Manik started narrating his past to Nandini

Flashback..............

Manik's POV............

I entered Journalism since 2014. Before that......... I  passed my  IPS in 2007 and my first posting was as DSP in Vizag.

My wife's  name is Alya..............Alya Malhotra.  It was an arranged marriage done after matching kundlis and stars. The marriage was done in my wife's hometown.

(Introducing Alya Manik Malhotra - Wife of MANIK, loves him to core and respects Manik's parents as her parents)

(Manik is getting ready for his office. He is putting his shoes, sitting on a chair)

Manik     :      "Alya!" (He screamed)

Alya         :      "Coming Manik ! I was busy in the kitchen"

(Alya comes and combs Manik's hair while Manik grabbed her by her waist. Then making him stand, she straightens his collar)

Manik quickly pecked her lips and whispered in her ear "You should not be busy in anything when I am in need of you"  

 (Saying this Manik went. Alya stand rooted to  her place. Thought it was his routine, Alya always blushes like this is her first time)

Manik's POV................

Two months after our marriage..................... two people were selected from Andhra Pradesh commado force for training as bomb difusing squad. One is me and other is Abhimanyu Thakkar, my close friend.

(Introducing Abhimanyu Thakkar -  Manik's Best Friend and treats Alya as his own sister)

We were happy family.

It is said even if Mother Teresa would have become a mother- in- law, she fights with her daughter - in-law. But my mom and my wife are very friendly. My mom never questions anything unnecessary. And my wife too used to behave according to my parents likes.

She was awesome in everything. I and Alya used to live a jolly and blissful life.

Author's POV................

Manik and Alya often visit village children and play and enjoy with them. Like that one day, both Manik and Alya were dressed in casuals with Manik's shirt tied around his waist and the village children are following them)

Boys  :   "Are you a body builder?"

Manik :  "Why?"

Boys  :    "How can we get such a body?"

Alya   :    "Take an inch tape...............The tape that tailors use..... Chest 40",   Waist 30"

Manik :    "Hey!"

Alya  :      "You keep quiet. Muscles should be 14 inches like this. And a beautiful girl like me should be present to praise the physic"

                     "Isn't that true, body builder?"

Manik   :    "Yes, of course"

(Manik is playing basket ball and alya with some village children encourages him. Manik puts goal)

Alya and boys   :    "Well done !"

Manik     :     "Do you want to try?"   (Alya bobbs her head excitedly)

(Alya tries but she can't put the goal. Even in second try........... Hence Manik suddenly lifts Alya in air and she puts the goal. Alya hugged Manik)

(Scene shifts to Manik's home. Some other day, it is a sunday! Hence Alya is wearing Manik's T-Shirt and Tracks which seems to be very loose for her)

(Here Raj having some slices of Jack Fruit in a plate is walking towards Manik's room. Nyonika stopped him)

Nyonika    :     "What are you doing?"

Raj              :      "The shop keeper said that if she eat some jack fruit pieces, she will be getting a child soon. I will give this to them and come"

Nyonika    :      "You shouldn't enter in his room without knocking the door?"

Raj              :       "Is he a collector that I need permission to go inside? This is fantastic!"

(Saying this he opened the door a little where he saw Alya is doing haircut for Manik)

Alya        :        "Sit straight!"

Manik    :        "Okay!"

Raj  whispered to Nyonika  :  "She cuts it very well. Does she do only haircut or shaving as well?"

Nyonika   :    "Do you want me to get it done as well?"

(By this time, both Alya and Manik came near the door and overheard their conversation and they were smiling inaudibly)

Raj     :       "Did you cut my hair atleast once in 45 years?"

Nyonika :    "I am ready. When you want the session?"

Raj      :        "I don't have faith in you. You might make me bald!"

(Saying this Raj went , Nyonika, Alya and Manik bursted into laughter as they came out their room just after Raj went)

(Days passed away like this)

It's Diwali.................

Manik holds crackers in his hand and bursts it as it is.................... while Alya is doing some work inside the home and frightened to come outside due to the sound of crackers burst.

Manik  to Abhimanyu   :    "Is it enough that the children praise? My wife should also praise me. Call Alya!"

