Chapter - 31
Ansh
I kept thrashing each rogue that came into my vision, searching for their boss. They'll all pay for the pain they caused my mate.
I mind linked Trishna to take the kids and Sameera to safety and stay with Sapna. She was in her room with Sameera by her side.
Please keep her safe, Moon Goddess. I am begging you. Please, reciprocate my faith in you.
After that I was too emerged in ripping out the rogues, especially the vampires. I was careful as to not let any vampire bite me or plunge the silver knives they had into me.
I heard a painful cry coming from the direction where Arav stood. A vampire stabbed him with a silver knife. As I went to help him, a bunch of rogues jumped on me and I got busy handling them.I tried to mind link my pack members to help Arav. But everyone had their own fair share of trouble.
I was relieved when back up arrived at the right moment. Joseph called for a team of Super cops to help us in this final battle. The team consisted of 5 super cops of which two were werewolves, one vampire, one witch and one human who was an officer of higher ranking. They called him Chief. Arav seemed to be well acquainted with him.
With their assistance, we caught all the rogues and trapped them inside a magical cage brought by the super cop team, which prevented the rogues from using their powers.
There were losses on both sides. Two of my pack soldiers died during the fight, while more than a dozen rogues died, including both vampires and werewolves.
There were more than 30 casualties including Paras, Sameera and Arav. The human super cop got a broken shoulder and bleeding torso. I must say for a human, he really was a deserving super cop. So was their chief.
While Suyash and the witch super cop treated all those who were injured, the rest of us adults, minus Trishna, went to dig up some answers from those rogues. Circling around the high tech magical cage, my eyes fell upon their leader. The rogue who trespassed our lands more than a month ago.
"Time for a short conversation. Spill the beans." Said Joseph.
Keeping their bloodied faces blank as slate they kept their mouth shut.
"Answer. Why did you kidnap my mate? You could've just simply attacked my pack if you wanted it's ownership. Why all the fuss?" I asked.
Their leader, whose name was Sharad, smirked wide after which The vampire Super Cop electrocuted him with a bearable amount of electrical voltage. Then he started speaking. Well he had no other option. As I have been informed, in this cage, you either say the truth or not speak at all. Now that his mouth started spilling words, each word was going to be true. Just like Joseph's truth bubble.
"I don't want your weak pack. They can gain me nothing. I wanted the Sea Moon Pearl. The magical pearl whose strength is still unknown. Your ancestors have had possession of that pearl since centuries but never used it. So I decided to do the job myself. But only a true Alpha of your bloodline along with his Luna can retrieve the pearl from its hibernation. So I devised a plan to send my trusted witchling to be your Luna so that she could manipulate you into getting the pearl out of hibernation to steal it for me later." He started speaking like mechanically.
"But unfortunately your mate arrived to disrupt the equation. So I sent my most powerful vampires to eradicate her. They killed her weak father which resulted in her showing her true colours. She killed one of the 3 vampires. But she wasn't that powerful. My vampires would have finished her that night if not for that stupid human. She not only saved your injured mate but lead your whole pack to her."
That I owe to Sameera.
"So I devised another plan. I sent my witchling to replace your mate while holding the latter captive. I ordered her to block your mate bond connection to prevent you from knowing the truth. But your little mate was gifted. She used her gift to contact that human to let you know of her status. And the same happened. I tried to prevent her gift, but she was very cunning. I couldn't afford to kill her. First, she was a gifted Luna and second, my witchling needed to copy-paste her physical appearance in regular intervals to pose like the real Sapna."
That much I have already guessed.
"And as expected that stupid human intervened forcing me to poison my very own trusted witchling to prevent her from spilling out my plan. The next step was to kidnap and kill that stupid human in front of your mate, so she could stop disrupting my plans. But with her arrival, my plans changed. I knew you would come looking for her leaving your pack unprotected. But that werelock protected your pack with my witchling's essence. Too smart. I couldn't get in through that protection field, so I changed my plan, again. I don't like to change plans so frequently. Do you know how troublesome it is to devise a new plan in less than 10 seconds? But I am a genius."
Genius my foot. You are a bloody criminal.
I truly wanted to tear him apart by then. But it's better to let the law punish him.
"I installed a special chemical in fluid form inside your mate's blood stream, which was supposed to neutralize the forcefield you had around your pack territory. I decided to let them both escape to enter your pack and neutralize the protection field for us. My plan was to use your mate as a bait to make you get the Sea Moon Pearl for me. But a whole pack is a better bait than one single mate. So we attacked when you were least expecting it."
So that was his plan behind letting Sapna and Sameera escape easily.
"And I would have been successful if not for these super cops intervening in my plans. I never expected them to take interest in such a weak pack as yours. There I said it. Now let me go."
He roared out the demand, only to be zapped by the cage's security system.
Now I understand everything. The Sea Moon Pearl is an ancient pearl that was gifted to my ancestors centuries ago by the Moon Goddess herself. Ours is one of the ancient packs that formed in the beginning of the era of werewolves. The time when werewolves came to exist.
When? Well that's a fairly long story.
Ages ago, when vampires (the pure blood one's from hell) entered the human world, some of the devils and demons of hell considered them traitors and devised a plan to annihilate them all.
