Chapter 9- Intruder?

KrakenKid

With one last blast, the enemy was cut down by my gun. "Is that it?" I called. Turning over to where my old friend was, I watched as he finished off his own challenger with a swift cut. "I believe so my lord." His eyes shifted around. "That should be the last of them. None escaped either."

A grin edged onto my face. "Good." I spared one last look at the Atlantean Guards and laughed. "Looks like they couldn't handle us both. Nice sniping by the way. You took out all of their ranged ones before they knew you were there!" A chuckle rose out of him. "Thanks. I've been working on it. That'll teach them to intrude on our land. Must have been quite the surprise seeing you alive." I laughed as well. "Yeah. Well, since none escaped and Cody has no idea about what happened, we won't see more for a while. If not, well, I guess we'll have to kill more of them!" His grin became wider. "You know that I'm always up for that."

"I'll get some guards to get rid of the bodies."

"Good idea Cannibal. I'm going to head back. Make sure none make it to the tunnels.."

"Sounds good. I'll check around out here just in case.."

With that, we parted ways. Searching through the tunnels, I came up empty, which was a good thing currently. It meant we did good job. Heh, stupid Atlanteans. Thinking they could come in here. Too bad they still don't know that I'm not dead.

However, when I made it back, not all was well.

At the entrance, one of Illithids came to me immediately. "My lord!" They greeted. "We've had an Intruder!" My heart dropped. "What? Who? Is that smelly penguin? Does he know everything now?" I demanded to know. They shook their head. "No, not him. We aren't quite sure who it is. Everyone who has seen them has no idea who they are."

Then they explained what happened. "They got into the tunnels so we arrested them but it was so weird. They didn't resist at all. We aren't sure of their intentions yet. We were waiting for someone to come and interrogate them. Gnash was going to do it but now that you are here-" I interrupted them. "I'll do it. Where is this intruder? I'll find out why they're here." The Dragon gun found it's way into my hands. "Even if I have to use force."

They nodded and continued. "We have put them in a cell for now. You should be able to find them if you go in there." Before they even finished, I was on my way over to the prison. My grip tightened on the gun as I approached the cells.

Checking some of them, something yellow, black and red was in one of them, and shifted out of my sight. Okay that wasn't there before. I rushed over to it, and held up the gun. "Okay who are you and what are you-"

I paused when I saw who it was.

"No way."

A little grin appeared on their face. "Too bad we still haven't had a time where you haven't pointed a gun at me." I sighed and put the gun away, shaking my head from side to side.

"What are you doing here Tanith?"

The half snake sat on the bed provided in the cell. For someone in a prison, she looked laid back. "Hey Kraken." She waved. "I've come so you can fulfill your promise." She told me simply. My eyes squinted. "Promise? What are you talking ab-" Then I remembered something said when I saw her last. "Wait. You mean when I said I'd give you a tour?" She nodded, her smile becoming wider. "I told you I'd hold you to that." I groaned. "Come on, do I really have to do this? I was joking!" She nodded vigorously. "A promise is a promise. I take my promises seriously Kraken." Something glinted in her eyes when she said the last part. I huffed and opened the cell door.

"Fine, fine. Come with me." The Hybrid slithered over to my side in seconds. "Okay. I guess we can start here. This is my prison. People who we don't like and trespassers are put here." The blue eyes gazed around at the many cells with iron bars and doors as well as the swords on the racks, then nodded. "Moving on."

As we exited, the guards all stared at her in suspicion. All except one. Seeing that single one, the female waved at him. "Oh, hello Illithid. Aren't you one one who got bit? How's the wound holding up?" She examined him, then nodded in approval. "Yeah, I am. You're the snake lady who helped me out..." Then turned to me, perplexed. "What's she doing here?" I sighed, rubbing my face. "Long story but, I'm fulfilling a promise. She isn't a threat. Go back to work." They all paused for a moment but in the end, obeyed.