(Abhimanyu smiles and went inside the home to call Alya)

Abhimanyu    :      "Alya!"

(Alya becomes frightened on hearing Abhimanyu and stands rooted to his place and rushed outside)

Alya    :    "Brother ! What happened to Manik?"      (Alya asks Abhimanyu panickly)

Abhimanyu   :     "Nothing. Manik lights the crackers with his hand. The kids are looking at him with scared faces. Now he is going to light a 1000 wala cracker by holding in his hand)

(For each and every word told by Abhimanyu, Alya's face expressions changed drastically)

Alya   :    "Is he doing that with his hand?'

Abhimanyu   :    "He has the courage to do that. Why are you scared?"

Alya   :    "I am afraid of even smaller things. If he does that, I get  even more scared. If he gets into a tussle, I'm afraid that he may get hurt. If he goes on a flight, I am afraid that there might be an accident. When he dives into swimming pool, I remain scared till he comes up"

(Alya says all this worriedly)

She continued    "I can't bear if anything happens to him"

Abhimanyu was shocked   :   "You gave me a big list !     Alya, his job is to defuse bombs"

Alya   :    "Don't tell me that. I am afraid even to think that! From the day he got the job, I hardly sleep"

Abhimanyu  :    "If you are so scared and told him, he would not have taken this job"

Alya    :    "You are thinking about me. Do you know how much he loves his job? He is very happy that he got this job. Do you want me to spoil his happiness. What else can I give him? I don't want to take this happiness away from him. That is why I kept my fear to myself"

(Alya cries and Abhimanyu side hugs her)

Alya   :   "I said this out of my senses. Don't tell this to him. His happiness is more important than my fear"

Abhimanyu nodded and they both went outside where Manik is bursting crackers. Alya becomes frightened for every sound of cracker and Abhimanyu noticed it and he is worried for his helplessness!

(After a month, both Manik and Alya were seen to be in Alya's friend Payal's wedding)

Manik     :   "Alya! Did you call me?"

Alya        :    "Yes, come here. I want to introduce my friend to you"

                       "He is Manik Malhotra, my husband. Assistant Commissioner! He gives me whatever I ask!  And Manik, she is my good friend Payal! She is used to play a lot of pranks at college"

Payal     :     "Hey! Don't say that"

Manik   :      "Such a good friend? Then why did you say that you don't want to attend her marriage?"    (Manik mischievously asked to Alya to which Alya glared him. While  Payal is shocked)

Payal    :       "Did she say so? How did you get the heart to say that?"

Alya rolled her eyes  :   "You also did not come to my marriage. I said that sarcastically and he is replaying it"

(As the two friends started fighting, Manik found himself guilty for the situation. So he thought to divert the topic)

Manik   :   "Is she the bride really?"

Payal looked at him in horror  :   "doesn't my face appear like that?"

Manik   :    "Normally a bride appears shy. But your friend does not appears to be shy."

Alya       :     "The groom has all the feeling that you want.  You Don't worry!"

(To which all of them bursted in to laughter)

(At evening in wedding hall)

Manik    :    "Alya !"

Alya        :     "I am coming. Did you call me?"

Manik    :      "I can't wait till the marriage is over. Sorry! I have to start immediately. I just got the message about some bombs being planted. The local inspector came here searching for me. I have to go"

(Alya is stunned )

Alya     :    "What did you say?'

Manik  :     "Some bombs were planted. People could lose their lives. My work is to difuse them. Is there something new?"   (Manik said casually)

                     "I have to go. Tell your friend.  I will call you from there. Okay?"

(Saying this Manik was about to go, but Alya held his hand. Manik turned to see Alya standing with pool of tears in her eyes)

Manik    :     "Hey! Alya! what happened? Are you okay?"

(Alya nodded  and composed herself)

Alya thought  "It's not the time to cry Alya. Smile. Smile for him. Bid him Good bye with a large smile on your face"

Alya    :     "Nothing. Just..... Will miss you badly!"

Manik :    "I will miss you too....... Enjoy your friend's wedding. Come back soon..."

(Saying this Manik kissed her forehead and went away. After image of Manik vanished from her eyesight, Alya bursted into tears.......)
