Untitled Part 2
Chapter 2
"Serena! Serena! Oh, God Serena wake up! Please answer me! Please wake up! Please be alright!" A.J. shouted franticly at Serena, who was lying unconscious on the floor. A.J. had heard a loud THUMP! and went to see what it was. When she walked into the living room, she saw her sister on the floor, with a large bump on her head. Serena's eyelids start to flutter until they were open fully.
"A.J.? Why am I on the floor?" Serena asked, looking around, confused.
"Serena! You're okay!" A.J. said, relieved that her sister wasn't dead. "You were sweeping up the glass, remember? I think you might've slipped on a piece of glass and hit your head. Come on. I think you should go upstairs and lay down."
"No. I'm fine now. I just want to change out of this cheerleading uniform. It's kind of itchy."
"Okay. Call me if you need anything. I don't like you being all alone when you're hurt." A.J. said, unconvinced that Serena wasn't hurt.
"I'll be perfectly fine. You don't need to worry about me. You just worry about the broken window before Mum gets home. 'Kay?" Serena said, looking at her sister expectantly, waiting for a response.
A.J. sighed. "Okay. But only because I don't want Kandy or you get in trouble. But seriously. If you start feeling light-headed or sick, just call me." Suddenly the doorbell rang. A.J. looked towards the door. "That's probably Steve. I'll get it while you go clean up." A.J. stood up and walked towards the door. Serena got up and walked up the stairs towards her room. She walked down the hallway and turned when she got to a large set of double doors. She opened the doors and slipped through them into a large, lavishly decorated bedroom. There was a large, blue canopy bed in one corner and an even larger vanity in the other. There was a large window with a reading seat in it. There was a large set of double doors covered in sparkles, which Serena opened to reveal a huge room with racks of clothes and boxes of shoes, hats, and accessories. She walked into the closet and sorted through the shirts and dresses until she found the one she was looking for. She laid it out on her bed and walked into the bathroom. Serena decided to take a nice relaxing bath and think about what had happened.
She sank into the water and washed the confusion away. She got out and got dressed in the peter pan cut blouse that said, "Play like a girl doesn't mean what it used to" on it. She pulled on a pair of sparkly jeans and flats. She brushed out her hair and put in a headband. Serena gave herself a once- over before heading downstairs to find Steve putting in a new glass window pane.
"Hey Steve! Thanks for coming over at such short notice." Serena said, smiling as she walked into the living room.
"I'm glad to be able to help out. Are you feeling alright Serena? A.J. said you slipped and hit your head. Must be nice to have her back. Right?" Steve remarked.
"I'm feeling much better, actually. And it is really nice to have A.J. back. I feel like I haven't seen her in centuries, not a few measly years." Serena replied. "She's a really good big sister, and was really popular in high school. She doesn't talk about college though."
"Well then. I'm sure she has a reason for not talking about it. I've finished fixing the window, so, I must be going." Steve said as he walked towards the door.
"What do we owe you?" Serena yelled after him.
"This one's on me! Happy birthday!" He hollered as he closed the door behind him.
"Thanks Steve!" Serena said. She felt her phone buzz and she glanced down at it. When she saw the caller I.D. she smiled. Her boyfriend Dylan was calling her. He always did the best things for her on her birthday. She couldn't wait to see what he had planned for her sweet sixteenth birthday. She pressed the accept call button and lifted the phone to her ear. "Hey Dylan! What's up?" Serena asked.
"Nothing much. Can we meet at the park? Same time same place? I need to tell you something important." She heard Dylan say nervously into the phone. That was never good. Dylan was always so composed and cool. He NEVER got nervous. Ever.
"Uh... sure! I just need to check in with my sisters so that A.J. doesn't throw a fit. See you in an hour. Bye!" Serena hung up the phone and sank into the couch. She had a nagging suspicion that something was wrong. Normally, she would talk to her Aunt, Brianna Summers, about it, but Aunt B was off in the Bermuda Triangle to study the effect of the triangle that causes the strange electrical problems. Serena considered talking to A.J. about it, but then she thought it would be weird. It seemed like she was on her own this time. So she hollered back, "I'm going out for a while! Be back in a bit!" and walked out the door as she pulled on her jacket and helmet.
