14. At The Mall
"What if I say yes? Will you give up on her for me?" Roberto couldn't help but get playful to his brother. He raised an eyebrow and smiled at him amusedly.
"I can say the same for you. Will you give up on her for me?" Leo interjected, marching towards him.
"Well-" Roberto twitched his eyebrows and rubbed his temple. "-honestly, I would never give up on her but she belongs to the king now. And I would never dare to compare myself to you." He grinned widely looking at Leo.
"Enough with this topic; get out now. I'm gonna sleep." Leo gently shoved his brother away to the side who was blocking his way to his bed.
"I know Love is something people like us can't have because it takes lots of risks but where's the fun if there's no risk at all. So don't worry too much Leo, your brothers are here for you. Stop wasting your time in avoiding her instead, go to her. I would very much love it if Anna becomes our sister-in-law. We will always be by your side to protect our sister-in-law." Roberto said over his shoulder and smiled. Leo stared at his brother's back and bit back a smile. "But you really like to pull her legs, don't you?" and he turned to face him once again.
"It's fun playing her around." Leo smiled wolfishly.
"What if she doesn't feel the same way as you do for her?" Leo didn't answer and simply shrugged off.
"And if you continue getting on her nerves, I'm afraid she'll end up hating you more."
"Don't worry, I'm not meeting her anymore from now on." Leo said quietly.
"So that's what both of you were talking earlier, about crossing the path." Leo creased his eyebrows at him, "I heard your conversation earlier." He scratched on his forehead gently and smile sheepishly at his brother.
"It's for the best."
"And what about us? Are we allowed to meet her?" Roberto asked amusedly.
"That depends on you but remember this, if her life gets in danger because of any of you, you will answer me." He deadpanned and warned luke-serious.
"That's what exactly you're telling us to stay away from her!" Roberto pointed put and scowled.
"Bouna notte, Rob." He said under his chuckle.
"Bouna notte, Underboss," Roberto said over his shoulder and walked out from his room.

The weekend was over and as usual, Anna kept herself busy doing the delivery work. After returning from her last delivery, she decided to rest for some time since there was no delivery to be made now. As she stared at the busy street through the windowpane, she felt a soft and warm hand in front of her eyes, blindfolding her from behind.
"I thought you were on your vacation, Clary." She said as she slowly removed her hand from my eyes.
Clarissa Conteneo, her one and only childhood and best friend, she's eighteen years old and they go to the same college but different course. She's doing her B.D.S courses. She's a type of girl you wouldn't dare to challenge her in a debate. She's all about talks. And she will always find a way to retort back.
"It was really boring to be with the elders. So I came back rushing." She pouted.
"I knew you wouldn't even last a week without me." Anna crossed her arms and smirked at her best friend.
"Yeah, let's get married then." She joked tugging her hand into Anna's arm.
"Sorry dearies, I'm against LGBT." Sofia rejected playfully, she was standing at the kitchen door and was watching them, her hands resting on her hips and narrowing her eyes at both of them.
"I'll take her and run away far from here." Clary held her chin up and said.
"Come here, you little chatterbox." Sofia strolled towards her and hugged her softly when she reached her. "How are you?" She asked.
"I'm fine. Thank you." Clary answered like a nursery kid answering to her teacher. "How are you, Aunt?"
"I'm fine too, dear," Sofia answered. "I thought you were on your vacation. What happened? Is everything alright?"
"Everything is fine, Aunt. It was so boring to be around with bunches of olds and moreover, I missed my girl so much so I drive back here to be with her." Clary answered as she side hugged Anna and grinned widely at her.
"Oh really! But I didn't miss you at all." Anna joked. Clary removed her arm from her shoulder and pouted at her before gently slapping on her arm. "Aw!" Anna fake squealed as a sign of hurting.
"Aunt! I'm hungry. I didn't have anything on my way back here." She said scrunching her nose.
"What will you have, dear?" Mom asked.
"Honey, did you have your lunch?" Clary asked looking up at Anna with her chin held high. She was some inches shorter than Anna.
"Nope!"