"Okay, on with the tour, " I raised a tentacle to the right. "Over there is the Armory. Not much to it other than armor and weapons. Come over here." I strolled over near the stairs, but didn't go up. "Over there is the entrance, though I think you knew that since you came through it," Then pointed to the right again. "And way over there is the lab as well as the new wing for a bigger lab and medical wing. Let's go up stairs."

Tanith lingered a bit, looking over to the new part, then followed.

Walking up the spiraling marble stairs, we came across the restaurant. "Here is the bar and the restaurant." I showed off the several wooden tables as well as the actual kitchen and higher part, which had couches and coffee tables. Blue eyes gazed over the place, stopping at the pool tables, dart boards and finally on the chief himself.

"Who's that?" She bobbed her head in the crabs direction. I smiled warmly and swam over to his side. "Oh, this is Cranky Crab, our top chief." The crab acknowledged the newcomer before turning to me. "I have the new batch for you. It's in the fridge." My grin became wider. "Thanks buddy!" Yanking open the double door fridge, I gathered my favorite food: Special Chicken.

Upon seeing the food, Tanith's blue eyes seemed to widen just a bit. "Um... What is that?" She locked eyes with the strange meat in my tentacle. "It's my favorite food. Cranky Crab calls it Special Chicken." I ate a piece before asking the question: "Do you want some?" For a moment, she looked like she was going to say something, but stopped and shook her head. "I'm good, I have some cooked fish with me. You enjoy that though..." Her voice trailed off. Shrugging, I finished off another piece before putting it away.

"Alright, come on then."

Going up the winding stairs, I showed off the next level. "This is the situation room and where all the money is kept. Also," I added. "Over here is one of the most important people here in the Conch Command. This is Darrel." The blue bird observed us both when we entered and nodded at the half snake when she entered. "Hello Sir, I see you brought a guest today. Who might this be?"

"Tanith. Very nice to meet you." She held out her hand and he shook it. "I'm giving this one a tour of the place." Darrel looked a little surprised. "Really?" I huffed. "Yeah, I kinda made a promise and she's holding me to it. I still have one more level to go." Darrel smiled at us. "Well, I'm glad you're making friends. Have fun with the rest of the tour!" He waved us off as we left.

"Okay, here is the top, my room."

At the top, I showed off the master bedroom. She gazed around, seeing the balcony, upstairs fridge and tables, couches, computers, video games, toy trains, and of course, the actual beds. The half human fixated on the second bed. "What's that for?" She pointed to it. The luxury green bed made me smile, but only because it reminded me of him. "Oh, that's for Blooper, my son." She whipped around to me. "You have a son?" I nodded. "Really? Tell me more." Her eyes lit up with interest.

"Well, he's a kraken like his dad and he's AMAZING! Like, he's talented at Pac-Man and has good aim with bows and guns, is a natural flier and recently has been-uh... Getting into pranks."

She chuckled. "Pranks? Has he-" I nodded vigorously. "Oh yeah. He's pulled some on his father. Pretty successful if you ask me. He went all out. I'd-uh- rather not talk about it. Still kinda embarrassing." She laughed again. "Well you have to tell me later. Promise me." I groaned. "Promise you? I don't know if that's a good idea considering that you'll hold me to it."

"I take my promises seriously. If you made me promise something, I'd do it. So promise me."

I had a mental battle in my mind but in the end, gave up. It was a funny story after all and I was impressed with Blooper afterwards. "Fine. I, KrakenKid, Promise Tanith I will tell her about the prank later. Happy?" Tanith was pleased with herself. "Very."

Seconds passed before she asked the inevitable question. "Who's Blooper's mom?"

I didn't answer at first. "I don't really like to talk about that. Blooper himself don't really know much." She nodded. "Oh. Okay." Silenced filled then air. Thinking, I decided to ask something I never really did before.

"Where do you live anyways?"

