Sometimes it's the smallest decision that can change your life forever.

Emily Clarence POV * * *

I signed the bottom of the contract with my signature above my name, closed the contract with the cover, then held it to the middle-aged man who had a genuine smile in front of me. The guy has infamous attractive silver-white hair but you will be surprised that he'd recently turn 60 a few days ago, everyone says the same thing about him. He looks 10 years younger than his current age.

"I am sure President Eric would be pleased to hear this news, Ms. General Manager Emily Clarence." He politely said while shaking my hand.

I'd secretly rolled my eyes after his gleeful remarks, however, he saw my reaction before I had a chance to hide it, and it was indeed a wrong move because he was now giving me the sharp eye.

"From now on you will be called the general manager of this hotel so you need to get used to it Emily— I mean 'General Manager." He sternly stated.

To be honest, they have been constantly bugging me to sign this contract for more than a year now. Yet today, I submitted to their agenda because 'I needed it.'

"...by the way, I want to inform you that you will be transferred to your new office tomorrow morning. Everything is prepared, you have nothing to worry about, you just need to start your work when the night ends."

I tried my best not to roll my eyes for the second time at how fast the things seemed to move, yet my audible sigh always betrayed me now and then. Though I can't help it to feel this way, because knowing the place that I somehow get used to for a while, will be changed after the day ends.

"These things... are a bit too fast for me Henry, don't you think it's quite odd? I worked here for more or less two years now.—"

"It's three." He corrected and slightly nodded as if he was going to hear some nonsense statement. Again. And yet, I didn't know he was counting it.

Henry Spears was my late father's best friend. He was like a father to me, and no less he always treated me as his child. This charming guy was also well known as the uncompromising executive secretary of the world-famous multi-billionaire, Mr. Eric Anderson.

The ruthless president of the Anderson Empire, the man who controls and manipulates the cruises and ports of almost the entire seven continents, and most importantly, the father of my ultimate girl crush since high school.

"Okay three, but still I think I'm not experienced enough for this position. I mean, there are so many candidates there who deserve it more than me. Though I'm not complaining or any I'm just stating a fact."

It sounded more like complaining than being grateful but don't get me wrong, I honestly desire this position because that's what I wanted from the very beginning. Thus, I can't erase the fact that I'm still young and inexperienced. I am afraid I couldn't meet their standards, I'm still in my mid-twenties and three years ago I just got my college diploma and a couple of minutes ago, I become one of Anderson's general managers.

I heard him sigh and briefly shut his eyes probably controlling himself to utter inconvenient words. Just like my dad, and thinking about dad made me feel... sad.

"as the president said, you have talent and skills. He believes in you, and you also need to believe in yourself. You are not just a general manager, Emily. But you are also Clarence, don't forget that." That being said, I think someone slapped me on my face.

"I'm sure, Anthony will be very proud if he was here with us like I am to you, Emily." I smiled when he mentioned my father. From the bottom of my heart, I always want my father to be proud, even though he is no longer around anymore.

"Besides, your work experience was enough proof that you are qualified rather than overqualified. Do you want me to elaborate on it? Even without on the record?" He playfully asked while waving the contract in the air before he tucked it underneath his armpit.

"...enough of this drama, aren't we had enough of this? Chill child! I am sure this is just the beginning and believe me, you would change everything from now on, honey." I swear, I think I've felt chills when his eyes meet mine as if it was a spell or something.

"Err? Was this about the celebration that has been... interrupted?" My eyebrow arched when I remembered something.

"Rejected is the word. One out of many changes you would bring dear. Who was the insane person who rejected a grand party that the president himself offered?" I rolled my eyes and briefly shook my head in resignation. So it was.

"I know I was insane sir and thank you for the compliment."

The celebration for the nines! Or whatever! First, I thought it was just a small gathering like a normal gathering but no, and based on what I've heard, they were planning a big party which is not necessary. So I did everything to prevent it to happen. And recently, I am trying hard to find the culprit because the issue spread like wildfire, and guess what, I got a suspect now.

"See! Even an insult becomes a compliment. Two out of many"

I was about to say something but I've been interrupted when he checked his wristwatch causing him to jolt a little.

