Chapter 10- The Search Is On (Easter Crisis Part 2)

Third Person

"Blooper!" KrakenKid hissed out into the room, catching his son's attention. "Get over here! The guards will be coming soon!"

His heart pounded out of his chest, but he let out a sigh of relief when Blooper finally jogged over to the window and jumped out of it to where KrakenKid currently was waiting. They watched as guards came by, looking around, then moved on.

KrakenKid turned his attention to his son, eyes narrowing. "Be careful Blooper! This is supposed to be secret and I'd really not have to break you out of jail on Easter morning!"

Blooper just waved him off. "Yeah, yeah. I had it under control, I swear! You had nothing to be worried about!"

"I'm a parent Blooper, I'll worry regardless, even if you were perfectly safe and nothing could go wrong. Did you plant the "Eggs"?" The small kraken grinned and nodded. "Great! Only a couple left. Take these," He handed a couple eggs over to his son.

When the older one's back turned, Blooper couldn't help but open one of the plastic eggs, hoping to sneak a peek at what was inside, and what type of explosive they were using. However, his face became perplexed when only chocolate came out.

"Hey... Dad?" KrakenKid just responded with a 'Hm?' sound. "Didn't you say these were going to be used to blow up parts of the palace?" KrakenKid nodded. "Why is there chocolate in them?" KrakenKid tensed up immediately.

"What?"

Before Blooper could react, the egg was snatched out of his tentacles and examined. The oval, yellow eyes widened, nearly dropping the content. "Oh no."

"I know right! We've been giving them chocolate! Screw this, I'm stealing it back."

The older kraken snapped out of his state and stopped Blooper. "No- Blooper this means that all the bombs are in the other eggs!" Blooper's head tilted. KrakenKid sighed. "... The one's that are being placed around the Conch Command?"

"OH!"

Blooper suddenly understood. KrakenKid was quick to start ushering them back. "We have to get home! Stat!"

"You were going to blow up Cody?" Tanith asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Well, no. If Cody was going to die, KrakenKid would prefer to do it himself and them be face to face. It was only enough C4 to make a small blast to blow up some of the walls or something, or maybe take out one of his hands if we're lucky." CannibalCrab grinned, getting a weird look from the hybrid.

"Not sure how I feel about that but okay..." She mumbled, crossing her arms. "So, how do we get them back?"

CannibalCrab hesitated before checking the time. "We have ten minutes to get them all before the hunt begins. If other Tide Changers get to them, they might set them off!" Tanith's breath hitched but managed a nod.

"Split up to cover more ground?" She suggested. He nodded firmly back and the pair quickly scampered to find them.

Tanith kept trying to remember where she hid them, while also accidentally finding them as well, but still wasn't doing so well. CannibalCrab couldn't remember so he winged it, just searching on his own to figure it all out. They met back a little before the time was up. "How'd you do?" The hybrid asked, her hands carrying some while others were in a plastic bag.

"Uh... I have eleven. You?"

She huffed in defeat. "Thirteen. Didn't we plant over fifty of them?"

"Seventy three. We're doomed."

Tanith groaned, trying to wrap her head around how to solve this. "Okay, 49 left and we have less than a minute left... How long do these things take to explode?"

"They'll do it at 2:01, on the dot, but if anyone handles them in the wrong way they might explode anyways. We need more help to- oh... OH!" CannibalCrab clapped his hands together in sudden realization, startling the hybrid. He faced Tanith. "The Easter Hunt! We need help right? What if we tell them to be careful and just set them off into the area to find them?"

Tanith nearly dropped her eggs. "Of course! Why didn't we think of that before? Come on, we gotta hurry!"

"Come on, we gotta hurry!" KrakenKid tried to keep his voice low but his nervous state was getting to him.

"Be patient!" Blooper called back. "Finding these eggs takes time!"

