MHMPH!" The sound came from the wardrobe, which the detective ran over and opened instantly. As soon as he opened the doors, the assassin fell out of it, slumping onto the floor.
Shuichi felt her pulse.
Her pulse rate was somewhat quickened but it wasn't anything alarming. He scanned her up and down and noted her situation.
Her hands were taped together with some sort of duct tape which also covered her mouth. One of her wrists looked deformed and out of shape and there was a large cut across one of her legs.
Shuichi saw a knife on the other side of the room, which he grabbed and started to cut Maki free.
....
"W-What happened? Who attacked you?"
Maki sat up, cradling her wrist in her hand. "I didn't see their face, or hear them enter my room in the first place."
Shuichi exhaled a loud huff, "Your wrist looks like it's broken.. do you want me to help you to Kirumi's lab?"
Maki rolled her eyes, "I can walk there by myself."
"What if she attacks you again and I'm not there, you're already at a disadvantage due to your current state.. You could die next time." Shuichi replied, looking directly at the assassin with crossed arms.
Maki huffed, pointing towards the door to her dorm. "I'm not going to let myself be caught off guard again. Now get out."
The detective was taken back but he decided not to talk back to her. Something was off with her, that was for sure but, he didn't want to test any theories right now. Even with her injuries, she could easily win any fight. He left her dorm without saying a word and started to walk back to his own room when an he felt a tap on his shoulder.
"Good morning Sidekick!"
"Oh, uh, good morning Kaito." Shuichi greeted, anxious to get back to his own dorm.
"You have bags under your eyes, are you sure you got enough sleep last night? You need to take care of yourself, Shuichi!" Kaito instructed, grabbing his shoulder, "Remember. The impossible is possible. All you've got to do is make it so!"
"I'll remember it, sorry Kaito but I've got something to do.."
The taller male looked a little surprised but went along with it anyway, "Yeah, alright then! See ya later sidekick!" He waved awkwardly before heading towards the dining hall.
Shuichi walked back up to his door, fumbling with his keys.
"Kokichi.. are you up? S-Sorry for leaving y.."
The detective trailed off.
There was no one in the room.
"K-Ko.." No.. no.
"KOKICHI?!" Shuichi shouted in a blind panic, running further into his dorm.
Panic flooded his mind as he saw a piece of paper on the bed. He picked it up with shaky hands and his face drained white as he read it.
'It was a lie! ヽ(*≧ω≦)ノ '