"Oh, dear! I have to go, I'm almost late! The CEO will arrive soon after receiving her award. We both know she didn't have a word delay in her vocabulary. That girl, She's truly portraying Anderson's bad habits, don't you think?"

~*~

It wouldn't take a genius to figure, out who he was about. I know almost half of the world knows her name, she's the number one icon of every girl of this generation. Or as tabloids say, the Maria Antonette of the new generation. She's also one of the world-famous CEOs who won several awards for three consecutive years now and her reign is continually growing or better say, it's unstoppable.

When she took over her family's business, she was like an investment magnet, she even got a called name in the business world, and magazines and all publishing companies even tabloids are also well informed.

'The living Midas hands.'

everything she plans turned out to be profitable, that's why she gain that title or perhaps she just claimed the title as if it was her surname. That girl didn't know the word 'enough'. From supermarkets, malls, fuel companies, and so on, but she was still not satisfied. She was probably aiming to conquer the world goal or something.

And rumor has it, Anderson's didn't have the word 'delay' in their vocabulary, they are very authoritative and possessive, yet I am surprised when the president waited for almost a year for me to sign the contract. Maybe I am somewhat excepted or perhaps they have eyes on a potential investment. I just wish I were.

"Oh wait! I almost forgot! from what I've heard, Megan currently has her tantrums, hmm... boyfriend problems and I think it's getting messy this time. By the way, this is the first-hand info, you better treat me to lunch next time."

He playfully winked in my direction before he went away, causing me to giggle silently. And Guess you already know whose my liable spy is now.

For some unknown reason I felt a small pinch every time I will hear the words 'her boyfriend' but I know to myself that I was just admiring her because who doesn't? She's beautiful like a lost descendant of Aphrodite, talented and intelligent like Athena though she's also the popular ruthless evil queen and the reincarnation of Hades. But, I guess, it doesn't mean she's evil. Maybe, she is just copping to the environment she has that's probably why she acted that way. But to be honest I found it appealing while watching her from afar. 'My evil icy queen, Megan'

~*~

After a few hours of work, my phone sounded. I fished out for my phone and by just knowing the caller, I felt my lips stretch for a smile.

Jake Spencer. My suitor.

I have to admit that I have a huge crush on a certain girl but just that's it. I have my own life to live and I am happy that many are appreciating my existence, however, I have to also admit that no one made me feel what I feel for Megan. Being a big fan has a very big disadvantage sometimes.

It was funny because I am nobody but just one of many avid fans of hers and the fact that we're both girls complicates everything. She's The Megan Anderson for God's sake. She is the wildest dream of all men and the fact that she has a boyfriend who is also a CEO of a huge company; that only means she's definitely out of my reach. I know even thinking that I could be with her even just for a night was way too far, An impossible quest for nothing. Definitely and most certainly, she's beyond attractive that's why I feel this way.

So to live my own life, and put my feet on the ground, I dated this guy named, Jake Spencer.

I have no bad comments for Jake, he is sweet, a true gentleman, and believe it or not, he is like a living prince from a fairy tale. Beautiful blue eyes, tall, strong cheeks bone, athletic body, and a killer smile that probably many girls have melted. He is the living person for the word 'handsome'. Though he's a bit mysterious most of the time.

"Good Morning My beautiful Emily Clarence, this is Jake Spencer one of Olympus Gods and from Olympus itself. I called to remind you about our date today. I know you are very busy that's why I reminding you. I hope you didn't forget."

Jake started on the other line in a very theatrical way. I could guess he was smirking on the other line, I know him though we only dated for quite some time now, and I've learned something that he usually does.

I cleared my throat to test my voice if it is still intact because this guy knows how to flatter a girl.

"I'm sorry but I need to check my schedule, have you already contacted my secretary about this meeting? Because she didn't inform me a thing... not at all, who is this again?" I needed to purse my lips to contain my laughter but it was hard especially when he paused too long that I thought he hang-up.

"God Emily, I'm too handsome to be easily forgotten, but if you insist... please let me talk to your secretary." He sounds desperate in my observant ears. But from there I couldn't contain my laughter, I heard his defeated sigh in the other line afterward.

"It wasn't funny, Emily."

"I was just kidding Jake, to be honest, I know you well enough Mr. Spencer so don't be mad. I'm just finishing some stuff then signing some papers and I'll be good to go."

