44. Possessive
Haider was in a lighter mood when returned home. This time early. AK helped him out of his coat and informed about dinner. Haider nodded but doesn't say anything. He looked around for Amaal, but she wasn't seen anywhere. Hesitantly and disappointed, he began to walk towards the stairs.
Perhaps, she is asleep.
As Haider approached his room, he heard the muffled sound of a sports commentary and loud cheering. He frowned, holding on the doorknob, and strained his ears.
'Hey, Come on man. That was a close one. Dude, who let you on the team when you don't know how to score a goal. Idiot.'
Haider's expressions relaxed and opened the door. 'Woah!' He commented as just then, Amaal jumped on the bed as her team scored a goal.
'Oops.' Amaal gasped, pushing aside the rogue bangs that fell over her eyes. Haider looked at her with an entertained smile. She looked around searching for her night robe. Then, he realized she was in black satin shorts and loose Cami top.
'Hey, why are you dressed so provocatively?' Haider fumbled as he shut the door.
'Hey! You took me by surprise.' Amaal complained as she hurriedly climbed down and wore her night robe.
Haider dropped his coat on the bed and raised his arms, dropping it with a thud, - 'Do you always wear like this or any special occasion?' He scolded her. Amaal placed her hands on her hips and exhaled deeply.
Haider went on ranting, - 'AK and the Cook are here. Alone with you. And you—'
Amaal sighed loudly and flopped on the bed, - 'Chill, you are spoiling my game.' She looked at the TV and focused on the football match instead.
He angrily picked up the remote and switched off the TV.
'What is your problem, dude?' Amaal whined. He tossed the remote and walked around the bed, then stood in front of her.
'My problem is what if anyone, another man saw you like this?' – He blurted out. Amaal shut her mouth and blinked at him. He touched his forehead and exhaled deeply.
'Other man!' Amaal raised her eyebrows, folding her arms. Haider looked at her, a teasing smile played on her lips.
'This means,'- She climbed down the bed, - 'you don't mind me dressed for you.' She chuckled placing her arms on his shoulder. Haider was annoyed but the idea was enticing.
'Why would I want you to be dressed for me.' – He gulped, licking his lips, - 'You are not my wife.' He muttered.
Amaal threw her head back and laughed, - 'Why are you all the time singing the "wife jibe"? If you want to marry me, just say.' She mocked him. Haider looked at her sharply and grabbed her hand, pulling her closer.
'What if I say,' – he paused, - 'yes.'
Amaal smirked at him, - 'I thought I wasn't your type.' She replied in a seductive tone and had a bold smile. Haider smiled at her, a tingling feeling building up inside of him.
'What if I say that you are now.' – He pulled her closer, their faces inches apart, - 'Then?'
Amaal's smile grew, - 'I think I am dreaming.' She gazed lovingly into his eyes. She moved her hand and touched his rugged face. Haider blinked softly. They continued admiring each other till Amaal tilted her head and leaned.
Haider closed his eyes and his lips parted on its own. He felt a strong tingling sensation over his body as her soft lips kissed him. Slowly, he held her hands and moved his palms over the length of her arm and rested on her shoulder. She fisted his shirt from his waist and inched closer. Haider's eyes snapped open as she pulled out his shirt from the trousers.
'What are you doing?' He took a step back.
'Shh!' Amaal placed a finger on his lips, - 'Let me touch you. Please.'
'No!' Haider breathed.
'Why?'
'Because.'- he gulped, - 'I know I won't be able to stop myself.'
Amaal smiled in response, - 'Neither can I.'
Haider stared at her. Was it wise? What if both regret later? She has more to lose than him and he can't bear that. Quickly, he turned away, but she grabbed his hand, clinging onto his sleeve.
'You started it. Don't leave me hanging.' She confessed. Haider stilled realizing what blunder he did. He shouldn't have distracted her from her game nor should he have gone too far with her. He closed his eyes as he felt her delicate arms hold him from behind. She rested her head against his back and sighed deeply. Haider realized he stepped out of the boundary. He shouldn't have.
Just then, there was a knock at the door and Haider mentally relaxed.
'Sir, dinner.' AK's called from outside. Amaal clicked her tongue in agitation and moved away.
He relaxed his shoulders and turned to look at her, - 'You continue your game. I will have dinner and then I have some work.' He patted her shoulder ignoring the guilt in him. She pouted sadly and nodded. He felt relieved as she didn't argue. Quickly, Haider bathed and changed into his nightclothes. As he walked out of the room, Amaal got busy with the game.