Serena pulled the keys out of her pocket and into the ignition. The bike buzzed to life as she swung one leg over the bike's seat. She kicked up the kickstand and rode off the driveway. Serena thought about her party and what she wanted as she drove down the highway. She knew that it had to be pink and blue. Red and blue would look like Spiderman.
She wanted it to be fancy and full of balloons. Serena's parents thought she should hire a professional party planner to save time. But she wanted to do it herself. It was HER party. Not some party planner's! It had to be perfect. Absolutely perfect. NOTHING could go wrong.
Serena already had all the decorations, catering, and music picked and done. All that was needed was to set everything up. She wanted the party to be held in the backyard. Her backyard was like a fairy garden and she had always dreamed of having her Sweet Sixteen there. And now that dream was about to come true.
Serena pulled into the parking lot with that thought in mind as she parked her bike. She pulled off her helmet and walked through the gates. As she walked up to the gazebo, she saw that Dylan was already sitting in it. He had blonde hair and deep blue eyes that gave a person chills when you looked into them. His skin was slightly pale, even in the summer, but he had a certain charm about him that made every girl fall head- over- heels in love with him.
"Hey." Serena said as she sat down next to him, smiling.
"Hey." Dylan replied, not looking Serena in the eye.
"How've you been?" Serena asked him as she tried another approach to find out information. It didn't work.
"Good." Dylan still wouldn't look at her. Serena was now certain that something was wrong. Dylan always looked her in the eyes.
"Did you hear that-"
"I think we should break up." Dylan interrupted. Serena's forced smile faltered, before reappearing on her face with a nervous chuckle.
"I'm sorry, what did you say? It sounded like you said that we should break up!" Serena said, feeling shocked.
"That's because I did say that, Serena. I think we should break up." Dylan confirmed. And with those words, Serena's world began to fall apart. One question burned through her mind: Why
"But why? Is it me? Did I do something? Say something? When did you get this thought in your head?" Serena rambled on.
"It's not you it's me. I've been really busy lately with my studies, and I just don't want any distractions. I'm sorry." He said.
"So I'm a distraction? That's all I was to you? Did you even care about me? Wait just one minute! You were always complaining about how I always speak my mind and you can't control me. ARE YOU BREAKING UP WITH ME BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO BE A TROPHY GIRLFRIEND!?!?!?!?!?" Serena said in outrage.
"No. it's not like that it's just-" Dylan tried to explain, But Serena didn't want to hear it.
"Just forget it. You want to break up? Well then, mister! WE'RE THROUGH! I DON'T EVER WANT TO SEE YOU'RE UGLY FACE AGAIN OR I WILL RIP YOU APART LIMB BY LIMB. UNDERSTAND?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?" Serena roared in anger.
"Of course, but–" Serena cut him off as she stood up.
"That's it. I'm going home." She stormed off in anger.
"Serena, wait! We should talk about this! Come back! Please!" Dylan ran after Serena.
"Leave me alone. I've had enough!" Serena said as she started to jog.
"Please. Serena. Just come back over here to the gazebo and we'll talk about it." Dylan reached out and grabbed Serena's arm.
"I said," her body started to buzz with a bizarre feeling. "I've had ENOUGH!!!" Serena said as she jerked her arm out of his grasp, shaking it and flicking her wrist. A stream of water shot out of her hand, followed by a stream of fire. The blasts sent Dylan flying back, straight into the gazebo. Serena stared in shock for a moment, then took off running. She didn't know what had happened, she just knew she had to get out of there.
Serena saw Dylan get up and start running after her. She broke into a sprint toward her bike. Dylan was catching up fast, no matter how much speed she put on. She saw that she had two actions. She could give in and listen, or she could keep running. Serena didn't know what he wanted to do with her, but she had a feeling it wouldn't be good. So she ran even faster.
She reached the fence and decided that she didn't have time to walk around. She flipped over the fence and onto the bike, yanked on her helmet, jammed the key into the ignition, and sped off; leaving Dylan in the dust.