"Let's have our favourite food. Aunt, Two black bean noodles please." She said and grinned widely at Sofia.
"Roger that, dearies." She flicked her two fingers beside her temple as a sign of salute and winked at them before strolling inside the kitchen.
The two friends settled and Clary begins to share everything that happened when she was with her grandparents last week and also she started exaggerating too much of how she was feeling suffocated being with the elderly.
"Now tell me about yours. How did you spend your one week without me?" She asked.
"It was really enjoyable." Anna said playfully and gave her an amused smile.
"I know you meant the opposite way." She wiggled her eyebrows to which Anna simply nodded at her. "By the way, while riding back home; I heard from around that De Luca's Grandsons are already in the town." Anna nodded at her again. "Did you see them?" She asked quickly and excitedly.
"Ah-Yup," Anna replied.
"Really! How do they look in person?" She squeezed her hand excitedly and leaned forward on the table.
"Human!" Anna raised my eyebrows and smiled at her cheekily. Clary simply rolled her eyes over and sat straightened on her chair, pouting. "They are very handsome in person. Happy!" Anna answered and she smiled at her widely.
"How did you meet them?"
Anna told her everything about their first encounter but skipped that kissing part. She found it unnecessary to tell her so. And even if she did, Clary would probably go and smashed Leo for kissing her without permission.
"So did you find your prince charming in any of the four brothers?" Clary asked out of the blue.
"Nope! Not interested in that stupid stuff."
Clary shook her head and sighed dejectedly. "You'll never change. What if one of them is your prince charming? I heard Italians guys are very handsome and hot and also very loyal to the woman they love. God! I should hunt for one too." She imagined as she drooled over her fantasy Italian guy.
"Why don't you try finding your prince charming among one of them then?" Anna suggested jokingly but Clary was taking serious about it.
"Do you think they'll even notice me?"
"Are you seriously thinking of doing that?" Anna couldn't help but chuckle at her best friend. "Damn! You are one desperate girl."
"Anna, can you introduce me to them?" She gave her a puppy looked and begged. "Pretty please."
"You'll never change too!" Anna shook her head.
After their lunch, Clary spent some time with her and went back home to organize her things. Anna was sitting in the reception and her mother came and joined her.
"Anna, I'm planning to vacant for the delivery job for our restaurant, how's that?" Sofia asked.
"That's a good idea, Mom. You should do that. Once my college recommences, I wouldn't be able to help you a lot and you'll be doing the double work like before. It's better to find one." Anna said.
"Mmmhh-okay, I'll do that." Sofia agreed and smiled at her. "I need to go to the market, please look after the restaurant while I'm away, dear."
"No Mom you stay, the restaurant needs you more than me. I'll go and do marketing things." Anna offered and gently took the list from her mother's hand. Anna smiled at her before turning on her heels. After reaching the mall, she marched for the vegetable section. As she was making her way towards it, she felt like someone was following her behind. She stopped at the middle junction of the huge mall and turned back. There were two men in black trudging heavily towards her. Without wasting a second, Anna ran away from them. As she ran ahead, the two other men in black appeared out of nowhere and came in front of her. She couldn't help but defend herself. As one of the men grabbed her by her arm, she quickly shoved away and threw him a punch. The other man dashed at her but she quickly used her hand technique and made his unconscious. Then she swiftly moved towards the other one and did the same to him before he could even stand to his feet. Anna knew that they will start chasing her until they were laid down. But she was confused; she didn't know who these men were and why they were after her.
The other two men who chased after her finally reached her and pulled out their guns and pointed at her. The location they were now was of no people around. She glanced around and realized that she had stopped at the deserted part of the mall. She couldn't help but raised her hand in surrender.
"You're coming with us, Miss." One of the men said hoarsely.
"Who are you? And what do you want from me?" Anna demanded, her toned not a bit of fear. She glanced around to find an escape but the luck was not on her side.
"Put your guns down before I make a beautiful hole in your head." A familiar voice boomed dangerously around. Anna looked past the two men and saw Roberto standing behind them along with some bodyguards. They were all with guns pointing at the two men.
