The beautiful middle-aged merwoman from before came up to us as the ancient merwoman swam back to her seat. "All apprentices please report to Fight Class and sea witches to the board room for a meeting."

I had no idea where I was going but I just followed where all the other apprentices were going. Sometimes following the crowd can be a good thing. In moderation of course.

They led me to a large arena with a grey haired, stern looking instructor waiting for us. "Alright class, pair up." She commanded.

We split into pairs and I ended up with a cheerful , blonde haired, blue eyed girl , who introduced herself as Aela . She seemed nice but I was soon distracted by an absolutely stunning, brooding mergil. She had dark, almost black, brown eyes, ebony black hair and shockingly pale skin.

"Show us what you've got."The instructor finished.

 I wasn't ready because I was too busy staring at the black haired beauty. Unfortunately, my opponent was ready.

She charged at me and grabbed me by the waist. In one swift movement she flipped me over and I landed on my back. Without thinking, I dragged her down with me and we grappled for control. She won, but I kicked her off my chest and leapt back onto my feet. Fighting was one of the subjects I'm actually good at, thank  the goddess. I went to hit her but she grabbed my tail and used my momentum against me, leaving me sprawled on the floor. Before I could anything she had me pinned to the mat.

"You fight well for a newbie." Aela said as she helped me up.

 We spent the rest of the lesson going back to the basics and improving my technique. I was a naturally good fighter but working with Aela and the instructor, Holly, showed me just how much I had to learn. My old fighting instructor was a lazy merman who couldn't really care less about his students, except the Jocks and Sea Bitches of course. As you can see, I was enjoying having an instructor who actually cared about what they were doing.

After we finished sparring, it was time for lunch. "Do you want to come sit with us? " 

Aela asked. I nodded and we headed over to a table in the cafeteria where two other girls were already eating. The first was a girl that looked exactly like Aela, but with more freckles, and the second was the beautiful mergil from Fight Class. 

" Hey, I'm Skiara, and as you can probably tell, I'm Aela's twin sister." She greeted me with a cheeky smile. 

" Hey gorgeous, I'm Kenrita but my friends call me Rita." The stunning black haired girl said with a smooth grin.

" Stop that! You'll scare new girl away. Sorry, I didn't catch your name..." Skiara trailed off. 

" It's Miara. My name, that is." I looked down embarrassed by my sudden lack of language skills. It must of been my proximity to Kenrita.

We went and lined up for lunch, a delicious bowl of kelp stew, and headed back to the table. We swam into a heated discussion about who was hotter, Liam Hemsworth or Zac Effron. " Skiara, Miara back me up here! Liam Hemsworth is way hotter then Zac Effron. I am right or am I right?" Aela pleaded. 

" Twin, I am siding with you solely on the fact of our Twinness." Skiara replied. 

"Miara as a sane mer-being, you have to admit Zac Effron is far hotter." 

" Well I don't really swing that way, but I do like Zac Effron better, purely because black hair and brown eyes is my type." I said before blushing as I realized that was one way to describe Kenrita. 

"I'm glad to hear that." Kenrita smirked. 

"Ew! Cut it out you two!"Aela said with fake disgust and she and Skiara burst out laughing.

Anarkra and a similar looking merwoman swam into the cafeteria, interrupting our maybe-flirting. 

"This is Miara, " Anarkra told the merwoman next to her. 

" And I'm Mithara, Kenrita's mentor. I need to grab her, she still has more study to do." Mithara introduced herself and Kenrita and her swam back towards the main corridor. 

" So do you, Miara. Let's go." Anarkra said and I waved to my new friends before we swam home