"It still wasn't funny Ms. Clarence, you hurt me, deeply. You deeply wounded my glass heart." He sounded like a child.

"Hey, I'm sorry, okay. I'm just happy to hear from you. Anyway, I have good news so stop being upset Mr. Jake Spencer from Olympus."

"I can't wait to see you, hurry up and meet me. I also have a surprise for you. Love you, Emily."

"Okay, see ya."

"Too many blessings? Ms. Cla—oops! Miss. General. Manager." My secretary said in a sing-a-song tone and she has this meaningful smile. I just rolled my eyes as I heard my new title, I'm still not used to it and Amy my secretary knows it very well.

"Yes, and I am thankful for everything. I believe the tides are favoring my side now, I hope it continues especially for my mom."

Amy Johnson is my secretary and my best friend from college, she knows everything about me and my admiration for Megan. She knew me inside and out and as well to her. We're sisters from different wombs was the best description.

"Let's pray for that okay? Anyways! Before anything else, please don't tell me my position rise a little somehow, am I?" She asked while handling some files for me and the cleverness in her voice was evident in my ears.

"Of course my dearest Amy, I can't leave without you remember?" Amy is a great friend and a secretary, I'd couldn't ask for more. She's the best person I have and a dearest friend of mine.

"Oh please... Stop! You know very well that Jeremy is a member of the jealous husband club right?"

"Oh! It still exists?" She rolled her eyes.

"For him, yes it is! Anyways, you got a meeting tomorrow morning. Mr. Spears told me a while ago before he leaves."

"I see, who are the attendees?"

"Attendee is the right word, GM"

"Then, who is this attendee?" There was a long pause before she briefly sighed.

"The Chief executive officer herself, Miss Megan Anderson."

I quickly raised my head to look at her if she was serious or not, I am surprised my head didn't break. But Amy smiled at me instead, reading my eyes, she knows I was surprised. I blink a few times to shrug it then turned my head again to the papers that needed to be signed.

"I see," I replied but I heard her groan disappointedly.

"I'd thought we already anticipated this thing before, haven't we? We both knew this thing will happen, sooner or later, but you have your Jake now right? So, I don't think there will be any problem—Or perhaps you need a girl version of jake. Geez! Being a big fan is quite... difficult."

"Yeah I know and will you please stop that, you are not making sense."

She smiled cleverly as her response but then she suddenly stopped midway as if she'd remembered something very important.

"What?" I beamed pretending to be annoyed.

"I heard Megan has a problem with her boyfriend, do you think there's a third party involved, or perhaps a breakup already?" Amy's favorite habit was to throw random questions as if I know the answer. It's been her illness ever since we were in college.

"That is top secret information, how did you know that?"

"I have my ways and besides, I'm a 'secretary' remember, there's no secret I shouldn't know." She quoted the word "secretary" in the air. I chuckled and hissed playfully at her so she will go out into my office as she eventually did.

As soon as Amy closed the door, my smile instantly disappears and an audible sigh escaped from my mouth, I didn't know I am holding my breath that long.

Knowing the fact that I will see my long-time crush made my heart do some backflips. Nervous is an understatement but I guess I am also excited to meet her. In-person.

As Amy says, I knew there will be a time like this because I am working in one of her hotels. My only hope for now is we easily get along. Friends perhaps. That's the biggest wish I wanted to happen.

But I can't shove the statement about the third party in Megan's relationship, it made me feel sad, pitiful, and mad altogether at the same time.

Mad, because first, why would the guy find someone else other than Megan? 'Does he do drugs? or gone insane? Or both perhaps.' he is crazy! Megan is a total package! What a dimwitted man he is, exchanging Megan with someone else. He doesn't deserve Megan.

Second, sad. Megan didn't deserve to be fooled, she deserves to be loved unconditionally. Her beauty must be written in poems and songs just to give justice to the things she was doing for the economy.

Third pity, if only I knew whoever the third party is, I will personally warn her who she's messing with. Knowing Megan made me feel pity for the third party, entirely. It was like, she grabbed a huge rock only to hammer it to herself in a very painful way. Megan is the description of trouble and disaster.

Just imagining what might happen, my head already aching with pity for the third party. "Poor thing," I mumbled silently to myself.