"In Atlantis. I'm a war medic there."

At the mention of Atlantis, my gun was out. So many alarms went off in my head. "ARE YOU A SPY?" I screeched at her. She held her hands up as a gesture. "I just said I was a war medic." That didn't do much for me. "Answer the question." My eyes narrowed and teeth bared. "No, of course not." She shook her head.

"That's exactly what a spy would say!"
"Also what someone who wasn't a spy would say."

I opened my mouth to protest, but closed it again. "Good point. How do I know I can trust you?" I clutched the gun. Her eyes locked on to mine, deadly serious. "Because I promise, I'm not here to harm. I'm not telling anything to anyone. It's not my job to spy on people anyways. Cody don't have to know I was here if it make you feel better."

"WAIT YOU WORK WITH CODY?"

"Calm yourself Kraken."

"WHY?"

"Eat a snickers."

"I WI- wait what? Eat a snickers?"

"You're not you when you're hungry."

I couldn't help but snicker. She relaxed when I did. "Fine. But you have to promise to keep ALL of this a secret. Anything that you find out, keep it a secret. If you don't keep your promise, I'll kill you." She nodded. "Yeah that sounds fair. I suggest not telling me really big secrets though. I really hate keeping big lies and I just don't want to know." I huffed. "Fair enough. Anyways, tour is over. Do you wanna go home now or what?"

"Yeah, I have some stuff to do. Thanks by the way, this was fun, even if you did a point a gun at me. Twice. And are still doing it right now." Realizing I still had it out, I put the Dragon away.

I showed her to the edge of the tunnel personally. "Thanks again KrakenKid." I waved it off. "No problem. Just keep your promise." She smiled. "I will." Before she walked away, a ringing sound startled us both. Tanith quickly whipped out her phone and answered.

"Hello?" Her eyes widened. "Oh hi Cody." She held up her finger as if to tell me she needed a minute. Crap. This is the part where she tells him everything and I learns she's a spy and Atlantis is coming to wipe us out. "What? I'm needed? Okay I'll be there soon. Wait one more time?" The pupils expanded. "What was I doing?" No, no no! Why did I trust this women! WHY DOES THIS HAPPEN TO ME! "Taking a stroll, that's all. Atlantis is really beautiful you know." I half sighed in relief. Oh thank goodness. I was so about to kill someone.  "I'll be there soon. Bye!" She clicked the end call button and sighed.

"Sorry about that. See you around KrakenKid!" She waved and left. I stayed for a moment and rubbed my face. "Oh man that was a close one." I shook my head and went home. "Why did I trust this women?"

When the hybrid arrived in Atlantis, she took care of what needed to happen, but didn't go home. She traveled to the palace library, stopping at the desk. The librarian looked up, surprised at the new comer. "Yes?" They asked. "Do you need something?" The hybrid leaned closer. "Do you have any books on the history of Atlantis?"

The man was surprised, that book was barely ever asked for. "Well, yes. Come with me." He exited his desk and beckoned her down the stairs for her to follow, which she did.

He led her down to the bookshelf, the dustiest one and skimmed along the titles of the books, before taking one out, the biggest and oldest one there. "Ah, this should be it! This is from when Atlantis was founded to the present. I get updated whenever something interesting happens. It's quite heavy."

Her blue eyes traveled across the cover, thinking so many things at once and most of all, wondering about the promise she made and why it was so important she made it. This could prove one of her theories. The half human and half snake checked it out and brought it home. When she did, she poured herself some hot coco and opened up the book, uttering a single sentence.

"Well book, do you happen to know a KrakenKid?"

You know, sometimes you should think about what promises you make before making them. Hope everybody liked this chapter! Once again, took a while to make and a little unsure about some parts but enjoy! Be sure to comment, it helps me know how I did and, if you didn't know, I do have other stuff on my profile so if you want something to read, go for it. Or don't. I don't control your life.
