Sapna

This is the happiest day of my life. I was so mesmerized by his words that rendered me speechless. I just kept staring at him with adoration.

Breaking the romantic silence he spoke, "It's your turn."

Huh. My turn for what? His phrase confused me. What does he expect me to do? Does he want me to profess my love for him?

And then I remembered. Of course.

"I, Sapna Gupta, accept you, Ansh Rawat, Alpha of the Sea moon pack, as my mate." I stated the sentence in a firm tone, with a real, genuine, joyous smile plastered on my face. I already felt like a Luna. His Luna.

But officially, I can't be his Luna until the 'mating ceremony' takes place. For us werewolves, mating ceremony is a form of marriage, where we take blessings from the Moon Goddess to proclaim our mate bond. Just the thought of it made me smile even wider if possible. We were both lost in each other's eyes. And then realisation hit me.

"Oh no. I have to hurry back. It's 7 PM already. Dad would be worried about me. I have been out for more than 3 hours." It completely slipped my mind.

I had left the bag of groceries somewhere on the way here. I have to find it and go back home.

"I can take you back. If it's alright with you. And your father."

I knew what he meant.

A lone wolf blaming an alpha for his mate's death won't be thrilled to find another alpha as his daughter's mate. If dad sees him with me right away, he won't process it well. Not that he won't smell his scent on me anyway.

"No, it's better if I break the news to him personally before he gets to meet you. So, it's better for me to go back by myself. Thanks for your offer by the way." I said and searched for the grocery bags. Found them.

"Fine. But I wanna walk you to the taxi. You can't deny that."

How can I when you are asking so politely?

I nodded in agreement and we walked out of the woods.

"And I want to meet your dad as soon as possible. Let me know if I I'll visit your house or you are coming to our pack first." He said in his stern alpha tone.

Guess all alphas are used to ordering everyone around them. Even their mates.

I couldn't find any reasonable reason to deny his continuous requests to help me, so I let him. He happily took the grocery bags from me, holding them in his right hand. Alpha strength I tell you.

He took my right hand in his left hand and we walked ahead, hand in hand. Oh, how romantic that was.

He booked a cab for me ignoring my protests. He gave me his number to call him later when I reach home, along with a lingering peck on both of my shoulders.

We waved each other goodbye, and the cab took me straight to my doorstep. To my surprise, he already paid for the cab. Is he seriously trying to impress me even though I already belong to him? Cause it's working. And now the difficult part.

"Where have you been this late, Sapna. Don't tell me it took you 3 hours for grocery shopping, or you got stuck in traffic. I told you to be careful and not wander around. Why are you getting so stubborn these days? Answer me."

Dad spoke with disappointment and worry evident in each syllable. But I know he can never stay mad at me no matter what I do. He is the best father in this world.

"Dad believe me I was careful. And I wasn't stalling around. The thing is, t- today, in the woods, I found my m-mate." I replied, hoping this conversation goes well.

"Your mate? Where? How?" He asked.

"After getting the groceries, I got his scent and followed it. You know how that works. I just couldn't stop. He sensed me too. We met in the nearby woods." I said.

Dad's solid commando like hard expression didn't budge.

He came near me, cupping my cheeks, he spoke, "I am so happy for you my dear. I am glad you found your mate. I told you this will be a good start for us. You are happy for this, right?" He has always considered my choice first.

"Yes dad, I am happy. I really like him. He behaved so well with me today. He is very good and has a noble heart. He accepted me without a second thought even when I told him our current situation. He wants to meet you soon. He asked if you want him to come visit at our house or wanna meet at his pack house." My voice was full of amusement.

"His pack house? Does he own the pack house?" He caught it right away.

Hope he doesn't make this an issue. I took a deep breath and released it before I began to speak again.

"He does own the pack house as It's his ancestral home. His name is Ansh Rawat. He is the Alpha of the Sea moon pack that resides in the woods." I replied which made the smile fade away from dad's lips.

Before dad could say anything against Ansh, I started speaking in his defence.