The two men turned around and did the most foolish thing. They tried to shoot at them but before they could pull the trigger, they were already shot dead to the ground. Anna involuntarily looked away and closed her eyes tightly. Her both hands were palmed on her ears tightly from the loud sound of the gunfires.
"Anna, you alright!" Roberto said as he came and stood in front of her. Anna opened her eyes and slowly removed her hands from her ears and nodded at him. She was then about to turn and looked at the dead bodies but Roberto cupped her face with his one hand making her stopped from turning.
"You don't need to see this." He said looking right into her eyes. He then turned his gazed towards his men and gestured them. "Take care of this mess and bring those two to the basement." He ordered his men and gestured to those two men who were unconscious on the ground.
"Who were those men? And what do they want from me?" Anna asked.
"They're Sylvester's men," Roberto answered.
"Why were they after me?"
"I don't know. C'mon, let's get out of here." He took her by her hand and dragged her along with him.
"Thank you, Roberto, for saving me. But how did you find me?" Anna couldn't help but ask.
"I was on my way to the vegetable section and I saw these men. You know, where there are Sylvester's men, there will always be a murder or abduction. So I followed them and I got you." Roberto explained. "Anna!" He stopped at his track and faced her. "Pretend that nothing happened some minutes ago." He stated clearly to which Anna nodded at him.
"So you were here to buy vegetables!" Anna pointed out.
"Yup, what about you?"
"Same here."
"Good! C'mon, let's get normal and buy veggies together."
After an hour of shopping, Roberto offered to drop her on the way.
"How's your grandpa doing?" She came up with a conversation on their ride.
"Oh-he's doing better day by day." Roberto glanced at her and answered. "Anna! Thank you very much for saving my grandpa and my brother. My Family is very grateful to you. My mother really wants to meet you and thank you properly in person." He continued.
"Ah-I don't know what to say but I'm happy to know that." Anna felt awkward. It was her habit. Whenever people praise her or appreciate her genuinely, she feels nervous and awkward.
"Oh, and by the way, how did you get those men? I see you are very good at knocking people unconscious. I remember that night in the club as well, you knocked some men down to the ground. How did you do it?" Roberto kept glancing towards her as he went on speaking.
"Oh-that was my hand technique," Anna answered as she did the hand gesture on an imaginary opponent. "Want me to try over you!" She tilted her head and jested.
Roberto grinned widely glancing at her. "You really are something, Anna. You should come to join us in training and teach us your hand technique." He said in an amused tone.
"Who is your Trainor?"
"We don't need trainor when we have Leo with us. He trains us." She tried her best not to react to any emotion at the mention of his name. She looked away and pretends to stare through the window.
Anna suddenly snapped her head towards Roberto. "That night, in the Mayor's estate, Sylvester's men attacked your family. But weren't both mafias on truce?" Anna asked out of the blue.
"Yes, we were on truce but the Sylvester's broke it. These Sylvester's people can never be trusted. We knew this would-" Roberto stopped his words midway and narrowed his eyes at Anna. "But how did you know that we were on truce?"
"Ah-that! I heard it on news one day." She lied and defended.
"I don't remember-" he mumbled doubtfully before shaking off his thought. "These news reporters are all eyes and ears." He shook his head before turning his attention on the road. Anna also turned back to staring through the window. After some good seconds of silent, Roberto spoke up again.
"The Sylvester's men were at the party for Leo. They came to kill the Underboss." Anna turned towards him and furrowed her eyebrows at him.
"Why they were only after Leo?"
"Because if they bring him down, the whole family goes down. He is the pillar of our family." Roberto explained.
"Where is he now?" Anna asked. Roberto couldn't help but glance at her amusedly.
"Are you worried about him right now?" He teased.
Anna looked away from him and crossed her arms over her chest. "Just asking." She shrugged off.
"He's at home. He mostly stays at home, right beside the Don. Want to meet him? I can take you with me." Roberto was really enjoying teasing her.
"No!" She snapped in wide eyes opened.
"Just kidding." he smiled.
Always Smile,
Happy Virus.
