Two: So We Meet Again

"I don't know why I'm here, I definitely don't need to get darker," I commented as I laid my towel out on the sand. I laid down and started to get comfortable.

"Yes, I know," Maggie said as she laid down, "You said it when we were at the store and you bought the highest spf sunscreen that they offered. You also just said it in the house while you slathered your body in the stuff. Plus, you're the one that wanted to come to the beach so bad!"

I huffed. "Well excuse me for wanting to keep my current skin tone!"

She slid her sunglasses on and put her hands behind her head. "I hate to be the one to break it to you, but sunscreen doesn't prevent tanning. It just prevents skin cancer."

Really? Damn. Reminder to self: keep your contact with the sun minimal this summer... Ah, who am I kidding. It's summer vacation and I'm in Miami. "Yeah, well," I tried to think of something smart to say back. "At least I won't get skin cancer." I failed. That was lame.

She laughed and continued soaking up the sun's rays. Defeated, I put my sunglasses on and pulled a book out of my bag. Knowing how easily I get distracted, I also pulled out my headphones and turned my music on. Within no time, I was lost in the storyline, absorbing all of the words like a sponge. It was a cheesy romance novel- you know, boy meets girl, they fall hopelessly in love, insert some problem that temporarily keeps them apart here, they live happily ever after, the whole enchilada. It may all be very cliché, but even after everything I've been through I'm a sucker for love. I guess it'll always be that way.

About halfway through the novel, something blocked the sun in front of me, casting a human sized shadow. I looked up, curious. The figure blocking my view was none other than that guy from the party a couple of days ago. What was his name again?

Don't act like you don't know his name. My inner voice chastised. I really don't like that girl sometimes.

Corbin flashed me a huge grin, his hazel eyes sparkling in the sunlight. "So we meet again," he said charmingly, the grin never leaving his face. I couldn't help my gaze from wandering down his body. I admired his 6-pack which was glistening with salt water, and I allowed my eyes to travel a little lower where his red swim trunks hung low on his waist revealing a deep cut V. I swooned internally. Could this guy be any hotter?

"Well, if it isn't tall, ripped, and handsome?" I slapped my hand over my mouth as soon as I said it. I was so caught up in the moment that I didn't even think about what I was going to say. I mentally face palmed myself. Word vomit is a dangerous thing! I felt my ears heat up in embarrassment.

Thankfully -I think?- he just laughed it off. "I'm glad to hear you think I'm ripped and handsome. Lolita right?"

I nodded, and he crouched down and stuck his hand out. I guess he's a formal guy. I took his hand and shook it. "And your name is? I'm sorry I have a terrible memory."

Yeah, right.

He smirked, and I was pretty sure that he knew I was lying. "Corbin."

I smiled. "Nice to see you again."

Really? Since when did I suck so bad at making conversation?

Corbin didn't suck at making conversation though. Not one bit. Lowering his voice and moving a little closer to me, he said "Did you forget how we know each other as well? Because I'd be more than happy to remind you," with a seductive edge to his voice. Those words alone sent a wave of desire through my body and I closed my eyes, thanking myself for wearing sunglasses. I didn't want him to see how much his words affected me.

I didn't forget one detail of what happened that night. I didn't forget how his touch sent a volt of electricity through me. I didn't forget him whispering his name in my ear. I didn't forget how he filled me so completely, and I sure as hell didn't forget how good he made me feel.

"I-I remember," I stuttered like a complete fool.

He gave me his megawatt smile again and laid down next to me in the sand. "So what are you up to on this beautiful day?"

I smiled at him and held up my book. "Reading." I said simply. Jeez, it's getting harder and harder for me to talk in complete sentences. What's wrong with me?

"Oh come on, you don't read at the beach, you can do that at home!" he paused for a moment, thinking something over. "Come on, let's go have some fun."

"I can't just leave my friend," I stated, pointing to my now sleeping companion.

Corbin laughed again, a deep rich laugh that sent shivers down my spine. "I don't think she's going to miss you. Come on, let's do something!"

I sighed. I did come to Miami to have fun, and as much as I love reading, there's a lot more that I could be doing at the beach.

