Chapter - 30
Arav
I instructed her to wait for me but will she ever listen to me? No. She had to leave for the pack house all alone. Why does she think she can deal with everything alone?
I just went to visit Satish cause he called me saying it's an emergency. What was the emergency? He needed a drive home.
His car was stolen an hour ago. Even police officers are not safe from thieves these days. Actually it was my fault to tell him I was on breakfast break.
The second I got her text, I went straight to her apartment. She already left 20 minutes ago. I left Satish there at her apartment and went to find her. I never saw her on the way to the pack. And to my utter shock, she never reached the pack territory.
Fearing the worst I went into the forest to search for her. She has a tendency to get lost in the forest. But unfortunately there was no trace of her. Trishna followed me only to reveal that she got Sameera's scent nearby accompanied by an unfamiliar vampire's scent.
There was no doubt that she was kidnapped. Hence, here I am in my car looking for her traces all around the city. Joseph and Ansh insisted on accompanying me leaving Paras and Trishna on guard. We have been searching for her for hours now, but found nothing. So we decided to follow the location where Sapna is held captive.
And to our surprise, the mansion was empty. No traces left behind.
Is this any kind of joke? Did they find out about our plans? So they left. Have they taken Sameera too? Did they hurt her.
But then Joseph spoke, relaxing my haywire thoughts, "Follow the coordinates. Wherever they have relocated Sapna, we can trace her, remember."
He took the driver's seat. I kept my eyes open for Sameera.
Following Sapna's location, we reached near the pack territory. Why are they taking her their? This question bothered the 3 of us while we found the answer to it. On the ground below, stood Sameera beside a white furred wolf. That was undoubtedly Sapna as Ansh's pleasure knew no bounds to see her.
We landed in front of them. As soon as I got out, Sameera smiled wide as ever and ran towards me. Ansh got out faster than air and hugged Sapna who stood there in her human form. She looked so hurt and so did Sameera.
Sameera stopped in front of me for a split second. Before I could say something, she hugged me tight folding her hands around my neck.
I hugged her as well, keeping my hold on her back less tight than her own pincer grab around my already sore neck.
"I missed you." We both whispered to each other in unison.
I wanted to stay rooted in that position for a little while, comforting her. But then I remembered she is due for a lecture.
"I told you not to leave alone. Couldn't you wait for another 20 minutes? Do you have any idea what could have happened to you? You were kidnapped by freaking rogues. Do you have any idea how dangerous it could've been?"
She put her index finger on my lips and said, "Sshhh. I know. And I am sorry. I should've waited for you. I wanted to in fact, but........never mind. I'll explain later. But for now we should get going. You see those kidnappers had no idea how to treat their captives. So ill mannered they were, weren't they Sapna?" She complained sarcastically.
Sapna nodded in assertion. We lead them to the car and rode back to the pack lands.
On the way we got them both some breakfast and clothing. They devoured the food like they haven't eaten in years.
I'm gonna kill those rogues.
I could see the rage radiating from Ansh seeing his mate in such a state. Sapna clung to him throughout ride.
After calming down, they explained everything that has happened to them during their captivity and how they escaped. As much as I wanted to praise them for such an amazing escapade, we all knew something was off. They escaped way too easily.
"I know what you all are thinking this was very easy. It seems like they let us out themselves for some reason. They must be planning something different. I just don't know what?" That came from Sapna.
"We will figure that out soon. For now let's get you to a safe place. And what place could be safer than home?" Said Ansh.
We all entered the pack territory. Everyone were overjoyed to see their real Luna's return. Suyash treated Sapna and Sameera's injuries in the pack house. They rested in Sapna's room while we were brainstorming to figure out the next step of those rogues.
"Why did they let them out so easily? What are they planning exactly? Letting them go at this point is so silly. Much a do about nothing." I pointed out.
I have been talking too much since this morning. More like worrying myself and everyone else.
"Calm down Arav. Be quite and let me think clearly." Said Joseph.
Before I could say anything else, a shriek came from downstairs. It was Trishna's voice. We went downstairs, armed as we were, to see the living room full of black hooded rogue vampires. They had Trishna captive. She was leaning down, her face contorted in pain from the vice grip on her hairs.
"How did you get in? The forcefield?" Asked Ansh.
But his question was interrupted by someone who entered the house in black ninja like attire, covered in black from head to toe. His face was hooded completely, showing only the two light green eyes.
He opened his hood slowly. I saw his face and recognized him instantly. It was the same rogue wolf I saw the night I came into the forest to investigate in Sameera's place.