The rest of the time, Haider couldn't concentrate on his work. All he could think of was Amaal and how tempting she looked in the satin night clothing. Also, the possibility of what would have happened if he hadn't stopped her. After much struggle, he decided to call it for the night. He glanced up at the wall-clock and noticed the time was three in the night. With heavy steps, he climbed up the stairs and his heart raced as he neared his room. The faint TV was heard. Was she awake and waiting for him?
Haider hesitated, then knocked at the door but there wasn't any response. He gathered courage and opened the door. Walking in, he noticed Amaal sleeping peacefully. She looked so serene that he couldn't help but smile. He went around the bed and sat at her foot. He continued to admire her, then leaned and carefully removed her glasses. He placed the glasses on the side-table and then covered her with the duvet. Haider gently caressed her head and planted a soft kiss on her forehead.
'I don't know what magic you have cast on me, Amaal. I had never thought, the annoying girl I met that day in my office would become the world to me. So much so, I can't think of living without you.' He confessed his feelings and got up. Throwing another glance at her, he left the room. Before walking out, he made sure to close the door properly. Suddenly, he left his workers were no longer trustworthy.
Haider prepared his tea and casually climbed the stairs. It had been a few days since the steamy incident between him and Amaal. He was thankful that she didn't bring up the topic again and nor they got into a similar situation. Though there was disappointment for him.
As he walked towards his room, he stilled upon hearing Amaal's voice.
'Ouch, AK! Don't poke me so hard with that thing of yours. It's too big and you are hurting me.'
Haider's eyes widened and he almost dropped his tea, - 'What the hell?' He said under his breath.
'Ow! AK! I said do it slowly. I told you I am new to this. Be careful, don't kill me with that.'
Haider placed his tea on the railing of the stairs and hurried to room.
What on earth were the two doing? A worse thought got his heart pumping in anger and worry. Without thinking twice, he barged into the room.
There was a loud gasp from both Amaal and AK. Haider clenched his fingers tightly but instantly unclenched his fist.
Amaal stood facing the mirror, dressed in brocade cold shoulder crop top and plain yellow lehenga skirt. AK was beside her with a large pin pressed between his lips and his hand on her shoulder keeping the transparent yellow dupatta in place.
'What is happening here?' Haider's gaze darted from one person to the other. Amaal sighed in exasperation.
'Haider! Come on, yaar. First, this dupatta isn't set and—Urgh! Why did Alina have to make this like dress codes? Why can't Haldi function be like in Pajamas? Damn! This dupatta.' She whined. AK asked her to relax else the pin will prick her skin.
Haider placed his palm over his chest and breathed out. A tinge of red adorned his cheeks and he was glad it wasn't seen through the thick layer of his beard. More so, he was thankful Amaal couldn't read his mind. What he had imagined made him feel embarrassed. Had she known he was thinking of the two having---
Amaal frowned and turned her attention to wearing real jasmine and marigold floral bracelet. Haider looked at AK and then irritably asked, - 'Are you done?' He quizzed and AK shook his head. He doesn't respond but kept observing his butler with a scrutinizing gaze.
After some time, he grew impatient as AK was taking his own time whilst Amaal was adjusting the waistline of her lehenga. Haider was more peeved because he was bothering by all this.
Amaal wore double pearl dangling earring, just then AK stepped back declaring that he was done. Before she had a chance to react, Haider grabbed his arm and dragged him out of the room.
'Good! Now go make my breakfast.' He shoved him away. AK toppled on his way out of the room. He kept blinking cluelessly while Amaal gaped at the scene. Haider stepped into the room and closed the door. He turned to Amaal, she pressed her lips tightly, shaking her head in disapproval. Then, she got busy with applying eyeliner and skillfully drew a perfect winged eyeliner. Haider licked his lips watching her apply deep rose matte lip gloss.
She turned to him and smiled, - 'How do I look?' She twirled flaunting her skirt. Haider smiled, tilting his head.
'Beautiful.' He complimented. She smiled lowering her head. His smile dropped, - 'You got ready, but I am not ready yet.' He sounded confused.
Amaal chuckled, - 'It's a ladies' only function. You are not invited.' She raised her chin, placing her hands on her hips. Haider shifted in place. Amaal looked excited, adjusting the dupatta on her arm, and admiring her reflection. He looked away from her.
'I am sending Gopi with you. Since it's Sunday, I will be at home.' He said and turned around. He heard her hum. Before walking out, he glanced at her.
Haider felt happy for Amaal. And admired her in his thoughts. In Indian ethnic dress, she looked even more pretty. More feminine, more tantalizing. Slowly, a regret of refusing her that night crept into his heart.
Possessive, eh, Haider *winks* *beams*
Also, Haider has such wild imaginations. His thoughts about Amaal and AK