They created a specific breed of creatures who resembled the wolves of earth, but ferocious and scary with 5 inches long fangs and claws, pitch black medium fur covering their 6 foot tall frame and white as a paper eyes. Those were named as hell wolves by the earthlings later. They were created with the necessary abilities to sense and kill all the pure blood vampires that left hell for a peaceful life of disguise on earth. A single bite from the hell wolves was enough to spread a particular poison into a vampire's body, killing him within minutes.
They were let lose on earth to complete the task assigned to them, which they successfully completed up to an extent, killing half of the immigrant pure blood vampire population. But then they went out of control. Gradually, they started killing humans, animals, shifters and even some of the witches and warlocks. Though their poison wasn't capable of hurting anyone else but vampires, their teeth and claws were strong enough to shred anyone apart made of flesh and blood.
Considering the fatal situation, the angels and fairies pressurised the devils to take back their killer pets back into the underworld, which they agreed with considering their own creations were not abiding by their rules.
Towards the end of the extraction process, a particular pack of hell wolves, the most powerful and ferocious ones, broke through their master's control completely and escaped towards different parts of the world in small groups. The hell wolves preferred to stay in packs or at least small groups.
Finally, after a lot of efforts from the angels, witches, warlocks and shifters, the hell creatures were successful in capturing all the hell wolves on the earth. After they left with a half hearted apology, the earthlings realised this wasn't the happy ending after all. The shifters that were bitten by the hell wolves lost their ability to shift into any animal but a wolf, a huge and very wild one at that. They gained an unnaturally strong sense of vampire presence along with an unknown intense hostility towards them. They also preferred staying in larger groups rather than alone or in very small groups.
Gradually, it was concluded that the hell wolves somehow infected these people with their own biological abilities and tendencies. As word got out, the creators of the hell wolves convinced every supernatural species on Earth to kill the infected shifters anticipating they would cause the same chaos as that of the hell wolves. Everyone agreed, having no less cruel way of preventing a supposed menace.
After a few infected shifters were sacrificed for ensuring a safe future for the earthlings, the left off ones started seeking help from the greatest supernatural force of the universe. The God. And during an extraction, their prayers were answered by the Moon Goddess herself.
She assured everyone that none of the werewolves, as she addressed the infected shifters, would be harmful to any species in the world, except the vampires who attack us first. She decided to take responsibility for all the werewolves and devised a plan to stop us from going out of control in the near future. The mate bond.
Considering our presence as a way to keep any sort of evil vampiric activities in check, everyone agreed to let us live with dignity like any other species in the supernatural community. Plus who has the audacity to go against the wishes of a goddess, huh?
Since then werewolves started living in packs, our pack being one of the first 10 packs officiated in the beginning era of werewolves, my great great great greatest grandfather being one of the werewolves who fought for our existence and was blessed with the chance to meet with a goddess in his lifetime.
But the stories regarding the Sea Moon Pearl never initiated from our pack. The pearl was our biggest secret. Other packs were envious of us and started tales of how the powerful Sea Moon Pearl helped us maintain our stance in the supernatural community.
Though not completely, but the rumours were true to an extent. The Sea Moon Pearl have protected our pack from inner and outer threats as our pack believes. How? That's never been questioned or answered.
Hence, no one knows till date how much power the Sea Moon Pearl possess. And as for its location, that's a mystery even to myself. The only thing I know is that the path leading to the pearl lies inside in our pack lands, the door to which always stays locked and guarded by the elder and knowledgeable pack members.
But as per the ancient writings, a true Alpha along with his Luna will be able to retrieve the Sea Moon Pearl from its hibernation. When, how and who are questions not required to be answered for the present time. This piece of information is passed down to each generation of Alpha in our pack after their first shift.
"I hope you understood well, young Alpha. We don't need to elaborate on this Sea Moon Pearl stuff. You know better and so do I. Still I would like to warn you to be prepared. No one knows what the future holds. This attack will either scare or inspire other rogues who aim to get a hold of the ancient Sea Moon Pearl." The chief warned me of the possible consequences of today's events.
"I understand sir. And I will be on guard no matter what the future holds. Thanks for your help by the way. If not for your arrival, we would not have been able to win so easily with zero deaths."
I thanked him extending my hand towards him for a handshake. He accepted taking my hand in a friendly handshake. We all smiled to have won today's battle.
"That's our motto. Saving lives. Preventing unnecessary deaths. And hence, we would like to take our leave from here on. Joseph and Arav will help in repairing the damage caused here. We need to take these rogues to their respective court of Justice." I nodded in agreement.
The criminals of a particular species are to be judged by their own council only. No other supernatural species council can judge them. Except for the higher most council and that too only in case of emergencies. But that process is very time consuming.
"Let's go team." He said and went straight to his ride followed by his team and the cage full of defeated rogues.
The van took off flying in the sky like an airplane, just like Joseph's vehicle. Though this one was bigger than Joseph's. It's time I go perform my Alpha duties. The first one being informing the werewolf council of the rogue attack.
Joseph went to the infirmary and I helped my pack getting everything settled in place. The two super cops and the human female have indebted me with their help.
But this has been a big lesson to me. Small or big, strong or weak, I should never underestimate the chances of being under attack. Sometimes even the small and weak can do great things.
And another important lesson I learned is that not all humans are weak, selfish and greedy. Sameera and Arav have proved my stereotypes wrong. They have reminded me of the reason as to why each supernatural species agreed to keep the human race safe and protected in the first place.