"I expected a better greeting. I have heard you are very welcoming towards outsiders these days, Alpha." He spoke, failing to hide the malice in his voice.
"How did you come through the forcefield?" Ansh asked.
"Your forcefield was the only barrier we never saw coming. So we changed our plan. Your little mate has a little something in her that allowed us all a free entry pass into your pack." He replied.
So that's why the girls were able to escape so easily. Those rogues did something to Sapna.
"Now that's enough talk for now. Boys, attack." On his command all of them charged at us.
Joseph took out his wand and fought with his spells. Ansh took his wolf form and charged at them while some other wolves came in from the door attacking a dozen rogue vampires.
I took out my gun from my belt pocket. Finally, I get to apply my special training on field. This gun is also special. It paralyzes the target for a minimum of 10 minutes. New human recruits are permitted only this freeze gun for their initial missions.
I froze a few rogues, though they were very fast that it wasn't easy to shoot at a particular target. Wish I had better offensive weapons rather than this defensive one.
Then I noticed 3 rogues going towards Sapna's room.
Sameera. I must get her to safety first. Sapna is a wolf, she can take care of herself. But Sameera can't.
I followed them into Sapna's room and took those two at once. Luckily, I had two guns at my disposal. The other one ran out of the window. Such a scaredy cat for a rogue.
I scanned the room to find Sapna in her wolf form, hiding Sameera behind her. Seeing me, Sameera came out of her hiding, and hugged me as tight as possible. She kept me glued to her for a few seconds before letting go of me. She looked utterly terrified.
"Are you hurt?" She asked scanning me from top to bottom in search of any visible injuries.
Frankly speaking, I did the same. Thankfully she had no injuries, yet.
"I am fine. You are forgetting I am a super cop. I have been thoroughly trained for these situations. But you aren't. So, take this." I handed her one of the freeze guns.
I can't defend her while fighting with the rogues. And I can't fight pondering over her safety.
I noticed how excited she was to hold a real gun in her hands, for the first time. But the smile on her face died down instantly. "I don't think I am allowed to use an official police gun." She pouted, half excited to use it and half inhibited to go against supernatural law.
Yeah like you always abide by the rules.
I chuckled a little saying, "Well this is an exceptional situation. And this is a freeze gun. It will freeze the target for at least 10 minutes. Use this to get to safety. And don't worry about me. I have another one. It has 100 shots. Well, 95 for now. Go."
She hesitated for a minute but I assured her of my safety and signalled Sapna to take her. She nuzzled into Sameera, asking her to hop on her furry back. She got on Sapna's back and they left, jumping down the broken window.
Getting outside I found Ansh and Joseph outside fighting with the rogues. Approximately, there were more than 30 rogues of which nearly 18 were werewolves.
Using my amazing karate moves I fought with those rogues.
Actually no. Just kidding.
Being a human, I am very delicate to their touch. They can tear me apart from limb to limb in a snap. Hence, I relied mostly on my freeze gun, keeping a keen look around my surroundings for threats.
The pack members fought with all their might in their respective wolf forms. Somehow Trishna escaped from their clutches and was busy taking the kids to a safe place. Paras covered for her.
And suddenly I felt a sharp pain in my stomach. Looking down I found a small silver knife plunged into my torso. I didn't notice how fast that vampire came towards me with a knife.
Taking out the knife from my body by my left hand, I kept shooting with my right hand. It became a little harder to shoot the target properly. Though silver isn't as harmful for humans as it is for werewolves, I still felt infinite pain and a slight dizziness. This must be some special spelled silver knife.
And to make matters worse, another vampire attacked me from behind. I saw Ansh trying to come to help me. But he was immediately tackled by a pair of rogue wolves. I cried out in pain. I could feel my shoulder bones breaking. All of my trials to compose myself went in vain. On verge of unconsciousness, I started praying to the almighty God to help us. When all doors are closed down, God opens his door to help us.
And my prayers were answered when the vampire trying to break my bones fell to the ground. Looking back I found my saviour.
Chief. The person who appointed me as a super cop. My mentor. The super cop who believed in me. He must be very disappointed to see my inability to even protect myself, let alone others.
He stood there giving out his signature grin. "I am proud of you son. We will take up from here." He said and charged on the rogues with his team.
Am I hallucinating? Did he just say he's proud of me?
I recognized one tall vampire from his team. Other's faces were unfamiliar to me. Then Joseph appeared in front of me taking me somewhere I couldn't see. He was saying something I couldn't hear properly.
My eyes closed on their own. Now I can die peacefully, knowing I justified my duty. It was satisfying enough to know that my friends would be safe. Sameera would be safe.