"Okay."

His eyes lit up. "Really?"

"Yeah, let's go," I said nonchalantly, as if being close to him wasn't driving me crazy. I put all of my things in my bag, and moved my belongings closer to Maggie.

He led me through the crowd of beach goers until we got to the shore. the Standing there was a girl and a guy.

The girl had the same caramel skin as Corbin, and freckles to match his too. She stood at about 5'8" or so, and had gray eyes. Her dark brown hair had golden streaks and fell in waves all the way down her back. She was gorgeous.

The guy was a little bit darker than me, and was about two inches taller than Corbin. This guy was like a skyscraper. Seriously. I bet he has to duck when he enters houses and buses sometimes. Tall guys amaze me. He had dark brown eyes and a fresh cut. His abs almost rivaled Corbin's. Almost. I've never seen a guy with abs as nice as his. I mean does this guy live at the gym?! Just thinking about them made me internally swoon.

"Lolita, this is my twin sister Corrine and her boyfriend Aaron. Guys, this Is Lolita. I met her at a party the other day."

Corrine smiled at me. "You must be the girl that Corbin can't stop talking about. He wouldn't shut up about how beautiful you are," she laughed and Corbin rolled his eyes, "He's right though. You are pretty."

I smiled. "Thanks. You are too." I felt my ears get hot. Corbin talked about me to his sister? I bet he conveniently left out the part where we had mind blowing sex.

Aaron held out his hand and I shook it. What a formal guy. "I guess Corbin finally got tired of being the third wheel and decided to make friends," he said with a chuckle.

"Oh, I'm sure he has plenty of friends." I looked over at him, but he just looked down at the ground and kicked sand around.

"Nah, my brother's a loser," she said with a big cheesy smile on her face so I knew she was joking, "Come on, let's go have some fun!"

-

We were now in the water with Corrine on top of Aaron's shoulders, and me on top of Corbin's. Apparently the point of this game was to wrestle with your opponent or something and whoever falls in the water first loses. All of it just sounded pretty complicated to me. Why couldn't we just play a simple game of Marco Polo?

"You ready?" Aaron said from below.

"Yeah, let's do this!" Corrine said excitedly at the same time I said "I guess," with an unsure voice.

Corrine put her hand on my shoulders and I did the same. Corbin yelled "Go!" and she immediately started pushing my shoulders back. I, obviously not prepared, lost my balance for a bit and almost went flying off of Corbin's back. After regaining my composure, I pushed back in attempt to get her off of Aaron's shoulders, but she held her ground.

The game went like this for a little bit, our strength equally matched. Then I got an idea.

I fixed my face into a look of horror and looked off into the distance. Corrine saw my face and got worried, looking over her shoulder to see what I was looking at. I took advantage of her distracted state and pushed her hard, sending her into the water.

My plan almost went perfectly. Except for one flaw. She never released her grip on me, so she ended up tugging me off of Corbin's shoulders and into the cold saltwater.

After spending a few seconds under the water, I emerged sputtering. Corrine was laughing hard and loud, as well as both of the boys.

"I don't think pulling me down with you was apart of the game," I said with a laugh.

"Well you cheated!"

"I didn't do anything," I crossed my arms and smirked.

"Yeah yeah," she said dismissively. Then she smiled. "I like you," she looked over at Corbin. "I like her!" she yelled to him.

He rolled his eyes at her and gave her a thumbs up. "Congratulations sis!" he yelled sarcastically.

"Don't mind him," she said waving him off, "he loves to annoy me."

"It's what siblings are supposed to do," I said with a chuckle.

She nodded. "Hey, you should hang out with us again sometime. I'll have Corbin call you the next time we go to a party."

"Oh, he doesn't have my number," I explained quickly. There wasn't exactly time for that at the party, if you know what I mean.

"Well, what are you waiting for? Give it to him!" she winked at me.

Wait, she doesn't think that Corbin and I like each other does she?

She smiled at me again. Yeah, she definitely does.

I shook my head, laughed it off, and enjoyed the rest of my time at the beach with my new friends.
