14. Panic Fainting
Daichi looked at Oikawa, who grinned. He shook his head. "I'm not asking."
"Oh come on it'll be funny."
"It's not that funny." Daichi looked up and his eyes widened. "Speaking of those two, Akaashi doesn't look too good. Neither does Bokuto."
"True." Oikawa grabbed his notepad. "I've got them."
He walked up and was quickly cut off by Kuroo walking across his path. He just shook his head and kept walking. Kuroo then stopped by Bokuto's table. Oikawa internally groaned but just rolled with it.
"Hey Kuroo."
"Fuck off for a second Oikawa."
"Bruh."
Kuroo rolled his eyes and faced Bokuto. "We need to talk."
"No."
"We are going to talk."
Bokuto sighed. "Kuroo please I've been feeling off all day and we're just trying to get some fresh air."
"Off how? Huh? Feeling so anxious you're gonna faint? Again?"
Akaashi eyed Kuroo. "Please leave us alone."
"You two on a date?"
"No."
Oikawa walked up behind Kuroo. "Yo I need to take their order. Go find a table."
Kuroo shook his head. "This is usually my table."
Bokuto sighed and nodded to Akaashi. Akaashi stood and so did he. Bokuto faltered for a moment before gripping the table. "Whew."
Oikawa pushed Kuroo out of the way and got Bokuto back in his seat. "Are you okay?"
"I-I'm okay."
Daichi came out of the kitchen with a water. "You look pale dude."
"Thanks." Bokuto closed his eyes and took a deep breath. "Guess I'm not feeling up to pizza today. Sorry guys."
"It's okay." Oikawa touched his forehead. "You feel okay. Your blood pressure must have dropped."
Akaashi gently held his hand, worried. "I can get you some medicine if you'd like."
"I uh- I-" Bokuto slumped forward and Daichi caught him.
"Good God."
Akaashi hurried to hold him up as well. "That's three times he's fainted today. It worries me."
"Me too. Has he eaten?"
"He said he feels too anxious to eat."
"Poor thing," Oikawa whispered. He tapped Bokuto's shoulder. "Ko. Man, you need to eat."
Bokuto's head lifted slightly and he stared. His vision blurred and he shakily sighed. "Puke."
Oikawa grabbed a trash can and pushed it closer. "Did you even sleep last night?"
Akaashi shook his head. "He slept for an hour. I don't know what happened."
Bokuto's head dropped for a moment before he lifted it on his own. "Sorry."
Daichi shook his own head. "Don't be sorry. You need to go home Kotarou. This isn't healthy."
"Yeah, yeah." Bokuto gulped. He looked to Akaashi. "He can't drive."
"I can." Daichi stood. "Come on, let's get you home."
Bokuto groaned. "I'm gonna hurl."
Oikawa grabbed the trash can again. Akaashi touched Bokuto's back and immediately all nausea went away. Bokuto relaxed a bit. Kuroo glared at Akaashi, well aware of what he had just done. Akaashi glanced at him and smiled nervously. Kuroo glared.
"You guys do know that Akaashi isn't supposed to be here, right?"
Oikawa glanced at him. "Huh?"
"He's not from here."
"And?"
"He's not normal and doesn't act normal. It's not right that he's here."
Daichi furrowed his brows. "Kuroo I thought you and him were friends?"
Akaashi got closer to Bokuto. He hated every moment Kuroo was in sight. He made everything worse.
Bokuto shuddered. "Kuroo leave him alone."
"I'm right and you know it."
Bokuto turned his head, glaring. "You know why he acts like that."
Akaashi looked away.
"He's not normal!"
"I was abused, Kuroo! Simple as that! Leave me alone about how I act!"
Bokuto sighed. He grabbed Akaashi's hand. "Come on. We're going home."
Oikawa grabbed Bokuto's other hand. "Daichi, I'm taking my break now to drive them home."
"Got it."
Oikawa led them outside to his car and got Bokuto inside the car first. He held Akaashi outside of it, worried. "I am so sorry Kuroo is being a dick. Are you alright man? Do you need any numbers of therapists or good centers?"
"No thank you."
"I know how it feels to be trapped and made fun of, okay? I can help if you ever need."
"Thank you but Bokuto takes very good care of me."
"Are you two dating?"
"No but he keeps me safe as if we were."
Oikawa hummed. "Gotcha."
Akaashi got in the back seat and waited patiently. He was taken to Bokuto's home where they went upstairs and Bokuto laid with him. He was asleep within minutes, snoring softly as Akaashi ran his fingers through his hair. Akaashi liked this a lot better than being insulted in public.
Moments where he got to hold Bokuto and run his fingers through his salt and pepper locks were amazing. He enjoyed Bokuto's weight and his touch.
Eventually he would wake up though and they would separate for a while. It was odd but it was okay.
"Keiji? Honey is Kotarou okay?"
Akaashi nodded towards Bokuto's mother. "He fainted again."
"Goodness." She walked over and felt of his forehead. "No fever."
"No."
"Odd. Make sure he eats tonight."
"Of course." Akaashi shifted slightly and Bokuto startled awake. He hummed, turning away. "Are you okay?"
Bokuto snored loudly. Akaashi giggled and leaned over a bit. He laughed at Bokuto's facial expression and just watched him. Bokuto started to whine softly, curling up tighter. Akaashi eased him back towards him and held him close. Bokuto woke up just enough to get up and be held.
"Comfortable?"
Bokuto leaned over and pulled the recliner part of the couch out. He groaned.
"Oh."
"I'm okay, I'm okay. Just tired."
Akaashi nodded. He hugged him tight and leaned back, getting comfortable.
****
"Kotarou I swear to God if you faint one more time I am taking you to get blood drawn!"
Bokuto rolled his eyes and looked to Akaashi. "This lady is insane."
Bokuto's mother stood from crouching by her medicine cabinet. "I will knock you out."
"Aye, aye chill."
Akaashi chuckled softly. He brushed Bokuto's hair back away from his face. "I wouldn't talk about her like that if I were you."
Bokuto poked his cheek. "Dork."
Akaashi hummed. "You hit your arm pretty hard, are you sure it doesn't hurt?"
"I'm sure!" Bokuto insisted. He hid his arm, which had an obvious cut on it from passing out earlier and falling into the counter. He had been home alone since Akaashi was out and about with Bokuto's mother looking at baby clothes. They'd found him knocked out on the floor while his arm was bleeding and panicked before realizing what had happened.
Bokuto had confessed to Akaashi upstairs while being fixed up that he had been feeling more and more ill since Akaashi had come around.
His headaches had gotten worse and his fainting happened even at night while Akaashi slept. They weren't sure as to why this was happening or if this was happening because of Akaashi's nonhuman state but they had decided to keep Bokuto still until Akaashi figured out something. It would have to be soon or else Bokuto would get very hurt but they were getting there as fast as they could.