"Dad please, don't judge him yet. He is really a good person. He accepted me even after knowing my bloodline and our conflict with our previous alpha. It doesn't matter to him that I am not strong enough to be a Luna. He is willing to go against his pack's opinions for me. I felt his love for me the instant we imprinted on each other."

He still held a blank face. This suspense was killing me.

"You know how I feel about our alpha. But I am not a prejudiced person. All alphas aren't the same. If the Moon Goddess chose him for you, he must be worthy." His words lifted a weight from me.

"But I would like to assess him personally. In his own pack. We are going to meet him soon. Tell him to send his address. Don't tell him when we will be visiting. I don't want to be escorted by anyone of his pack." And then he went towards the dining table. The dinner passed in pure silence.

After cleaning the dishes I went to my room and lay on the bed. I took my phone and saved his number. Then I texted him.

Sapna - Hi. It's Sapna.

And immediately he replied,

Ansh - I was waiting for you to either call or text. How was your ride home?

Sapna - It was fine. Though, I would have much preferred you hadn't paid for the ride in advance. Anyways, thanks.

Ansh- The pleasure is all mine, love.

I am already melting into the mattress.

Sapna- Can you send me your address. I talked to dad about us and he agreed to meet you. He wants to visit at your pack.

Ansh - I could come pick you up myself.

Sapna - No thanks. Dad strictly asked for no escorts. Just send the address.

Ansh - Okay. I'll be waiting. Good night. Dream about me. I'll be dreaming about you.

Sapna - Good night.

I did dream about him later in a rather romantic scenario.

Two days later dad and I went for a visit to the address he sent us. In the woods. I wasn't surprised.

We met many other pack members their. Some were working, some working out. Some kids were playing.

Ansh's beta Paras greeted and accompanied us to the pack house. The house had two floors, and a balcony. I have always wanted a balcony in my house. All the houses in the pack were made of wood. I totally loved the environment. And not to mention how sweet the pack members were.

Especially Ansh's sister, Trishna. She has this bright ocean blue eyes, complimenting her fair skin tone and black hair which makes her the most beautiful female in the pack. She has a very calm and understanding nature. Paras is very lucky to have her.

After some snacks and a few minutes of awkward silence, dad asked for a private talk with Ansh. I was practically sweating with anxiety. Paras and his mate Trishna tried their best to calm me down. All of them had a calm demeanor except for me.

After maybe half an hour, Ansh and my dad came into the living room with a satisfied smirk glued to both their faces. What exactly did they talk about? And all of my questions were answered when dad announced that we will be joining the pack. He agreed for us to be together.

His exact words were, "I am impressed with your mate. I approve of your union, my child." All the while smiling genuinely at Ansh.

I will have to ask Ansh what they talked behind the closed doors, as dad won't be giving me anything on their conversation.

After our visit, we have stayed connected through our cellphones, as dad prohibited him to enter our house. Dad finished the paperwork for moving out of the apartment in the time being. Today we are moving into his pack. 'My pack', as Ansh states.

Thank goodness we never had much luggage moving from one place to other in the last few months. Now we are gonna have a place to call our home. Forever.

I was so eager to reach there, but call it a Jinx or what, we were stuck in traffic for two hours. Frustrated, dad finally decided to walk from there on our own.

When we reached the entryway of the forest, it was already past 7 pm. Today is full moon. We have agreed on to hold the mating ceremony on the full moon night next month. Dad says we should wait for a while longer. But none of us wants to wait.

Walking towards the pack house we noticed a huge, thick tree trunk fallen on the ground. Holding our hands together we jumped over it. But when I landed a powerful breeze hit us like a wave of storm and we landed on our back a few meters away.

Our luggage bags scattered around us. My back hurt from the force of landing. But one thing was clear. That was no wind. We were under attack.

Dad and I stood on our feet not long after to notice 3 human figures in front of us, laughing like maniacs. But they weren't humans.

I got their scent the moment they hit us. And I recognized it. They were our enemies. Enemies of all the werewolf species on Earth. They were Vampires.
