Prologue

Ji-ah.

A name that stood for beautiful purpose.

Ji-ah, the eldest princess of the Kingdom of Kouka and daughter to Kashi and King Il, was never sure that she would ever live up to the meaning of her name.

At the age of eighteen, she was considered by many to have an indescribable beauty and grace even in spite of her well known blindness. She was well versed in all sorts of knowledge, and she was kind and gentle to all those who met her.

She was the pride of many in the castle.

However, she still had her shortcomings. She had so many that she could no longer even dare to try and count them all, and there was only so much that she could do to hide them. At times, she felt as though her entire being had become nothing but a facade, an empty shell of who she truly was and who she used to be.

The ebony haired girl couldn't help but find and focus on one too many faults that seemed to plague her.

Ji-ah plastered a smile on her face for the world to see. She played her role as a princess, and she played her role as a mature and motherly older sister.

She couldn't help but wonder if she even remembered who she truly was anymore.

She wasn't even sure that that was important.

All she knew was that she had to live.

She had to live until she had found her purpose.

She had to live until her purpose had been fulfilled.