KrakenKid groaned, glancing around to make sure the guards hadn't gotten there yet. "Can we please just get back to the Conch Command? They don't know about the explosives yet! That's our home, Blooper!"

"I am not letting Atlantis enjoy my sweets! Do you know how much chocolate is in there? If there's at least three pieces in each one, that's over 200 pieces of chocolate!" He paused before adding, "This would go a lot quicker if you helped instead of going into your worrying corner."

KrakenKid bit back a rage filled reply and gave in, starting to gather some of the eggs as well. "... I don't have a worrying corner. Yeah sure I worry about you but it's sensible." He grumbled.

"Oh really? Let's review, I wasn't allowed to leave the Conch Command's main area, not even into the tunnels, until I became a full kraken. The only reason I ever knew what the caves looked like was because of war and you couldn't stop me then." KrakenKid opened his mouth but Blooper cut him off, decided to give more evidence. "And then there was after Darrel got sick for the first time in years, you kept bombarding the doctors with questions on whether or not he was going to be okay, plus when CannibalCrab first got addicted to videogames and accidentally skipped dinner and you freaked out."

KrakenKid hesitated. "Those were all a while ago! I haven't done it in a long time!"

Blooper side glanced, raising his eyebrow. "Really? Explain why you were so worried about Tanith when we invaded Atlantis and she was nowhere to be found? Or how you didn't let me leave the house after Annon kidnapped me and the only way I got out was because you were busy?"

"You got out?"

"Not important, the point is: You have a worry corner."

KrakenKid couldn't find a snappy comeback and had to settle for, "S-shut up!" Where Blooper just giggled in response.

"How many?" Tanith screamed from her side of the room as more and more Tide Changers came back holding eggs. "I have 23 over here!"

"25! We need one more and we have five minutes left!" CannibalCrab grinned wildly. "We got this!"

But as minutes began to tick down, the last one was nowhere to be found. Tanith and CannibalCrab began to get nervous.

"Here," Tanith started to carefully take out the C4 from the eggs and place them all into one big bag. "Group them together, we'll need to get rid of them all at once!" CannibalCrab instantly began to tear them open and toss them carelessly into the bag in a panic. They were beginning to think the last one wouldn't come up but by the time the clock reached 2:00, CrankyCrab called out to them.

"Uh, hey! Why is there a plastic egg in my fridge?"

Both of their heads shot up and scrambled to grab it from him. "Got it!" They quickly put it with the rest and smiled at their good work.

At least, they were smiling until it dawned on them.

"... What now?" CannibalCrab asked, his voice on edge.

"I thought you had an idea!"

"You're the one who said group them together!"

Tanith groaned and began to look everywhere for some sort of option. A red light appeared on the explosives, making their eyes widen. It would go off any second now.

Tanith acted fast, gathering as much as she could, scooping them up by the dozen until she could barely move them without any falling. "Pile them in my arms! Trust me, I got this!" CannibalCrab complied and watched as she ran out of the restaurant and onto the ledge of the Conch Command. She formed a bubble around the C4, trapping it inside. CannibalCrab got what she was doing and dashed over and hit it into the air like it was a volleyball.

It soared upwards before flashing. Tanith quickly covered her ears and got down, pulling CannibalCrab down with her out of habit. "EVERYONE GET DOWN!" She screamed and just in time for the 'BOOM' to go off.

Once the light faded, the pair sat up and let out a long breath in relief.

"WHAT WAS THAT?"

Their calm didn't last long.

They looked down just in time to see KrakenKid and Blooper swim up to them, both with eggs in their hands. Tanith chuckled nervously. "Fireworks?"

KrakenKid gave her a skeptical look but shrugged it off. "We switched eggs! You guys have the C4!"

"We know." They said in unison, making the kraken relax.

"Oh... Thank goodness... What'd you do with the explosive eggs? Can we still use them?"

CannibalCrab and Tanith shared a look before the crab uttered one word, snickering to himself. "Fireworks."
